We had to put down our very loved 12 year old chocolate lab in January. Then we lost a great friend a few weeks later, and then my Dad in April… so suffice it to say it hasn’t been the best year so far.
We just found a new puppy (3.5 weeks) but she isn’t quite ready to leave her mom yet so we have to wait a few weeks, and we need a name. She is a very sweet black Lab with English traits. She needs a name.
So far my son is leaning to Bailey, or Sadie. Her “sister” is Wrigley and I’m leaning toward Riley but my son doesn’t like that. The line of labs has Mae as a middle name and it was also the middle name of the lab we lost so we plan to keep that. We’ve tried everything we can think of and nothing seems to fit. Any ideas from this creative group would be greatly appreciated.
Had a puppy we called Puppy until I had to give him a real name before he got fixed and made one up (Corndog) at the front counter. He got used to answering to many names over the years, like Shithead or the names of any of the other dogs. He had a scar on the back of his head and Wife told kids that was where aliens sucked his brain out. They didn’t leave much behind, but he was nice.
Layla. Ruby. Roisin’ Dubh, which is Black Rose in Gaelic. (I lost my Roisin Bhan, aka Rosie the white lab, last July, and I miss her immensely). (Dubh is pronounced Doo. Bhan, Vahn. If you’ve an ethnic background, name the dog " black" in your language of origin;)) I knew a writer who named all his dogs Pearl.
We are getting a pup at the end of June, born 4/9. He’s going to need silver or blue in some form as part of his name. It’s fun to choose:)
Olive would be a swell name for a black Lab with “English traits”, whatever those are (“eats bad food” is the first thing that comes to mind, but that’s characteristic of all Labs).
