I can solo a lot of group quests on my druid, but that involves stacking dots, kiting, and self-healing. Did both of the naga bosses that way in the swamp between Hellfire Peninsula and Shatt (forgot name of the zone). Without the ability to self heal, it’s gonna be tough. The cool down on potions is too long to save you in that kind of thing…
They actually changed potions a while ago so that you can only use one per fight, period. (Technically you can drink one just before starting a fight and then another after the cooldown is up, but anyway).
Oakminster, the potion mechanic changed quite a while ago. Now, you can only use them once per combat, regardless of their cooldown status. The only way to have the effect of more than one potion on you during a combat is to “pre-pot”–take a potion before you start combat, and then take another one once the first cooldown is up.
Thanks guys for the help. I’m back in Zul’ Drak cleaning up a few greens.
I had to abandon the flight of the wintergarde - whatever - where you rescue helpless villagers with the dragon?
First of all, the dragon only lasts so long before it tells you it’s going to drop your ass if you don’t clear the frick out. Secondly, the villagers run so fast I can’t keep up with them, and I haven’t even gotten one up on the dragon with me yet.
Does anyone else find this one difficult or is it my manual dexterity?
It isn’t really, but keep in mind these are trolls. Running to the GMs wastes their time, which would be better spent nailing hackers and gold sellers. Learn to work around them, instead and you beat them at their own game.
After reading through this and the previous WoW thread (yes, all of it) I wanted to introduce and make my first post in here.
Playing a priest and a bunch of alts on Silvermoon currently.
I first started playing back when the game came out, even bought the collector’s edition. But after my friends rage quit a few months later, I packed up too and started playing another online game. Also lent my account to another friend who was interested in playing. Fast forward to a few months ago, and I asked my friend for my account back, since they weren’t playing any more, and started playing again.
Grats Quasi - are you going to Storm Peaks now? Questing there starts at level 77.
I got my Argent Tournament Tabard last night to finish off my crusader paladin and I admit I spent a while trotting round Dalaran on my Argent Charger with my squire on his pony. I see they’re removing the portals from Dalaran in Cataclysm so I may got some use out of the tabard when the expansion hits it’s a short flight to Dalaran from the tournament with all the trainers and the bank.
Welcome to the thread omenran I look forward to hearing about your progress.
If you do head over to Storm Peaks, Quasi, make sure you pick up Cold Weather Flying (from the flight master in Dalaran, 1000g) first. Most of that zone is inaccessible unless you can fly in Northrend.
I have a DK in a Spanish server because I happen to know some people who play there - it’s basically a way to have a place where I can drop by and say “hey, how’s your life”. This is a ridiculously-skewed towards Horde PvP realm: several of these players are the kind who speak about PvP as “the only acceptable way to play” as if being in that realm makes their balls clang, yet they happen to play in a realm where sighting someone from the other side is a reason to call the news services :p. My cow refuses to eat meat and uses any excuse to cast that self-healing spell you get from being a herbalist (while exclaiming “pretty flowers!”). When people tell me “you’re weird”, I tell them I’m just a refitted druid.
I’m not much into PvP the way I often see it in WoW, but I like making up background stories for my characters which explain where they fit into their world. The stable of gnomes and dwarves I have in my main server are all related (directly or foster), stuff like that. I’m planning on keeping my eventual worgen in wolf-shape too… anybody who asks “why don’t you use your normal form?” will get “this is my normal form” (I’ve had that happen a couple times in the PTR).
The fact that you’re getting a message about the dragon disappearing tells me that you’re probably in the wrong area. They don’t want you to be able to fly all over, so if you go outside the correct zone, you’ll get a warning to turn back and then it will despawn your mount.
Check the description of where you’re supposed to be picking up villagers carefully, then check where you are on the map. Looking up the quest on Wowhead may also give you further details on exactly where you should be.
Part of the GMs’ jobs is to deal with assholes in the game. If they get reported often enough, they’ll get banned. Then everybody wins.
Welcome back to WoW, and welcome to the thread!
Woohooooo! Almost there, Quasi! Now hurry up and go train your Cold Weather Flying. It’s always *such *a relief to be able to fly again–life is so much easier!
Got into a PUG…ToC25…actually made our way to Anub, but couldn’t put him down because the adds were taking up all of our time…got him down to 35% twice and then people had to bail. I lead most of the time in dps, and pretty much stayed alive until the wipes with Anub. The guild that was doing the invites were pretty impressed that some of us scrubs can actually be cohesive enough to get that far and so I felt that the humanity of WoW puggers is not totally in the shitter. Vent also helped.
I always seem to spend more time in a zone than I need to, so I was still questing in Sholazar Basin when I got Cold Weather Flying. It was awesome to have in that zone. I forgot how nice it was to be available to easily avoid enemies if you wished.
There are some quests in Sholazar that require flying (good luck getting to the tops of the pillars, for instance); I think you’re “meant” to get flying in that zone (thus the cold weather flying trainer at River’s Heart).
