Huh. My parent-in-law have a mini Schnauzer whose name is Maddy. (I think they spell it with a “y;” I prefer your spelling, myself.)
She looks a bit like my English Mastiff when he was a puppy.
I like Nutmeg but only if you call her Nutty for short. What a cutie!
ha ha ha ha - very funny!
Uhhh…I don’t think he was joking:
Mutts from the pound are always the best dogs. I’ve never met one before that isn’t just full of love.
(Yes, we have a pound mutt ourselves)
Oh, believe me, I looked. And my eyes grew wide. Until I read a little further and found that English Mastiff puppies at 6 weeks are somewhere between 15-20 lbs. That calmed my nerves. Our little guy’s head is outsized by his tennis ball.
When my step-grandmother died (1993ish), we had to find a new home for her toy poodle dog - Mickey IV. I know Mickey III got hit by a car, but I don’t remember the previous ones!
What a cutie!
A friend’s Bull Mastiff had 14 puppies. When Momma Mastiff was nursing the pups, She eating 10 lbs of dogfood a day!! Good lawd.
She’s adorable! My vote goes for Molasses namewise; I looked at the picture, saw Molly on the page, and said, “huh, that fits perfectly.” Doubly so when I saw the sleeping picture. Which, thank you for posting it, because pictures of sleeping puppies are like a drug to me, and fill me with all sorts of happy.
Yep. Rescues are great. Mutts are great. Rescue mutts are great squared. (Note that while they have some great ads, Pedigree is in fact terrible food that you absolutely should not feed to your dog.)
The dog in that commercial looks a lot like our pound mutt!
And what is wrong with Pedigree? Our dog has been eating it exclusively for 5 years and is healthy, vibrant, with a shiny coat and clean teeth. Pedigree was one of the few brands of dog food that had NO recalls when there was the melanin scare a few years back.
Can we please stop talking about Mastiffs RIGHT NOW?!
Looks like mine, too! In a way.
Pedigree has a bunch of poor quality ingredients.
Pedigree first ten ingredients:
(Unnamed) meat and bone meal? Chicken by-product meal? Where’s the meat? Why is the main meat meal unnamed? Corn as the first ingredient? Wheat? Corn gluten meal? Dogs are carnivores. When was the last time you saw a wolf grazing in the corn field? Pet food makers use all those ingredients because it is cheaper for them and increases their profit margins.
I feed Orijen but am transitioning to raw, since I feel in the long run it will be cheaper and keep him eating more naturally.
Orijen first ten ingredients:
Named protein sources, and the first ingredients are meats.
She’s a mastiff!
It will be interesting to see what she looks like as she grows.
And grows, and grows, and grows…
Just wanted to say that the second picture, with the puppy outsized by the tennis ball, really made my morning. Give the wee one an extra hug for that, please!
Holy crap is that cute. How do you not lose her? Or not want to keep her in your pocket all day long?!?
She really is adorable. I meant it about her resembling my Tarzan (the Mastiff), but it waa a bit of a joke too because I assumed that you had some idea that Molly was too small to ever become a giant dog.
Back from the vet…she was given a clean bill of health and lots of awwwwwws. They couldn’t venture a guess on what mix of breeds she is, but the vet gave a (very qualified) guess that she’d be a smallish medium dog. She said she’d been burned before, though, and had guessed a dog to be a Jack Russell mix, when it was actually more likely a Great Pyrenees mix, so she didn’t make any promises. I told her about the Mastiff theory and she thought that was pretty funny (but didn’t say it was impossible ).
Munch, I have been carrying her around a lot and just sitting around with her all snuggled up to me. She’s starting to get more adventurous in her explorations, but she’s still doing that clumsy puppy stagger, so she’s not exactly speedy.
