Just had an idea for a new vB feature, wondering what you folks think. I think I might suggest it to them at their MB.
The idea is basically that it would be nice to be able to “bookmark” particular threads (without actually having to clutter up IE favorites / Netscape bookmarks / etc.).
Then you could log on, and go to a page where you could see the threads you’ve bookmarked, sorta like your own forum.
This’d come in handy both for A) keeping track of threads you are active in, and B) keeping track of those threads (like the ones that show how to do various formatting tricks) that you frequently refer back to for information.
Homer’s right. We’re having slowness problems as it is, and servers are very limited beasts. Sorry, that sounds like a great idea, but we only have so much capacity.
Hmmmm. Well, I don’t use the email-me-if-someone-posts feature, because for active threads you get far to many emails, so I usually end up using the search engine to look for threads. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I’m not entirely convinced that a feature dedicated to tracking threads (all you’d really need is a table with userid and thread number) might not be better overall efficiency than forcing people to use that search engine to find threads…
