Damn. Sorry. I came in here because it looked like a happy thread. I needed some happy. So, naturally, I screw it up.
My Newfie never did grow into her feet …
Name the new pup “Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky V”
No, no, not to worry. Freya was awesome. Hubby and I discussed naming this one Freya as well because we like the name, but decided not to. We did discuss it though.
Why is naming pets so hard?
Now the list is:
Raven
Cedar

ETA: it should, of course, be “deceased” as in “pining for the fjords”. :smack:
Gorgeous!
(Also a good name)
You have to go outside and call out the potential name as loud as you can. Some names don’t sound right when yelled into the neighborhood.
I should know, I have a dog named Basso.
I was just thinking about my co-worker who had a baby girl and planned to name her “Raven”. Oh, cool, I thought, until I learned she was spelling it Rayvynn.
So a new Raven dog would tip the scales back toward sanity.
(I still have an irrational fear of GSs, I think because of a childhood trauma, but I’m glad you love yours!)
We are here to help, but one picture is nowhere near enough to go on.
I named my dog “Squirrel”, which is an awesome name, I think.
The only problem is when I am calling her outside, I sometimes get odd looks.
Ruby is a hood name for a female GSD. Gary for a male.
Another pic. She has a tendency to try and eat my phone when I attempt to take pictures.
:dubious:
I was on board until I clicked the link. :smack:
Ursula, as in ursa, for bear.
StG
What a cutie pie with those enormous feet and ears to grow into.
A acquaintance of mine recently adopted a GS pup and named her Heike. It’s a good dog name: German, easy to say, and unusual enough that all the other doggies won’t come running when you call her (speaking to all the Maxs and Bellas out there).
She’s sooo cute! My German Shepherd is Hannah. I think you should reconsider Freya - I love it.
I’ve had 3 GSDs named Hannah.
They do seem to aggressively posture against strangers until they get to know them. Though I think mine learned a lot of that from my chihuahua, who was originally raised by someone who is very afraid of strangers due to some bad stuff in here life.
I think it just takes more work to socialize dachshunds.
I like the suggestion of Freya now, after seeing it.
Ilsa was also the name of Ingrid Bergman’s character in Casablanca, though.
How about Schnell, or Schnelly.
I can see you calling her at the dog park. "Schnell! Macht Schnell”!!!
How about Heidi?
In that vein, when I still had my Weimaraner, we were out and about and saw another couple with a young male Weim. Seeing fellow cultists, we came over to introduce ourselves, and mainly play with their doggie.
He was about two, running around, and so the couple proudly told us that, in honor of his boundless energy and German heritage, they had named him, “Der Stürmer.” Oh, that’s nice.
Your Shepherds look beautiful, Sunny. I wish you many happy years with your critter.
