New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

For everybody who’s been missing QuestHelper:

While the addon is no longer officially supported by its developer, at the moment there are only a few small changes to the code necessary to make it function in 4.0.1. You can download a version of the addon with those small changes here: http://code.google.com/p/questhelperredux/downloads/list

Note that if you use something like the Curse client, you’ll have to download this version manually, delete your old QuestHelper folder, and replace it with this, then tell the client to ignore this new version of QH, or it will overwrite it with the non-working version from curse.com.

Idiot of the day:

My mage queued up in the RDF, and got PoS. On the way to wiping on Garfrost, the tank and I were the only ones still standing …

… and he yells, “Dude! You need to heal!”

:smack:

Um, the healer was the first one to die. I’m the mage. I can’t heal, dude.

Then, once everybody was dead he says, “Sorry guys, I gotta go. Heals suck.”

This tank was a nelf warrior named Gunnagetu from … Cairne.

Nope, Divine Light.

My husband was healing Old Kingdom as his lvl 80 pally tonight. The tank was a DK and yelled at my husband for his obvious trouble healing him on the first couple mobs. My husband was confused, as he’d really struggled and used every trick he had. Then the tank charged into a group of four before anyone else was ready, and just dropped like a rock immediately. The DK said, “Heal much?!” so my husband replied with, “Mitigate much?” He knew he was in trouble when the tank asked what that meant, and one of the DPS said “uh oh” as well. My husband checked and saw the DK in Frost presence, and asked why he wasn’t in Blood; he got back the snotty response, “Frost is the tank spec, not Blood.” :smack: Hubby dropped group immediately.

My husband has an 80 DK, and he knows full well that these days, Frost and Unholy are DPS, Blood is tanking.

I also pointed out that when you had to respec your DK with the patch and got the new talent tree, the trees had big icons on them, showing a big shield for Blood and swords for Frost/Unholy.

Addendum: Once my dungeon deserter debuff ran down my mage requeued… and was put right back into PoS. May as well have just requeued with the other 2 DPS after the tank and healer quit - wouldn’t have made much difference, time-wise. Made it through the second time without a single death. Finished that, queued again, and got FoS.

Why does the RDF hate my mage so much?

I can’t find “the stabled Elwynn steed” for the Grand Melee daily. I am at the stables “outside the pavillion” and finding every horse but the right one. Can someone help me? Just give me a “landmark” that’s close.

Also I have more than 250 Drakarri Offerings dropped from various kills, can I vendor these or might they be used later?

Thanks

Q

Aren’t the “Stabled” steeds the ones in front of the Champions’ Ring, over on the south side of the western arm of the big building?

You can use the Drakarri Offerings for blessings from the troll shrines in Zul’Drak. If you’re done with Zul’Drak, go ahead and vendor them.

Yes, there’s a row of stables, and the horses I see are a quel’ dorel and an Argent warhorse, but no Elwynn steed.

Drakkari offerings: I have a few (now green) quests in Zul, and they’re still on my list because
they are incomplete or I found them too diffcult.

“Leave No One Behind” is one of these. I have the first two, but can’t get Josephine back because I lose my way. What do the blessings do for me. Sorry, I’m not being obstinate, but I just can’t see any benefit.

Thanks, jayjay

Blessing of Zim’Torga gives you an overall 10% boost to all your stats while in Zul’Drak. The Zim’Torga shrine is at the little grove near the Leopard temple.

Blessing of Zim’Rhuk gives you 91 mana every 5 second while in Zul’Drak. Zim’Rhuk shrine is directly north of Zim’Torga.

Blessing of Zim’Abwa gives you an extra 245 attack power while in Zul’Drak. Zim’Abwa shrine is directly southwest of Argent Stand.

First, make sure you have your lance equipped. Then walk past that Quel’Dorei Steed to the horse a bit further down the line. This one right here:

It’s “Stabled Stormwind Steed”.

You must have your lance equipped before you can mount up on these mounts.

Rik, what is that thing hanging down under your toon’s unit frame? And is that the turtle in the middle of your bottom row of mounts?

I love looking at other people’s UIs…so fascinating to see how people set their screens up.

To piggyback** jayjay**'s question, which addon gives you that info bar running across the top of the screen?

Stock UI paladin’s Holy Power indicator.

Sea Turtle mount fished from Northrend pools.

Titan bar.

TitanPanel, actually. I usually turn off the XP/Hour display once a toon hits 80, but everything got reset after I trashed my WTF folder while trying to solve a problem. I figured I’d go ahead and leave it there, since my current 80s are going to start leveling again in a couple weeks.
Aggravation: My warrior was doing the Black Knight jousting quest at the Tournament, and it was completely wack. It took me four tries. While he was still mounted he just kept running away, running away, and running away some more. Then when he did attack, he was hardly doing any damage, while I was severely thumping him. Then when he’d dismount and do his “Get off that horse and fight me man to man!” thing, it wasn’t auto-dismounting me as it had done the previous three times I’d done the quest, and of course if I dismounted myself, he’d just run away. On the fourth attempt, he hadn’t managed to do so much as knock a single shield off me during the jousting portion, so when he dismounted and attacked me I was still at full HP and full shields. So I sighed and figured, “Oh well, I’ll sit here and let him hit me until he’s done enough damage to dismount me.” But his damage output was pathetic, and it was obviously going to be a long wait. Another player finally took pity on me and ran over and one-shotted him, and I got the credit.

It was like Blizzard nerfed him and forgot he needed to be able to dismount you.

Amusement: I flew into the Tourament arena and spotted a guy with a broom in the bleachers. I moused over him to see who he was: The Argent Custodian :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh please with whipped cream and strawberries and a big fat cherry on top, yes, I’ll hold him down with all my chars from both sides while the Hordies rip him to shreds. I’ll also volunteer to rez his skinny, uppity ass so he can get ripped to shreds again.

Amazing how much a bunch of 1s and 0s can irritate the hell out of you…

I hate getting the “PUG deserter debuff” when a group breaks up and the last person is link-dead. Sigh. Is there any place you can see that you have it? It doesn’t show as a debuff, unlike the one from battlegrounds.

Thanks, Rik

Apparently I took the questgiver too literally when he specified stabled Elwynn mount, and also if I had been equipped, I would have seen that green round arrow as I passed by the mount and taken it.

Thanks

PS: Having a great time looting my bandage materials by myself in the Stockade! Thanks, Oak!

You can probably do that in most of the old world dungeons as you level your bandaging skill. At 80, you’re a human wrecking machine to anything 30 or more levels below you.

I’d avoid Stratholme, though. Those Nerubians in there like to web you to the floor and then stand 20 feet away casting spells at you. No fun for melee fighters.

Hit lvl 80 at the weekend with my first alt, retribution paladin. Is it worth investing much in kit atm, or is Cataclysm going to make a lot of it obsolete anyway, as soon as it comes out?

Sure it does. There’s a debuff in your buff bar for it.

What you might be running into is the requeue delay, if you’ve been in the instance less than 15 minutes. It just makes you wait out the countdown for the remainder of that 15 minute time. The PUG deserter debuff is a straight-up 30 minute wait.
