New Vegas Headliner, Matt Goss: Should I Know Who He Is?

On September 4, to much hoopla and a huge ad campaign, The Palms Hotel/Casino is opening their new, in-residence headliner, Matt Goss.

Supposedly he is a huge hit in Europe, and The Palms is known for being the source of cutting-edge, hip entertainment, so my guess is this guy is quite good.

Now chances are also good that I have maybe even heard a song from this guy - I listen to the local MIX radio station, but have an older car radio that doesn’t show the name of the singers - so quite often I can hear a song hundreds of times and still not know who sings it.

So my question is, do you all know who Matt Goss is?
Is he talented enough to be the next big headliner here in Vegas - pulling in crowds of eager (European?) fans every day/week/month for a long term gig?

Never heard of him. All I get when I google is stuff about a travel writer named Matt Gross.

Try Googling “Matt Goss Palms” and you will see just the tip of the iceberg of reports.

Ooh! Possibly… One half of hit Brit boy-band Bros in the 1980s? Twin brother Luke went on to a career as an actor in Hong Kong cinema and featured as the antagonist in the second Hell Boy movie.

That’s the only famous Matt Goss I know of.

Yup, that’s it. I only know about it because they were talking about him on a recent episode of a podcast I listen to, “Five Hundy By Midnight”, a Vegas travel podcast. They played some of his music. I did not like it.

I saw a youtube clip of him performing just now. Ugh, awful.

He was one third of a teen pop band called Bros along with his brother Luke and “Craig the Drummer”*. Really awful, with none of the redeeming features that good pop music often has.

  • Craig is a head honcho at a major record label last I heard of him

I’ve heard the name. That’s about it.
