New Swiss army knife

The only SAK I own with a locking blade is one of the non-carry convenient 5-inch ones, which already has some legal issues some places with a 4 inch blade.

Your logic is impeccable, far superior to my writing.

Both tools have 2 blades and scissors, a bottle opener and a narrow and wider head screwdriver. Neither have a saw which is not only excessive it makes the knife thicker. So each model is near the penultimate point on a volume/efficacy basis.

Then again, the Explorer model looks tempting. h/t Xema and Fear Itself.

Oh, I just thought of a way of handling TSA problems. Pack a serviceable envelope in your carry-on as backup. Include a set of stamps. Hand to airline counter person.

I’d never buy one. It doesn’t have a Swiss Army Knife.

Just to clarify, the Explorer is a full slot thicker than the Super Tinker/Camper. About 4-5mm thicker and maybe 1/2 oz heavier. FWIW.

I resolve the SAK/Leatherman conundrum in the classic manner: I carry one of each on my person on a daily basis. As well as a 13-function utility pen. And yes, I do regularly find uses for all of them.

I’m not sure what the models are, but my SAK is a Wenger with screwdriver/bottle opener, can opener, saw, scissors, large blade, nail file, Phillips, awl, toothpick, and tweezers, and my Leatherman has pliers, ruler, can opener, changeable bit large and small screwdrivers, scissors, large blade and serrated blade, file, and saw.

Gee, just what you need to sit by the lake and whittle a piece of wood…easy to hold and use!
