Mm, good point, and I think my version of Rawr is out of date. (For some reason, every time I update it and use it with WinXP and user controls set on high, I have major trouble getting it to run properly without resetting some stuff.) I do still have the Black Heart in the bank. I should update Rawr and rerun it, see what it thinks.
That’s right! My only Druid is like 22 and I’ve never played her Feral, so I completely forgot about that change. Ferret Herder, you might actually want to look into picking up a Stamina trinket for that slot, if you’re feeling min-maxy.
ETA: If you have The Black Heart in the bank, IMO ditch the Armor trink for it immediately.
Eesh. Raiding with a fire alarm in your ear doesn’t sound fun at all.
Quasi, if you’re interested and want to see what achieves you can get related to fishing, hit Y to bring up your achievement window, and click on… I think Professions > Fishing. There’s a lot of nifty things you can try to get for fishing (and cooking and first aid).

That said, three of us were trying to take down the Twilight Corrupter in Duskwood. BM/MM hunter, rogue, shadow/disc priest. I’m impressed by the people who’ve soloed him on wowhead as the bugger is immune to most of the hunter tools I use for situations like these (Conc Shot, traps, running like hell, etc) and is a fast runner to boot. I don’t normally work blue but after that I was swearing loudly into gchat. As it was, we got him to 50% before calling it a day. I feel for the rogue – she’s been trying to down him for yonks. But I did stick a Glyph of Mending into my BM (pvp-spec) set and if I can get the Lesser Flask of Resistance today, I’ll be better armed. shakes fist
If anyone has any hints for the Twilight Corrupter aside from arm-twisting two more people into coming (preferably a shaman), that would be awesome.
Little Arhiatlel is now capable of healing the first two H ICC5 instances; I haven’t tried solo healing H HOR yet – we’ve generally two-healed the first part with good dps in the group which makes things so much easier.
That said, healing through Bronjahm in one of our H FOS runs last night got interesting though – the mage got dead very fast, and I was helping GL by pinging the map where the orbs appeared so she knew where to kite. The two DPS left alive were kinda slow on switching to the orbs so it went on about twice as long as it ordinarily would. I was actually helping out with wanding in between flinging heals. I don’t think I’ve been so glad as I was to see Soulstorm arrive in a while as I was starting to sweat a bit. In any event, I popped Shadowfiend after I ran back in from getting feared, and ended up finishing out the boss fight at about 40% with people sitting at about 50-70% health. Go me.
Is anyone else excited about the new Event Boss system that’ll be in place for Ahune this summer? (THE ICE STONE HAS MELTED!) I’m looking forward to shaking him like a pinata to get gear for alts although I’m not sure there’s going to be much for ICC-geared people other than the super special boss loots.
FWIW, the TOC 5-man trinkets seem to be just amazingly good for their level. As far as I can tell, my Holy Pally’s best trinkets are the i245 +128 Intellect trinket you can get from Triumph badges…and the i200 +84 Intellect trinket you can get from TOC5. It’s just like The Black Heart in that, while there are some upgrades, they’re very few and far between. The only serious upgrades I have for it are in Ulduar, and even if I found an Uld25 PUG every week that could get to Mimiron, I’m not guaranteed to get it. I had to run TOC5 about 5 times in a row before I got the trinket. I think I’m better off just riding on the i200 trinket until Cataclysm.
I was thrilled when I saw the loot was 232. The staff and the tank and caster cloaks will be an excellent boost for my Druid, and the DPS cloak will be a good boost for my Ret spec (though I’d prefer a Str piece).
Yeah, my druid’s been pretending to be a boomkin for a long time now. For some reason I started loathing raiding and have been randoming for emblems instead. I hate the “go go go go go / AOE DPS everything” style of randoms so I don’t tank them unless it’s for guildies (and they still love to go omg berserk about AOE and pull crap off me). So I doubt I’ve even tanked with that trinket on outside of a few heroics.
Not sure if this one’s necessary, but it’s nice to know I don’t have to go back to AH to just see what’s available. Of course I never used a bank-toon either.
Is there an updated loot list for Ahune somewhere or did you just see he would drop ilvl 232 stuff this year?
Just saw something on mmo-champion that I had been wondering about ever since Blizzard released the talent tree previews, where did Master of Deception go? Now I know. (And, yes, my latest alt is a rogue ;))
It was gleaned from the Armory and collected in this WoW Insider post.
I didn’t notice until I installed IceHUD that when you do that Tuskarr daily with the sea lions and you lead the bull to the cow, they get a “buff” that says, “These two need to be alone.”
Today my human pally got thrown into H:HoR right in the middle of the second wave of trash before the first boss. I’m all, “Wait, what’s going on? What do I hit?!” I finally found a target though, and we got through everything fairly easily. That heroic has actually been pretty easy the last couple times I’ve done it. I’ve finally figured out my ideal strategy during the “run from the LK” stage. Stand near the tank, wait for him to gather up those non-elite ghouls, drop a Consecrate, fire off a Holy Wrath to stun everything and keep them standing on the Consecrate, and then Divine Storm. Pretty much takes them all out extremely quickly and we can go to town on the elites.
Holy Wrath is great for that section of HOR. I always take the time to drop a Consecrate and Holy Wrath when the ghouls show up, before the elites arrive and I have to spend my time healing instead.
They also respond nicely to Mind Flay - like you, I have usually already shielded everyone and PoM’d the tank and have a few cooldowns to go to town on the dps buttons before I need to start healing again.
Actually wound up finishing HoR a week or two ago with about three seconds to spare and felt kinda smug that I’d been blasting away with my DPS spells about 20 percent of the time; if I hadn’t, we’d have been toast.
What did I just download? It seems like a really small update…anyone know what it does?
Nice. I think I’ve finished HOR about three times on my Pally, and all three times we made it within 6 minutes.
Nothing here … (but I’m on a Mac).
Did that my previous time in there! I don’t know if I did it this time - I didn’t see anybody get the achievement, but that could mean everybody else already had it just as easily as it means we took longer than six. Or is there a timer I should be watching?
BTW - anybody planning to sign up for Real ID?
I’m gonna say “no”, mainly because of this:
I like my friends, but I also like having characters that aren’t on their Friends List so that I can play by myself when I want to without a bunch of whispers and invites.
Okay, disregard. There was no patch when I logged in this morning, but when I logged in again this evening, there was a small patch. It was too quick, though, and I couldn’t see what it was.
I have a policy about friendship and adding friends.
If I meet an adult because I compliment their gear or ask for explanation or strategy and we chat back and forth and develop a “rapport” of some kind, I will ask if it’s okay to add them to my friends list.
I have never had a “no”, but here’s what I do:
When I see my friend come online, I will greet him or her (first) and ask how it’s going. I’ll also usually tell them where I am and what I am doing, and then wish them a good fight or whatever. If they want to speak further, fine. If not, then that’s it for the night.
I will do this twice, and then I’ll wait for my friend to take the initiative. If they don’t , I may log off for some reason, then log back on to see what happens. If nothing, then I leave them be, but leave them on the list.
Why do I do this?
Because several times now, I have seen the same friend come online and then log right back off. Probably to play another toon, who knows, but it’s happened 4 times with the same friend.
My feelings aren’t hurt, and I make sure I NEVER take advantage by asking anyone to group with me. If I need explanation of a quest, I’ll go to Thottbot or here, and so I’ve been able to fend for myself for quite a while now.
Sometimes a friendship begins with a salute or a wave, and it is kinda nice to speak to some other adults in-game.
LAST night, I said to everyone (in white): “Eating a popsicle with one hand and maneuvering my toon with the other! I must have it pret-ty bad! lol!” It got a lot of lol’s and one wsp saying she was doing the same thing.
Thanks
Q
I do that all the time - I have several toons that I play somewhat regularly, so when I’m going to be playing one toon for a while, I may log in each of my other toons first, just to check their mail. So I’ll log in, see there’s no new mail, and immediately log back out. I don’t bother to look at my friend list, since I don’t plan to be on that toon more than a minute or two. If one of my friends sees me log in and says “Hello”, I’ll reply, but tell them I’m just checking the mail and logging right back out to play a different toon.
Remember that when your friend logs on while you’re on, you get a notice that they’ve logged in, but they don’t get a notice about which of their friends are on. They have to manually check their list, and if they’re only logging in for a few seconds, they probably won’t check.
Well I made it to level 60 with the warlock(demonologist) and hunter(BM) and figured I’d finally go to Sunken Temple to finish that Warlock quest for the +SP/hit staff. Wrong wrong wrong. Wiped 3 times and called it quits(having never even seen a troll) thinking I could just grab it off the dungeon finder. Wrong again apparently. Only instances 55 and up show on the list. Is there any way to get in on a run there at level 60? Or am I destined to try again at 65 after I upgrade equipment doing the daily randoms?
Also, as a total newb(have only been in Wailing Caverns at level ~50 to get a spiffy snake pet) what should I do to prepare/stock-up for my first random dungeon? I’ll probably take the warlock first since it seems more self-sufficient.
