New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

That’s what I figured - it’s probably covered under “privacy concerns”.

Agreed. My GL’s reasoning was that holding the events there was good “publicity” for the guild, to hopefully attract new members in a more interesting way than spamming General or Trade with recruitment messages. But it clearly attracts more asshats than potential members.

There was major controversy in one of the games over something like this a few years ago, and it may be the event** Palooka** was referring to…

From what little I almost remember, seems like a guild member died in real life. His guildies wanted to do an in-game memorial service type deal for him. Unfortunately, they did it in a pvp zone, and advertised the event in public forums. Asshats found the temptation to be true to their nature overwhelming, and raided the memorial service, completely ruining the event. Think the official GM response was something like “sorry, but there’s a pvp solution”.

Yay, first Kodo. On my Tauren, too.

I called it. Ram dropped for me tonight. It’s the same as the AV one, with gold barding instead of red. Also got the Brewmaster title.

Most satisfying of all–I smoked three different 'locks in a single BG. Did I mention the part about how I hate 'locks? Cuz I do. Demon humpers. There is no higher use for a cool down than a KB on a frakkin 'lock.

Those things are hard to catch. I thought you target them and then right-click on the net?

Thanks

Q

Target them with a left-click and throw the net at them. Once they’re caught, go stand on them until the disappear and your quest tracker shows the count going up.

Don’t attack them/kill them! If you kill them, you don’t get credit.

Thanks, Mr. Rik, I’ll do that!

Q

Nothing but Frost Emblems off of the Direbrew keg-chest again. I did, however, manage to make enough tokens off of the ram racing to get the BotM Club and Brewmaster. Yay, me!

My draenei mage just got the remote …

Jayjay, does the above apply to me as well?

If I understand correctly, those items can’t be sold and MUST remain in the GUILD vault to be used ONLY by guild members and if I keep getting drops which I don’t want to auction or sell and deposit them in the guild vault, I have to then buy another guild section, even though about 99.9% was my own spoils>

Also, for some reason I keep putting stuff like consumables and weaponry ( such as automatic weapons coater, and trinkets) in both the action bar AND bags. How do I correct for this?

Thanks

First part of your question, if you’re selling pieces from the vault and putting the gold you get from them back into the guild vault as coins, that’s fine. That’s actually part of your job, managing the vault. No problem. Even as guild leader, I wouldn’t skim from the money you get by selling items. Just put all the money back into the vault. That both frees up space and puts more money into the vault for the guild. What I would do is decide how long something should sit in the vault before you decide it’s not going to get used. A couple of days near the end of that time (say you decide to clean out every other Friday or something), change the guild message to “Vault gets cleaned out Friday…use it or lose it!” or something like that. Then do your cleanout (I would generally only take non-consumables and/or green/blue items out and sell) and put the money back in the vault.

Second part of your question, nothing is actually STORED in your action bars. Everything is stored in your bags. When you “move” something to the action bar, all you’re really doing is putting a button on the action bar that connects to the item in your bag, so that you can use the item without having to open up your bag and rifle through it to find it. You SHOULD have everything on your action bars that isn’t an ability also show up in your bag.

To give an example, the icons on your action bars are just like shortcuts on your Windows desktop. Let’s say you have an Internet Explorer shortcut icon on your desktop. That icon isn’t actually Internet Explorer - it just points to it so that you can launch IE without having to dig through your folders to find the actual program every time.

Your WoW action bars work the same way - they just point to the item in your bag or the skill in your skill window so that you don’t have to open your bags or your skill windows every time you want to use something.

Part 1: Okay, understood.

Part 2: I think I was under the impression that the stuff was taking up bagspace as well as action bar space.

Another Q-uestion: When fighting a winged creature, does it help win the combat if one jumps while striking them?

About borean leather: I’ve been skinning right along near Nesingway camp and sending the pieces of leather to my mule Wollkie to auction. At some point (there are about 120 pieces in there) I’ll take them from the bank where they are stored and auction them.

Thanks for the help

If you’ve already engaged it (that is, if it’s already fighting you), probably not.

I had exactly three things to do to complete Brewfest, since I wasn’t 80 last year. Eat a sausage, drink two ales, and kill Coren Direbrew. Poor Coren died ridiculously fast and I got a Tankard O’ Terror for my two minutes. Damn shame I don’t have a level 80 Shaman. Even if I started one now, Cataclysm would hit before I was done and the Tankard would be worthless.

Heh heh heh :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of Brewfest, anybody else notice that, AFAICT, the game never once says “beer”? None of the available beers actually have the word “beer” in their names.

I wonder why that is. It’s not like avoiding calling it “beer” is going to deflect any criticism of the event promoting alcohol use. And they don’t have any problem with in-game beverages being called “wine” or “bourbon” or “rum”.

The answer to the question in the cartoon is obviously “gathering up frost badges and packaging them into neat little two-packs.”

Well, I finally got it, after we collectively realized that our idea of the timer for Moorabi’s transforms was totally wrong.

I wuvs my Red Proto-Drake so much. She flies like a big goon and her name is Flammie.

Grats.

My pally now has everything he can get from Coren apart from the damned +Haste trinket. It dropped once but was ninja’ed by a bloody gnome warlock who will get no use from it. Arrggghhhhh.

My warlock doesn’t have any mounts but did pick up the pocket watch which was a big upgrade so very happy about that.

Oh and Oakminster re your hate of locks - that succubus turned you down didn’t she? You know the answer to that right? I’ll give you a hint - it’s no accident that polymorph turns things into sheep you know…

I now have 4 Tankards o’ Terror amongst my 5 level 80 characters, and no characters who can use them. :stuck_out_tongue:
