My Curse Client is checking in periodically as the patch updates. That’s a good thing, right? I only have a few add ons from them; Auctioneer, quest tracker and flight timer.
I’d say “upset” is putting it midly. I’m obscenely pissed off. Thanks for fucking over the majority of your raiders, Blizzard. Great idea there.
It’s times like these that I’m really happy I haven’t yet bothered to give my UI a complete customization overhaul. If individual bits and pieces don’t work, it won’t be fun, but it won’t be game-breaking in the same way. All the same, I’m not relishing finding out what tools I’ve come to rely on will be broken tonight–especially not while also trying to deal with a new way of tanking that involves such joys as Revenge allegedly being bugged so as to cause *negative *threat.
Wow.com (aka wow.joystiq.com now) has an article up with a list of addons that have been updated, and links to them on Curse. For the others, just try enabling out of date addons and it should be fine for most of them.
This would probably (though not always) work for a regular periodical patch (x.x.6 or whatever). The big number patches almost always change things so radically that most of the add-ons go kablooey. I remember first discovering this with 2.0.1. just before Burning Crusade and having to scrap the whole thing (Panther UI, waaaaay back when).
Yep; what my sweetie was kind enough to tell me was:
Shields. Get your shields up 3 times before you enter combat; you will notice that with one shield up, you have red things rotating around you; with two, yellow things; with three, green things and you’re good to go. They last a minute, so no worries about them fading real fast.
Same goes for the other guy; you won’t strike a good hit unless his shields are down, but worry less about that at first and more about your own shields.
Basically…Shieldx3, and then attack. Whatever attack you use <don’t forget to use the lance option on the left when he’s close in> do one attack, then do a shield, to keep your shields up. When he’s running away, throw a shieldbreaker at him, then try to hit charge before he does. Then put a shield up.
Rinse and repeat, and it more or less works for me.
Shield x 3; hit him; shield; hit him; shield; repeat until he gives up or you get a headache.
Well, like most of the free world, I’m downloading some part of the patch at the moment. The weather is bad here, and my estimated time remaining is bouncing all over the place. as little as 33 minutes remaining, then it jumps to 75 minutes remaining, then 54, back down to 30, etc.
Dunno if it will settle down enough for me to play tonight, or if latency will be to bad either, considering the weather. On the upside, if I’m not playing WoW, I think Caprica comes on tonight…
I must have the Collector’s Edition! This will be the first expansion launching while I play. So yes, I have an Electronics Boutique (Canada’s GameStop) and a lot of other electronics stores, but I also have to work that day and will not enjoy standing in line at midnight launch. I settled on ordering from the one online place that still had the Collector’s Edition in stock and hoping they’ll get it shipped promptly. An estimate is just an estimate, after all!
Well, now I get for free what I had to spec all the way in arcane for, previously.
Guess it’s time to try another tree, as the arcane power that is now the penultimate spell is something I have never used, not once.
