In good news my laptop charger turned up early in bad news it took me most of the evening to download and install the patch so I got little playtime. One thing I have noticed is that the UI pop up windows seem huge though my resolution hasn’t changed, can these be modfied?
Oh, and the 310% speed buff to all flying mounts for free (if you have a 310 mount) is sweet.
I didn’t have enough JP on my pally to get any more T10 gear (I had about 650) but it was enough to upgrade my libram from the 200-level one to the Frost gear one, which was a pretty decent bump in stats. It’s too bad the special effects on librams are gone, but it makes upgrading much more straightforward.
I got little playtime yesterday. Massive lag most of the evening. Did go ahead and buy the remaining T10 pieces, spent about 800 gold gemming/enchanting same, but I’m 5/5 T10 now.
Tried a heroic, got HoR with a failtank. Wipe, group disbanded before first boss.
Tried some pvp, but Horde were running their damn GY camping premades. GY camping should be grounds for a perma ban.
Also parked my mage in Ironforge. Seems to be less lag there than in Dal.
Had to send the boy to bed earlier last night because of the patch problems, but to pacify him, I let him sleep in his kitty-kat jammies with the ruffles:
I made sure he tucked 'em in nice and tight, too.
I also went ahead and let him sleep with his sword, but got him up way early this morning for the flight to K3 where we’ll be for the next couple of days.
Things do seem to be moving smoother this morning, though.
You mean GY camping without attempting to win? Like farming honor but not capping the flag in WSG? Or do you mean GY camping while holding all resources and having someone running the flag or whatever the objective is?
Because I think the first is bad (and I always ignore people saying “don’t cap, let’s farm some honor”), but the second is perfectly reasonable. My response whenever my side is getting camped/destroyed is “stop crying, make your own premade, or get better”.
PvP in BGs got much more fun when I started going with a group of 3-5 guildmates (including at least one healer). Can’t wait for rated BGs (arena is OK, but I like the tactics of BGs better - allows for more creativity and strategy).
I do think that a temporary immunity upon rezz might be useful (say, 10 seconds - just enough to run past a GY-camping team). They’d have to put some limitations (can’t cap a node in AB, for example, and obviously can’t attack while immune).
What a clusterfuck. Several of the addons I tend to rely on to give me important information while tanking (Tidy Plates: Threat Plates, Grid, ClassTimer) don’t appear to be working properly. Threat is weird. Shit is broken (e.g., some nameplates just deciding they won’t show up). Performance is completely unbalanced by class–some shot way up (most casters) while others were cut off at the knees (most melee). Somebody, maybe here, said they felt like the patch was rushed out to make sure it was live in time for Blizzcon, and I have to agree.
OH AND whose bright idea was it to remove one of my three taunts, which isn’t even technically a fucking taunt but rather a fixate? Did the other tanks get nerfed like that, too? Fucking annoying as hell.
It came out a while ago that they’re going to make it an ability exclusive to the expansion. That’s why it’s trainable–so that they can restrict the purchase to characters on accounts with Cataclysm.
Old Weather Flying? Really? I didn’t see that at all. Maybe your spellbook was bugged.
It might be too late at this point, but you could consider opening a ticket asking them to refund the money and remove the skill. You could at least ask if you could get the money refunded that you wouldn’t have had to pay if you’d bought the training from a faction that would give you a discount based on rep.
Well, um, yes. And we’ve talked about it here, too, I’m quite sure.
1.) Everybody got a decent health buff.
2.) Some classes, including yours, got a big damage buff.
3.) Some classes, not yours, got a big damage nerf.
I don’t keep up on PvP news, but I think they may have also made other changes towards their Cata goal of making PvP less burst-oriented.
Orly? That’s excellent. I’m gonna dual-spec it up so hard on all my alts.
Multishot.
Yeah, it was a big mess. I manually downloaded the latest pre-release version from the official site and that fixed everything.
Patches make everything crazy. One option is to crank all of the settings down to the absolute minimum. But when even that isn’t helping, I generally say “hell with it” and log off, because, yeah, otherwise I’m going to be throwing something out a window.
It was really hard to balance around.
A friend of mine was talking about his issues with 4.0 on Facebook and said the following:
That sounds like an issue that was actually present before the patch. Sometimes your combat log just breaks. There’s a macro to clear it that should reset everything, or you can exit and re-enter the game. (The next time you lose all your text, check the combat log. If you don’t see any incoming/outgoing damage or heals, that’s probably the issue.) I usually test whether or not it’s fixed by having someone throw a HoT on me.
I think this is what you want to use: /script CombatLogClearEntries() But you may want to double-check–I can’t get to any of these sites from work.
Woooooooooo!
IIRC, it’s in the list of known issues that the RDF doesn’t show your bonus JPs.
It’s not just that–it’s universal mount scaling, AFAIK. *Every *mount will scale to the highest possible speed for its type based on your location and Riding training.
You may want to see what non-tier options are available from the Frost vendor. Most classes will only wear 4/5 of their tier and replace the last piece with something better.
It’s a PvP problem with a PvP solution.
Bwahahahahaaaaaaa. It’s so nice to see the softer side of Wolkie. Glad to hear game performance is getting back to its normal levels for you, too! I’ll be off the board tomorrow, so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed to come back on Monday to a post announcing your ding to 80.
Try vuhdo in the meantime. Same functionality (maybe a bit more if you customize it properly), similar look, and it’s been updated for 4.0.1. You may even end up liking it better
My husband was annoyed at Grid still being broken, and downloaded Healion for his holy pally to use - that plus the new Blizzard raid frames just might do the trick for him.
The Justice Point conversion was highly favorable - my 80s got 1-2 T10s at minimum, and my priest got her 4th T10, the “Frost-level” non-set robe and belt, and still has over 1k points. She has no 245 trinkets, so I wonder if the Int one would help at all for Disc.
Meh. If the Allies have lost all the flags in Arathi, and I’m trying to get the “win 10 battles with all 5 flags” achieve, I should sit in the Stables and let them form up for a zerg rush instead of locking them down?
You should be pissed at your teammates for being bad enough to let it come to graveyard camping.
(An exception for farming Warsong Gulch - if you can run the flag at will just do it and win the damn battle already).
Camping a BG graveyard without actually trying to win the match? Dickish.
Having a team at the other team’s remaining spawn point in EotS (for example) to slow rezzers down (or kill them outright) before they can attempt to re-cap a resource or take down a flag carrier? Smart play likely to end the match sooner. Also required for certain BG achievements (5-base AB, 4-tower EotS, perfect scores in either).
If it’s gotten to that point you’ve already lost, and a quicker end is the best outcome for both sides (since you earn honor when the match ends and you can queue for another one where you have a shot at winning). Complaining about the other team killing you when you entered a zone primarily for the purpose of killing them seems a bit… off.
As SFG says (and I hinted in my first response), the solution is to do better in the BG before it gets to that point (whether that means gearing up or just going with a group of friends).
ETA: I guess the difference is when it happens to me (and it has) I don’t find it humiliating at all. I have no problem acknowledging that sometimes the other team is better (either individually or as a whole). And sometimes it’s my side that does the curb-stomping. That’s just how it goes, and learning to accept the bad losses is part of the PvP game.
it’s not the bad loss thing. It’s the rezzing to immediate stunlock/death thing with no chance to fight back. That’s not fair, it is definitely not honorable (regardless of whether “honor points” are awarded), and it is horrible sportsmanship. How you play the game is as important as how well you play the game. In my world, anyway.
Well, at least in battlegrounds, it’s a warfare mentality. Chivalry died in the battlefields of real-world Europe in the 14th Century, when yeoman longbowmen could shoot down knights at unchallengeable distances, and all the knights could do was run or die. Now, winning is playing unfair, and the best opponent is the one slain before he can be a threat.
It’s perfectly in character of warfare to GY camp. It sucks, but losing is supposed to.
It’s a BG, Oak, not a dungeon. You’re in there because you consented to be set up in a game against members of the opposing faction. You’re not working together. You’re there to kill each other. You get rezzed with full health. Rez together with the rest of your raid and kill them back. You have class abilities and trinkets to get out of the stuns. And if their entire raid is camping your GY, that means their objectives are undefended, so if you hold them down long enough to get even one person out of range, guess what–either that person is free to run around and cap whatever they want, or they have to break people off from GY camping to deal with them, which frees up the rest of you.
GY camping may be kind of a dick move, but they’re not breaking any rules of the game. There is no reason to call for it to be a bannable offense. If you don’t like it, fight back. If you don’t like people killing you, period, don’t PvP. It’s 100% consensual in WoW.
Like I said: it’s a PvP problem with a PvP solution.
Okay, for you raiders out there…who’s got a decent raid frame that works and doesn’t take up half your screen even when resized to its minimum?
I normally use (and love) X-Perl, but it seems to be broken (it doesn’t show raid frames. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon, but for now it’s not an option). Instead, I’m currently using Blizzard’s default new raid frames and I hate, hate, hate them! They’re too big (I run a 30" monitor, and the damn thing sticks out at least a quarter of the way into the middle of my screen!), they’re ugly, and they don’t even seem to display buffs/debuffs properly! Right now, I’ve got a bastard hybrid of Blizz’s frames (for raid) and X-Perl (to show my own buffs and debuffs) and it’s making me very unhappy. I plan to go back to X-Perl as soon as they fix it, but if anybody could offer me anything to use in the meantime, I’d be grateful. The two features I value most (since I’m a mage and a DK tank–I don’t have a healer) is compact size and the ability to show the raid markers assigned to various raid members (like, for example, when Sindragosa is picking ice tombs).
Also, has anybody been able to get DBM or DXE to work? Our raid was quite amusing (not!) last night because nobody had timers.
Like I said, it’s poor sportsmanship. No amount of rationalizing is ever going to change that. I really, truly, and honestly wish people that do it would get perma banned. Preferably after being required to log in and watch a GM disenchant all of their epics or other gear. On all of their toons, across all servers. With DNA sampling so they can never play any mmorg ever again. I would also require they be branded with “I fail at life” on their foreheads, but that might be a little harsh.
