New show: Forever

Some interest in him? SOME INTEREST IN HIM???

She cancels her romantic trip to Paris at the last possible second, comes straight to his home to tell him about it, and makes it abundantly clear that what she really wants is to go to Paris with him. And instead of showing the least understanding, he just looks like he’s trying to remember where he left his keys.

And then when he makes it clear that he’s more interested in Abe than her (and remember that she thinks they’re just odd-couple roommates), she doesn’t look at all crushed, or even embarrassed, about having bared her soul and gotten blown off, she’s just like KAY-CYA.

I’ve thought the show was poorly written from the very first episode, and this clinches it. I like the premise, I like the actors, and I wanted it to succeed. But it really doesn’t deserve to be renewed.

He’s a guy. It happens

Facts is facts. They’re easy.

It took me the greater part of 30 years to realize that when a girl asks you out for coffee, she’s not ACTUALLY ASKING to TAKE YOU to COFFEE. :smack:

(Gives secret clueless guy handshake. )

Me, too. But if I were over 200 years old, and a super-observant genius, I’d notice if a piano fell near me.

I would just like Jo to find out Henry’s real secret already. Get it over with. Since this isn’t likely to be renewed for a second season holding out gains nothing and it’s past time for some story arc progression.

I might have to watch this soon (or it may be too late) because the taped – or filmed, but I’m guessing taped – scenes in the subway station near where I live two weeks ago.

You can catch up on abc.com if you’d like.

Crap. I wanted to argue with you, but I just looked at the ratings pages on it, and you’re right. Its not doing well, and probably circling the drain.

Yeah, the idea was great and the actors are giving it their all but the writing is dreck and they don’t do enough with Henry being immortal. >sigh<

I didn’t know that? What is she actually asking for?

I was actually pretty mad at what they did with Jo.

DEAR WRITERS, NOT EVERY SHOW WITH A MALE AND FEMALE LEAD NEEDS THEM TO FALL IN LOVE!

I really liked the “they are just good friends” vibe. and now the writers are ruining it.

I know, it would have been so cool & refreshing if she had gone with Cuba Gooding. :frowning:

But Henry is such a sex-symbol they have to have sexual tension are him.

I liked changing Adam from a bad guy to a questionable ally. But I agree that I’m just waiting for the scene when Jo finds out about Henry’s secret.

The episode about the pistol was good, but dragging this, ‘killing yourself with the pistol will end it’ is obviously going no where. (well with dragging ratings, maybe it won’t…that’d be funny and a first(?)…kill the hero as your swan song)

Well, one episode left. Open spoilers below.

This one seemed awfully coincidental to me - the judge just happens to hit Adam, and just happens to have a murderous cop’s girlfriend in the car, and just happens to take her to the hospital where Abigail works. But I suppose it is fiction - it just felt like it was overdone with the plot twists.

I sorta feel for Adam with the “there is another like me? I have to find him!”. I imagine after a couple millenia of thinking you are the only one of your kind you would hunt for the other like you relentlessly.

A little surprised that Jo poured her heart out to Henry and he was all “that’s nice” and they are still getting along fine.

The next episode is titled “The Last Death of Henry Morgan”, but I wonder if they will leave room for a second season, even if it’s unlikely to get renewed. I wonder if he decides to start going by a different name, and it’s his last death as “Henry Morgan” and his first death as “Different McNewName”.

Also, I imagine Abe would like his dad to stick around - I wonder if there’s an easy way to make an old pistol like that impossible to fire without making it obvious that occurred. Like removing a firing pin in a modern gun (although clearly impossible with a percussion pistol like the gun that killed Henry).

Also, I wonder if they will take the last episode to let Jo find out Henry’s secret.

Finally!

Am I the only one who thinks Adam’s fate is worse than death? Too bad this show isn’t being renewed.

Yes. This was worse than just killing him, but then, there was no guarantee the Roman knife would have worked, either.

I do think the episode did a nice job of being both a season finale and (as may be the case) a series finale. I can only think of two shows that managed it before: Awake and Pushing Daisies

I really hope this show gets a second season, but yes that was a nice wrap-up if that’s where it ends. Not a good ending for Adam though…

Yeah, it was nice. Any solid news on renewal?

They didnt really answer why Morgan didnt perma-die from the pistol. I think Abe switched them out.

One gets the sense that this episode was re-written to work better as a series finale and a lot of plot stuff got edited out to make room. We don’t see how Adam got the gun even after the show makes a big deal of how carefully Abe is guarding it, and Abe knows to show up at the river and look for Henry, even though there isn’t any indication of his knowing Henry got the knife from Lucas and is headed for a showdown with Adam. Plus some of the dialoge at the end while they’re playing chess kind of hinted that they’d executed some sort of plan.

But this show was always fun despite the plotting, rather than because of it, so hinting at a plan by the heroes probably works better than if they’d actually tried to show what it was. And the episode worked well as a finale.

Yes. But then, part of the premise is that eternal life has great suckitude. Henry couldn’t kill Adam, but this takes Adam out of the equation for a good long while.

Henry hopes.

Because if/when Adam dies again he’s going to come back again… and he’s going to be pissed!

Is that a definite?

>sigh<

At least they wrapped a few things up at the end. Wonder if they re-shot part of it to make it more a series finale and not just a season, accounting for some of the plotting/scripting holes? Anyhow, would have loved to have see Henry tell Jo the “long story”, because you know she would still be doubting, but it’s fine for what it is.
