I’ve also been toying with whether or not I want to start some new toons, just to explore the changes to the various starting zones – but I don’t know that I want to keep track of more characters. Still, it would be something different, and would beat the heck out of running my rogue through the Zul’Drak quests (and the subsequent zones) for the fifth time. Sounds like others have created new toons, are you finding them fun?

I rolled a baby troll rogue to check out the new area and I thought it was pretty fun, a lot more interesting than what it used to be. I’m saving the undead and other areas for my goblin when Cata drops so I haven’t been playing him a lot. I’d definitely recommend you check it out if you need a change of scenery.
Had a decent weekend grinding some rep with the goblins and other cities. Saturday was just horrible for me as a tank, getting huge lag spikes, entire dungeons playing through like a slide show, ended up questing in Azshara for the rest of the night. Sunday it was smooth as silk except for a few lag spikes, chained randoms with quite a few pugs and good times were had by all. Still haven’t reached Exalted with the goblins yet, but I don’t really want a Big Wheel either.
After chaining randoms all day I decided to have a little fun and dress up like SFG. Then I payed a visit to Garrosh before standing outside of Grommash hold and dancing until I returned to normal. Then the darned hat turned me into an undead instead of a goblin.
First heroic on my mage, after scrounging up enough gear to get him just over the 180 item level cutoff. That’s always a rush. I’m just thankful I wasn’t trying to heal or tank the damn thing. I wound up #4 on DPS, which isn’t a terrible surprise, but happily I didn’t screw the group, except once when I jumped off a ledge and my water elemental went down the stairs and aggroed a spawn.
Still, we got Respect Your Elders and Volazj’s Quick Demise, so it was a smooth run. Not a single usable piece of gear dropped. Grump.
I first saw foxes and went to get one from Redridge. I took a mama fox, travelling iwth her babies…and she immediately ate her babies.:eek::eek:
A few minutes later I saw the black fox, rawr. Disposed of the genocidal fox, picked up the black one.
I want a white one! Or silver, silver would be perfect.
The white one’s all your fault I figure I might as well have fun with the looks of the foxes, cause they’re really just vanity pets. The aoe is sucky in dungeons, and they don’t do much else.
Grats and the answer to your question is yes new toons are fun, it’s a new game. My Forsaken priest, who was only created to have a look at the new Brill, is now level 17 and taking the righteous battle to the doggies in Silverpine. The extra touches are amazing and the way you get from quest hub to quest hub really well done, without spoiling anything getting to the Sepulchre is awesome.
I may also take off my BOAs to avoid the heirloom XP bonus as I am worried about out levelling the content at the moment. I found a
very useful map here Level Flow showing each zones level and where you’re expected to go as you level up.
G 35 Logitech Surround Sound Headphones
Does anyone use these and what do you think of them?
I still cannot hook up my Logitech speaker system to play WoW with because we live with my elderly sister-in-law, but it may be possible for me to pick up a pair of these 'phones if y’all think they’re all right.
So last night I ran H:HoR with the new fox (so he was lvl 77), thinking he wouldn’t influence things too much. But my DPS was in the crapper and he kept on getting the Red mood, which was bugging me because I gave him the ability to make himself happy in the pet talent tree…wait…waitaminute…yeah, I don’t know what happened, but apparently clicking ‘Learn’ didn’t work the first time. So I ran H:HoR with a pet with no talents. I’m hoping now that he actually has his talents saved that my DPS will move back up (I keep us together in Recount).
I keep running into these well-meaning, well-equipped high level players who want to help me and won’t take no for an answer.
Over the weekend, I got into a conversation with a nice guy who wanted to run me through a dungeon with his group to help me get better gear. I met him in Dal, he told me I needed better gear and I told him I was basically just doing BG’s and farming in order to do that, because I just wasn’t good in groups.
Then he gets all parental and tells me he’ll “look after” me and to hang on, he’ll be right back.
So hell, he and I and some others went into one of the dungeons and it wasn’t long before the criticial shit started to fly. So I left. I haven’t heard anything from him.
On quest rewards: The staff you get for the level 20-ish Druid quest (I picked it up at 26, but it might have been available several levels earlier) that takes you through Shadowfang Keep is crazy awesome; it has an animation that loops every 10 seconds or so and grows leaves (and sheds them), then flowers, then mushrooms. I showed it off in guild chat and Shin immediately vowed to get one for Kahmu.
I hear you, Q. I love it (not) when I join a group with one of my baby toons and someone goes “mage, u gotta go arkane, fire suks.” Yeah, well, and you ought’a lern2spel, and I didn’t ask for your advice (the second toon I ever made is a mage, she’s been level 80 for… uh… about 23 months).
The other day one of those caught me in a particularly bad mood for some reason and I actually answered that. He called me a bitch and quit the group. We got a replacement before I’d finished apologizing to the group and they’d finished telling me “it’s ok”.
Got ninja’d on a roll for Reins of the Black Drake on Friday. Put in a ticket. Got a response today, and Blizzard won’t restore it. This despite the fact that the guy’s own guildie also opened up a ticket. I’m really, really bummed; I have legendarily bad luck with rolls, so it was amazing that I won, and I really wanted that freaking drake. Sigh.
And, of course, Cata comes out in a week, so if I’m lucky, I’ll have exactly one more shot at it.
Did you use the term “ninja” in your ticket? Because from everything I’ve heard Blizzard basically ignores any ticket that uses that word, on the grounds that, by definition (loot ninja: somebody who takes loot they’re not entitled to), "ninja-ing’ is impossible under the stock “Need before Greed” loot mechanics. Basically, under “Need before Greed”, if the “Need” button is available to you, then you’re as entitled to that loot as everybody else who has the “Need” button available.
They will, however, deal with loot “scams”, where loot rules were agreed to before the run and then the Master Looter reneges on that agreement and takes the loot for him/herself despite not winning the roll. Unfortunately, in order to enforce the agreement, the agreement needs to be stated in writing in party/raid chat (not just verbally in Vent) before the run starts, so that Blizzard can go back and review the logs and find evidence that the agreement was violated.
I took my dwarf warrior to Western Plaguelands last night, and she found herself at Mender’s Stead, a little quest hub populated by a coalition of Argent Crusaders and Cenarion Circle druids. There are some very entertaining quests involving Azeroth’s most incompetent (or possibly most-stoned) druid
For those of you who want fox pets for your hunters, there are some “normal” orange-colored foxes above the Northridge Lumber Mill in WPL, near the road to Hearthglen.
Oh, another awesome quest: the first quest in the new Hillbrad Foothils zone (Horde side). You get to sit around on top of a horse with an exclamation point over your head while a buncha adventurers come buy and pick up quests from you. Fun!
So i was actually lucky enough to get a battered hilt over the weekend. Since they aren’t worth all that much any more (and i’m a sucker for lore & achievements) i decided to just do the quests even though the weapon isn’t upgrade.
Pretty cool questline, its a shame that its content that so few will ever get to see.
Also, i’m trying to get a mage that i never touch up to 80 before cata and i found out that you no longer get to do the battle for undercity after the wrathgate cinematic. I was kind of bummed, but the cinematic is still EPIC even on the 5th go around
