Or maybe I could log in once on this sock account, see if I get zapped, then immediately log into my real account to see what happens.
Also, you probably should use the same browser you use for Siam Sam.
If you log out, you should have the ability to log back in as Mr. 222.
Just popping in for a test. Not zapped this time under my sock account.
After 11pm in Bangkok, I just logged in on Firefox, and no zap. I tried once or twice today too, and no zap on this account.
And just to shake it up, I’ve logged into my real account on Chrome. No zap.
Where are the zaps when you want them?
I think this is a good strategy, operating both accounts at once. If I get zapped, it’s going to be in the beginning. I’ll limit this account to this thread. And then on my real account, I can still keep up with my subscribed threads. I’ll alternate browsers, eventually I’ll get zapped somewhere, and then I can report it here.
Cool your jets.
Just zapped again on this account.
But NOT zapped on THIS account.
I’ll ad that for the zap, this real account was logged in on Firefox and my sock on IE. I’ll try to start using IE for the real one and see if that matters.
Friday night and I just got zapped for the first time on my sock account. I’ve signed in on Firefox. When I got zapped this morning on my real account, it was on Firefox.
However, I know I’ve been zapped before on IE, so I’m not sure this is a Firefox thing. I’m going to sign in now on my real account using IE and see what happens.
And now I’m logged in on my real account in IE. No zap.
So here’s the tally: After logging in several times today, I was zapped twice – once on this real account and once on my sock account, both times using Firefox.
But again, I know I’ve been zapped before on IE, so I don’t think it’s a Firefox problem. I think it’s just the luck of the draw for today. Will keep trying.
Oops! This is getting confusing. That last post in my sock account I meant to post in this real account. But the tally remains the same. Here’s the post again:

My buddy from upcountry is in town this weekend, so I may not be logging on at all tomorrow. If not, then Saturday for sure.
This really is getting confusing. I just posted in another thread frommy sock account by mistake. Hope that doesn’t make too many people wonder.
Anyway, before I log off, just to recap:
Two zaps today – one on real account, one on sock, both while using Firefox, but I know I’ve been zapped on IE before too.
Thanks, Sam1 and Sam2. We can keep this running for a while but it doesn’t look to be based on user account.
Unless I am missing something, our last remaining hypothesis, without being able to look the logs is server to server synch issues.
@TubaDiva:
Is is possible for you to find out for us if they are using two servers?
Is there any way we can take a peek at the logs? (I know that you have no control over whether or not we get permission)
This is, by the way, outside of my expertise but others who have been following this know better what to do with the information.
I think if this experiment is going to be useful, you need to stop jumping around between accounts and browsers. The purpose of having a second account is to change a single variable while keeping everything else the same.
Log out of Siam Sam completely and don’t log back in from any device. Log in as your SiamSam222 account and browse and post to the site like you used to. Note when you get zapped and what you were doing: does it happen right at login, after browsing a forum or two forums or clicking on a thread, etc. Any correlation with computer or browser?
If we see that you keep getting zapped at roughly the same frequency as before, you can abandon the SiamSam222 account (hopefully the admins can merge it with your current one so your posts aren’t lost) and move onto isolating browsers or time of day.
I explained that upthread but Sam is reluctant to do that for some reason without explicit permission from Tuba and she hasn’t responded. At least not publicly.
I’d still like to get the other information so we can at least look at things in parallel.
This seems pretty clear cut to me that the new account has been blessed to help debug this problem. The staff isn’t going to tell someone they can make a temporary sock and then ding them for using it.
I’ll ask Jerry. I’m pretty sure we got two servers, though.
I’ll also ask him if they’re synced. They’re at DesertNet, so it’s not like Jerry can walk into the server room and look at stuff directly.
But here’s the thing: If it’s a system-wide situation why is it only affecting a few people? Why just SiamSam and a couple other people? Not trying to be difficult here, just saying.
That’s a very good question and we don’t know yet. We hope to find out by trying some simple experiments to eliminate variables.
Is it ok for Sam to exclusively use is sock account for a week or two?
