New Springsteen album out Tuesday!

I haven’t been this excited about a new Bruce album in a long time. Magic is supposedly a rock album, rather than the more self-indulgent stuff he’s put out lately. Don’t get me wrong, I liked some of the stuff off the last few albums, and I think *The Rising * is severely under-rated, but it’s been a long time since Bruce and the boys just rocked. I’ll be out to the store on my lunch break Tuesday.

It leaked. I heard it. It’s awesome. Right now my favorite tracks are Radio Nowhere, Gypsy Biker, and Magic, but the entire album is damn good.
I too will be buying it on Tuesday.

I preordered it for my daughter, who is Bruce’s #1 Fan, despite what anyone else might claim.

Sounds like I should have bought a second copy for me.

I will be buying it next week too.

I like “girls in their summer clothes” a lot - total magnetic fields song.

Amazon has it for 47% off. Bought it.
Does anybody know it they will touring behind this album? It’s been years since I saw 4 Bruce shows in a row.

Of course!

I’ll be seeing him in Chicago!

Of course, they went on sale this morning while I was at a tournament.

<sigh>

Time to visit the ticket brokers…

I’m hoping for a second American leg of the tour. As it is now he’s not coming anywhere near me. :frowning:

I preordered mine from Sony, and got it today!!!   It’s awesome!
Doesn’t make up for the fact he’s not coming anywhere near here, though. :frowning:

I have mine pre-ordered. The new John Fogerty album, “Revival”, drops the same day, too. * does happy dance.

Good rockin’ through the month of October and then…

OMG!!11!eleventyeleven!!! New Eagles album on October 30!!!

Those were my thoughts exactly cochrane. Good month.

Oh, and there’s a Neil Young one too.

Man, this album rocks! I have “Last To Die” cranked to about 11, and the cats are beginning to stare as I dance around the living room. Damn I’ve missed this!!!

…and what about that “Track 12”?

So far, I think it’s great. I bought it at lunch, listened at lunch, listened some more when I went to get the mail, and on the way home and I’m listening to it now.

Though I don’t follow Bruce, it’s fun to see fans get excited about his impending return. Does he plan any webcasts? Are you guys all networked up to send live reviews and photographs? Is someone planning on seeing as many shows as humanly possible? Expensive as it is, these are great days for fans of artists the like of Bruce and The E Street Band. Rock on, guys and gals!

So, my girlfriend showed up this morning on her way to work with a gift for me; Magic!

So, now I’m drinking coffee, listening to the album through for the second time.
I’m really liking it. The lyrics take a little more work than most of Springsteen’s stuff, particularly as the vocals seem a little back in the mix so the words don’t ‘pop’ as much. But, there are a lot of great songs here. Bruce is one of a very few musicians who just keeps it real year after year.

My least favorite tracks are Radio Nowhere and Your Own Worst Enemy. The others are all pretty great. In particular I like Terry’s Song (the “bonus” track), Gypsy Biker, Magic, and Girls In Their Summer Clothes (which has a very Beach Boys-esque melody).

Ok, after a bunch of listenings, I think *Magic *is very good, but not great. Maybe it was all the hype about this being a more rocking record. I think it’s a little lighter than I hoped for. I think it’s strong in the beginning and the end, but weak in the middle. I hear a lot of people saying they don’t like “Radio Nowhere” but I think it’s one of the best tracks. I love “Long Walk Home” too. I like “I’ll Work for Your Love” the least. But that’s right now. Bruce’s later work seems to take longer to grow on me then his classic stuff did.

As a companion album to this one, I bought “Play It As It Lays”, the new one by Patti Scialfa a.k.a. Missus Springsteen. Very nice melodic album, it’s a perfect complement to “Magic” (even though she’s also on her hubby’s album).

Okay, you got me–I just ordered the two albums I don’t have–Play It and 23rd Street Lullaby. I liked Rumble Doll, so…!

Damn, but it’s way too easy to open a second tab and shop with about four mouseclicks… No wonder I’m broke.
