Asking a respectful mob guy for sinister bad guy pointers would probably be taken just as poorly.
Well he at least made a point with Castell with his, The body would never be found and needing a demostration bit. Very good for a book, don’t you think.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the mobster was Donna’s dad from That 70’s Show.
This episode had just the right amounts of Castle’s mom and the captain.
The neighbor is a fan of his books that’s why the cousin was getting them together. I hope the Hamptons house is used more this season, both the conflict with the neighbor and the new buddy relationship with the sheriff could be useful. Also the house is amazing
I was amused by their portrayal of the Hamptons. First of all, there’s no such place: the term designates East Hampton, Southampton, Westhampton, Bridgehampton and Hampton Bays, as well as other communities without “Hampton” in the name. So talking about the mayor of the Hamptons was like talking about the mayor of Chicago, Cook County, and Skokie.
Second, the geography was fanciful. The house appeared to be in Southampton or East Hampton (west of Southampton, the houses on the beach don’t have lawns – it’s all sand). But there’s no marina nearby that would give access to the ocean and back in the time frame of the story.
A minor issue, for sure, but amusing.
I kept hoping to see a ‘Hank Med’ reference…
Did the Chief ever actually say “Mayor of the Hamptons?” Or did he just say “The Mayor” with town unspecified?
After watching people turn corners in the San Fernando Valley and emerge on Sunset in Hollywood, a little creative geography doesn’t usually bother me. This example, of course, I didn’t even notice, although I’m certain it bugged the snot out of locals.
The latter.
Part way in, I started to wonder if the plot was going to riff on Revenge, given the Hamptons setting, the mysterious argument on a beach followed by shooting, and the first young blonde suspect. But nope.
Quoted for truth. That last episode with Sir Captain-lady and her ceramic dolls. That was inexcusable! Dur!
Don’t feel bad. I didn’t notice it until I read your post.
Agreed. I didn’t like that. They’ve established over the last year and a half that Captain Gates doesn’t like Castle working with the police department. To show her suddenly doing a 180 in her feelings because Castle gave her a doll makes her look like an idiot.
And you people have missed the best part of Castle and Beckett finally getting together as a couple.
We’ve seen Stana Katic take her clothes off more times in the first four weeks of Season Five then we did in all four previous seasons combined.
Well, it was good because you knew somehow by the end of it - Castle would screw it up - and you just had to watch for that payoff.
Still dumb tho - if you can get the flash drive and stuff IN the doll without breaking it - you can get it out as well.
Especially since he already used that ploy in Season 1 with the Home Invasion Jewel thieves.
The quote was "These are the Hamptons. The mayor . . . "
An actual police officer would say, "This is Southampton. The mayor . . . " I can’t imagine a native of the area referring to the areas as “the Hamptons.” But none of the actual towns/villages were mentioned.
Now I think Esposito needs to find out about Castle and Beckett’s relationship, but without Ryan knowing that he knows about it. Then we can enjoy watching them get completely smug, each one thinking that he’s depriving the other of a really juicy secret. Actually, I think it would be pretty funny if one character after another – Lanie, the guy who subs in for Lanie every now and then, Captain Gates – found out, but everyone lets the two lovebirds keep their “secret” out of genuine respect for their feelings and/or a desire to toy with them.
Yea, but when did we see her without her clothes ?
This episode was better than all of last season, the playful mood fits Castle much better. I hope from here on out they continue together without serious relationship drama, like gender-reversed Nick and Nora Charles.
I don’t quite get the bias against a will-they won’t they couple getting together anyway, is that really all based on that one Moonlighting show?
That’s the figurehead example, but it’s happened enough times before that it’s risky. Though I can’t bring any to mind… But I can see why they hesitate. If a central dynamic that contributes to the popularity of the show changes, you may lose your audience, or lose some of the focus in the writing.
When you rent the movie Feast of Love. Allow me to summarize the movie for you.
Stana Katic.
Naked.
In bed with Selma Blair.
There’s also some stuff with other people.
