New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Rather than wait until I got home, I did some searching anyway. Looks like that level 83 number wasn’t put forward by a blue name, but just speculation on WoW Insider. Seems like sound reasoning, though.

Stupid-ass raid cancelled because of no-shows last night. Mumble grumble. On the plus side, some of us decided to band together to work on our 10-man drakes, so I picked up a few more achievements I needed for it (LDW’s, RF’s, and FG’s). That leaves me with, I think, PP’s HM and achievement, DWV’s achievement, Sindri’s HM and achievement, and the LK’s achievement.

'Cause it’s easier to just turn rain effects on and off, I’d guess. I actually was thinking about this myself just last night, when I was hovering outside ICC and happened to look up in the sky–there was lightning in the clouds! No rain, though.

Grats!

Until you have another character hit 80. I so completely burned out on doing these quests on my Mage. I don’t even bother with the dailies for cash on my main anymore.

IMO, it’s hugely annoying. Unless you set your chat interface back to the default, there’s a really obtrusive text entry box (the one that would normally show up just when you enter text) that displays all the time, which can be distracting. And regardless of which setting you’re using, it seems that they’ve changed things so that your next line ALWAYS goes to the last thing you were talking to–e.g., if you talk in Raid, then whisper someone, then hit enter again, it will pop up a line for that whisper–not for the raid chat.

Yeah, that seems to be happening to everyone who completed the quest last year.

Just chiming in to confirm that it’s been officially stated that the current Heirloom items *will not scale *past 80, nor will they give the XP bonus past that level. There will probably be new Heirlooms introduced at 85 to bridge that gap (either as new items, or perhaps in the form of tokens to upgrade old ones).

Standard Blizzard practice is to make the people who want to be first to complete new content work for it, then smooth the road for alts or people participating later. If they allowed heirlooms to work to 85 right off the bat, then people who haven’t invested badges in heirlooms would be at an immediate disadvantage; the world- and server-first achievements would go to the people with the “correct” gear. Once people start hitting 85, then it’ll be cool to allow heirlooms.

On a semi-related note, we should be seeing the ICC buff increase to 25% next week. :stuck_out_tongue:

It already did.

Ah, did it? I knew it would be this week or next, and I hadn’t seen any news about it. ICC25 should be pretty darn easy tonight.

Understandable. They don’t want leveling to be a pointless grind to be rushed through as quickly as possible to get to max level: it should be an experience of its own. That’s why they didn’t let us fly in Northrend until 77.

Can’t out-buff stupid. :stuck_out_tongue:

True that, but you can out-buff mistakes. Plus the extra 5% damage will help the Lower Spire fights finish that much faster; we only allot 3 hours a night for raiding, and on a fresh night that usually gives us enough time to make a couple tries on Rotface but no more. I really hope to do Valithria Dreamwalker at some point.

I wonder if the RL will let me roll on any Marks of Sanctification tonight…I don’t have a T10 piece yet, but I’m only about 23 Frost away from it and it’d be nice to upgrade it to 264 straight away.

Truer words were never spoken!

If ICC25 was pretty easy for you before, it’ll be even easier. We blew through the whole thing in 3.5 hours last night, leaving us half an hour to work on heroic LK. Our fastest clear ever, and that was with a couple of wipes because we weren’t taking things seriously. And that was everything on Heroic. So yeah, it’s gotten easier.

LK heroic is still hard, though. And I miss AVR. Even though I don’t really need it (and did fine without it) I still found it kind of useful on a couple of fights.

Depends on the mistake. The extra 5% does give some very nice extra breathing room, though.

It’ll be the one time that you can legitimately use Crusader in raid!

Your loot system just gets weirder and weirder. Open rolls, except not, because the RL decides who gets to roll?

Explain, please. I’ve only done Dreamwalker twice, and haven’t yet succeeded, but I don’t know what you mean here.

Marks can only be rolled on if you have an actual T10 piece to be upgraded.

Course, I suspect those loot rules are mainly to keep the puggers in line, and they’re flexible for guildies. I suppose that’s not exactly fair, though.

Crusader Aura works inside the portal. Faster speed = collect more orbs = stronger heals.

That’s what I suspected, but it seems weird that Crusader would work when you’re not mounted. But still cool. Although the fight I was on portal duty, it was hard enough to hit those spheres just at normal speed.

Oh, that makes sense, then. I could even see allowing a bit more flexibility with guildies vs. PUGs–say, letting a guild member who’ll have the badges they need by the end of the night roll on a token that otherwise might go to someone who you’ll never see again.

I think it’s a side effect of permitting characters to fly unmounted, but I don’t know for sure.

Am I safe to assume that the Aura can come from any pally in the raid – in other words the pally doesn’t have to be phased into the dream, right? I never noticed if my pally buffs followed me into the portal but I assume they do.

Now that I have no idea.

I’m not sure. Because the auras are radius-restricted, I’m *guessing *that Crusader has to be coming from someone in the portal.

Ding de Ding Ding Ding level 80 achieved. Went for some Wrynn’s shoulders for 30 emblems, and have socketed with a blue +30 stam gem. Wonder how long to save for the next piece. If I can get some guildies to run heroics with me the time will decrease.

Grats!

If you’re queueing as a tank, you can blast through as many instances and Heroics as you can stand. I don’t know about regular dungeon queues, but Heroic ones are, IME, <5 seconds for tanks.

If you run randoms, you’ll earn between 4 to 8 emblems per instance, with 5 being the most common amount (3 bosses + 2 for completion). Most instances can be completed in 30 minutes or less if everyone knows what they’re doing, so it’ll only take about 2-3 hours to get enough emblems for another piece if you’re willing to chain-run that long.
