New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Yeah, the new-new Armory is on Battle.net right now. I don’t know if they’ll migrate it to Wowarmory.com eventually or what, though.

Isn’t the old Amory still (perpetually) listed as being in beta, anyway? So now, what, they have *two *beta armories? That’s just silly.

Certainly only one who’s neither a pally nor a tank.

I tried to pull up Quasi’s armory for Wolkie. Found several characters by that name, but none were 80 human warriors on a server that starts with an “A”. Oddly, I did find “double L” on Alex-something or other, which I think is Quasi’s bank alt.

That’s because the actual name is Wolkenlaufre.

Heh. It took me a while to realize that that helm doesn’t have a “beak” - it’s just the visor in a permanently raised position. And her shoulders are pig shoulders too! They’re just the warrior T10 shoulders, recolored.

Unfortunately, my current tabard colors (dark brown and gold) don’t go well at all with my mage’s T10 getup (which is various shades of purple), so she goes without the tabard (and wears a Pink Mageweave Shirt under everything, which nicely complements the dark purple where it shows through the cutouts in the robe).

There appears to also be a 3D option, but a mouseover shows a tooltip that says, “This feature is not yet available”. The new Armory also appears very slow to update - it’s still showing my paladin wearing the dress she logged out in three days ago, despite the fact that she’s logged out in her full PVE combat kit the last couple days. However, the items listed alongside the portrait are her combat kit - they’re just not being reflected in the portrait.

And both versions of the Armory continue to display my three-weeks-out-of-date tabard.

But Quasi has alts named Wolkie and Wollkie, which may be who he was referring to.

Oh, also, I’m glad I hung onto my paladin’s Mark of Supremacy trinket after somebody pointed out some months ago that it was wasted space because all it was doing was putting her way over the hit cap.

Once reforging was introduced in 4.0.1, I reforged several pieces of gear, turning portions of their +Hit Rating into +Mastery, then re-equipped that trinket to get back what +Hit was lost in reforging. And still had enough +Hit left over to even reforge some of the trinket’s +Hit into +Mastery.

Oh, one thing that tickled me yesterday - we were recovering from a wipe, and to tossed a heal on someone in the party… which critted for over 42,000 healing (including the 27,000 overheal). I had just purchased/gemmed/enchanted my new T10 helm, too. It was that new big, slow heal that pallies get… I forget the name.

I had something similar happen to me. I’d gotten the Talisman of Resurgence (which I’m not going to link 'cause I’m at work), which has +128 int on it. I got it because my 2s partner thought that it’d be helpful if I had more mana, and therefore had to LifeTap less.

Well, I still was only meh at 2s. But now that Intellect has replaced Spell Power for the Warlock stat of choice. . .well, turns out that was a wise investment. And, honestly, I’m really liking reforging–I’ve got myself just about at hit cap, and I pulled betweek 10-11K on the Lich King yesterday.

Double L is my auction mule, Wolky is another character I created who doesn’t really have anything yet. Wolkenlaufre is the correct 80 warrior. I think I’d better delete one of the low levels to avoid confusion.

Thanks

Well, yeah, but you could at least *theoretically *replace them with the Pally T10.

I don’t think there’s any confusion, really. **Oak **just didn’t know that we always refer to Wolkenlaufre as Wolkie here.

Oh yeah - the Armory also only shows characters that are level 10 or higher. If Wolky and Wollkie are lower than level 10, you won’t find them on the Armory.

Another bra!!! This one with handles???

I put on the cultists robe and this is what I got.:o:dubious:

After that lady in Elwynn told us to get the hell out, I couldn’t WAIT to get him out of that contraption and back in his normal gear.

Jesus Christ!

Thanks

Q

PS: I haven’t looked for him on the armory, Rik, but Wollkie (Double L for short) is a level 11.

Absolutely right. I thought your 80 warrior was named “Wolkie”, so that’s who I searched for in the armory.

Looking at your gear, I think you’ll notice a dramatic boost in performance as you upgrade stuff. Decent chest piece, and I think you have one other purple…maybe wrist? That’s a good start.

I haven’t done any price comparison shopping, but there is some gear on the vendors in WG…the guy on the mammoth on your left as you enter. That stuff is probably cheaper (and lower quality) than the Wrathful or Furious Gladiator lines, but may still be a significant upgrade for you. I think that vendor has boots, rings, maybe a cloak available…

SfG or some of the other warriors can tell you what stats are best for the class. My guess is probably strength and stamina…maybe with preference to strength for PVP or DPS roles.

Did you remember to whirl it around your head and ask for tips when you took it off?

I’m glad I can make you laugh, my friend! I’m not really upset over it, but I guess I see things differently than normal folks!

Thanks

Q

Thanks, Oakie!

Because I’m big into RP, I treat my characters as real live friends. Hence the nickname, Wolkie.

They also get their names bolded, just like y’all do!

Thanks for looking at my stuff!

Heh, one of our players logged a hordie in to see the reactions in Ogrimmar, and by and large the reaction was “we COULD go kill them, but they killed Garrosh so that’s fine by us.”

On the Alliance side, that NPC would be Archdruid Fandral Staghelm. I know many an Alli who would be happy to join in and help the Horde do Immortal No Longer as long as they also went after Staghelm.

That was me you healed…I had to do a double take because at first I thought I saw +24,xxx, but yes indeed, it was +42,xxx.

Lay on Hands? Mine has an 8 minute CD.
