She’s his partner, not his secretary.
I believe that was intentional. The “adult mode” commands had no effect on her. She already has real emotions, and she’s deliberately suppressing them so she won’t give herself away.
She’s not deliberately suppressing things: that hacker guy wiped her personality and installed a new (standard) one on top. The flashes of emotion we’ve seen seem to be that overwritten personality breaking through. Nonetheless, from what we saw of the brothel, presumably “adult mode” can be a bit more interactive if that’s what is desired.
Presumably they get erections, but what happened beyond that?
Can they ejaculate, or not? Or does the penis just vibrate (which would go against making them as human as possible). What does Synth skin actually feel & task like? Do Synths sweat? How good are they at simulating things like increased hear rate or breathing? The more I think about stuff like this the less attractive sex with one (even one that looks like Will Tudor) sounds. Some of these issues could be resolved if they had a layer of living tissue on a robotic endoskeleton (ala the Terminators), but they seem to be entirely artificial with out any biological components.
They hinted at Leo’s synth-ness in one of the earlier episodes. He seems more like a human with some synth interface stuff wired in somehow rather than a full synth. He appears to need sleep rather than charging. Then again he oozes that blue stuff.
I guess I’ll have to stay tuned.
Dang it. Meant to add a spoiler tag. Sorry! I’m assuming that when Leo “died,” his father synthesized him into being partially a robot to save his life.
I’m not convinced of that yet. We’ll have to stay tuned to see.
Further speculation.
Perhaps all of the “conscious” synths were originally humans who died and were revived into robots? Wasn’t Anita shown to have a subconscious memory of drowning in a car?
I thought the quote was something like “the switch needs human body heat”. I think that that could be above or below normal, but obviously that seems like a stupid way to design security.
So to me that doesn’t mean they have no body heat - which would be hard to do in something that has the energy requirements it does.
Where the hell are we - look at E6 last night …
Still in. Suddenly twigged much of the location stuff is SW London, though that doesn’t get us very far …
What to say, it’s like an entire thread of spoilers.
With that level of technology making sure the robots have realistic body heat would be ridiculously trivial to achieve and a silly thing to leave out if you are going to make sex an option. I think being extremely heavy would be the bigger issue.
Though we are now into the era of miracle materials like graphene …
Wow, that was a terrific episode, especially the handling of “adult mode”. I’m really like this show. But… I don’t know about you guys, but I totally called the Female Detective as a synth right after she asked her partner to spend some time on her couch. When she walked out the door, she got that “synth deadpan” look about her that just screamed it.
Yeah, I thought that was a great development. It means the sentient synths like Anita are the old models, and there are newer sentients that can pass easily for human. The guy who is hunting Anita and her group was asked what the synths’ next step would be after gaining sentience and he said “infiltration.” But he doesn’t know just how far behind in the race he is, since it seems that some synths have already infiltrated society.
In the third episode, when Pete and Karen were examining the scene where Niska strangled the pedophile john, Karen’s examination of the scene was so mechanical, I assumed she was meant to be a synth.
I liked that the advanced synth needed her human lover to know. Like she was just a person with ‘a history’. So it’s advanced level is such that it seeks emotional nourishment.
It’s also interesting to contrast the two ousted, sofa-sleeping males. Starting with one because of a sex toy the other for a sex toy.
Oh shit - that E6. I have o idea what’s going on in this thread. Sorry.
Watched E5 last night - a bit less exciting than previous episodes but I can feel the tension building up to something much bigger…
E7 - no spoiler: Damn, you’d really like to give that blonde a monumentally serious pounding.
Which meaning of “pounding” do you mean, there?
