Some of you helped me last year when I needed help naming some of my paintings. One of them I said at the time was going to be part of a series… The Enlightenment. So now almost a year later I’ve finally started the second one in the series. So far the working title is Secret Illumination, but who knows what it will be in the end. I just started it tonight so it’s extremely rough. There is an album with daily progress on this and the other two paintings I’m working on here: Paintings and Ink gallery. (Right now the top row is the albums for the three paintings I’m working on, the rest of the page is finished paintings.)
I’m so happy to be painting again! Some of you may remember just over a year ago (fall 2006) when I took my first painting class and fell in love with it… then last April, less than a year later, I painted this one for my Painting II class, then after finals I packed up my whole house, including my paint, and move to Cleveland. The paint has been packed in a box ever since, until 2 weeks ago. I forgot how much I loved this!! Remind me not to stop for so long ever again!
Thanks! Even just the smell of the paints lifts my mood. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I am making stuff. I’m also taking a sculpture class, which has let me explore a whole other outlet. Monday I’ll probably have pictures of my first almost-finished clay sculpture. It’s at the school and I keep forgetting to take a picture of it in progress before I’ve already wrapped it up in plastic. Doh!
I could see myself getting into sculpture to a point, but it’s a much harder art form to just do at home without lots of equipment. So I’d probably stick with painting even if I turned out to like or do sculpture better. At least at this point in my life. It is so much fun, though!
