zweisamkeit: good job- those are great looking and what a bargain…
ScareyFaerie: those things are terrifying. But they’ll help you live up to your name, that’s for sure. What would you wear them with? I’m assuming not “jeans and t-shirt.”
Pullet: I know! I called them yesterday after I took the picture of my second pair, and they sent out a smaller size before I even returned the ones that didn’t fit. They are in the mailroom now (less than 24 hours later) and the mail guy is bringing them to me soon. It’s like living in the not-too-distant future.
I like the Capezio’s better - they’re a bit daintier looking. And if I recall correctly, Capezio used to make their shoes in cloth - which would be much cheaper and easier to dye than leather. And would look very nice with your linen dress!
I am extremely disappointed that they are out of the black teacup shoes in my size. I just got my tax incentive check and I would have happily purchased them!
That’s a good point about the cloth, but I only see leather on the Zappo’s site, and all the other places I’ve found Capezios only have them in Black and flesh tone, and charge through the nose for shipping and don’t take returns. Also, leather will mold to my bunionesque* toe structure while cloth will just wear unevenly.
I may be reaching for the sky, but I’m hoping for “wedding shoes” that I can use later as general “nice shoes.” I’d hate to be spending all this time and money for one wearing.
ScareyFaerie: neat! Intense, but neat.
*bunionesque meaning my feet look like maps of Africa, but they’ve always been that way, it’s just the way they grew, not due to pointy shoes or anything.
Anyone know if these foot undies, usually worn by dancers for traction, would be useful in heels? I always slide to the front of my shoe when I wear heels.
They are quite comfortable. I think I might try some sort of insole to give a bit more padding between the ball of my foot and the ground, but maybe I’m just too used to sneakers. I think I’ll hang on to these for a while, since I can return them any time. I’ll try them on with a dress, too. I don’t really have to decide until I go to the dressmaker in June, so I have time to research dyeing.
Oh, and Surly Chick, I agree that the Capezios are daintier, but I think that might be part of why I like the Trotters (terrible name) better- I’m just not very dainty! Plus I’m a sucker for details like the stitching.
I like them much better now that they fit you. They just looked too clunky before but that probably had to do with them being too large. And the stitching is cute!
My new cool red and pink shoes look exactly like this (note: not my flickr account, just someone with the same shoes). Found them vintage and was so psyched. My second pair, the other one is black and white.
Yeah, I have the shoe gene too but my functions differently than other girls’.
You need Insolia inserts. They adhere to the inner sole and make it tackier so your foot doesn’t slide forward and you can rest more of your weight on the heel. I’ve used them in one pair of shoes where I had a sliding forward problem but in most of my shoes, it’s not a big deal. Wearing pantyhose usually makes the sliding forward worse; I go bare-legged so my bare feet have good contact with the insoles.
