Tom, I got my 80 DK down to Hillsbrad to check out the Peacebloom vs. Zombies game down there (I’m stuck at the pumpkin level right now…god, that’s HARD!) and, while I was looking for the farm, found Executor Darthalia. That quest-giving quest is incredibly funny, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up seeing those three at some other point in Hillsbrad, too.
The sad but hilarious thing is that I’ve met the player toon counterparts to all three of them, more than once (and, for some of them, BEEN the player toon counterpart).
Heh. No, I didn’t use the word “ninja.” It was the latter situation. I’m not sure how clear chat was; however, I did also immediately IM the guy and asked if I’d misunderstood the rules–I didn’t think that I had, and given what he said to his guildie, it was pretty clear that I didn’t–but he logged. So I’m pretty sure it was him being a jerk. I’m hoping the guildie’s ticket on my behalf–she opened it just after mine–makes a difference.
So has anyone noticed that although our widdle Anduin is growing up, he’s still lvl5, and Abe the Cabin Boy is still the same size, but lvl15? That’s right Anduin, the cabin boy will kick your ass.
Weird. Could be they just screwed her up with the patch. I think I remember the exact NPC you’re talking about, too.
Just don’t try to do all of them at once, or poor Wolkie is going to end up in pieces…
Well, now that they have a bed that won’t get dripped on…
My semi-informed guess is that it’s a new change. I learned Polymorph: Pig from a quest in Azshara quite a while ago. With the changes to the zone, presumably they moved it to this new NPC.
There’s no way that anyone in chat could know if the problem is your connection or your computer. They’re just jerks being jerks.
Below 60 is ***fine ***for FPS, if not optimal. Below about 25 or so is where things start to get choppy.
That’s not your RAM–that’s your hard drive space. (If you had 465 gigs of RAM, that would be an amazing amount, and about a hundred times what most people use.) Your HDD is kind of like a library, that stores everything. Your RAM is “memory” in the sense of it keeping track of whatever information your computer is actively “thinking” about right now.
Mostly, it’s just a pain in the ass to haul extra gear around and swap sets. I think a lot of people formed their habits before the advent of the built-in equipment manager, when changing outfits meant either running a separate addon or manually exchanging every single piece.
Personally, I have a ton of clothes stashed in my bank (with all of the non-Soulbound pieces in my AH mule’s bank), but I almost never take them out.
Good grief, I don’t know if I should congratulate you, hand you a stiff drink, or enroll you in a 12-step program.
Haaaaaahahaha! Excellent.
Sometimes, even having things in writing won’t get you the items back. Both pieces of Mage T10 dropped in a VoA25 for my Mage a week or two ago; the ML accidentally gave them both to the other Mage in the group; the dick was supposed to trade one to me, but he stealth-logged instead. I opened a ticket, figuring I would easily get the piece back, since the chat logs showed the ML telling the person to trade me the item, but all I got back from my ticket was some vague platitudes about how they’ve decided not to take any action.
Where do you pick up the Goblin tabard? I saw a bunch of those trikes in BGs yesterday and they looked fun. Plus I’m still trying to hit my 100 mounts so that will help.
I was exploring Hillsbrad foothills yesterday on my main and in the Ruins of Southshore I saw a mob (and angry slime blob or something like that) which had a red exclamation point over it. I didn’t know what that meant, so I killed it, which started a quest. I guess that’s a new quest mechanic! So I finished the quest and the follow-up and turned them in, even though they were 55 levels below me. Then I went and found the plants vs zombies quest, but I only did two rounds before running out of time. I’ll have to finish up tonight, maybe.
I haven’t actually seen it with my own eyes, but I’m guessing (as it would be consistent with the other factions) that the goblin quartermaster is in Bilgewater Harbor in Azshara.
WoW seems to have VSync turned on by default, and I can’t see an option to disable it. Personally, I find the movement looks awful as soon as it drops below below 60 (because it’s drawing some frames twice). With other games with VSync disabled they are fine at 30 fps. Is there an option to turn it off somewhere?
So for some reason I used to think I’d never be able to use the faction tabards. I think I got them confused with something you needed to be Exalted for and thought ‘why the hell do I need something that gets me rep with a faction when I’m already at Exalted?’, plus they used emblems and half the crap you could buy with emblems seemed to need a certain amount of rep.
I figured this all out yesterday, and hopefully I’ll finally get the Stormwind horsie that I’ve wanted for damn near a year.
Yeah, tabards were first introduced with Burning Crusade (I think) and for those factions they’re a trophy for reaching Exalted. With Lich King and Cataclysm, tabards are available at Friendly and used to show you’re currently fighting for that faction.
It’s nice because I was wondering how I was going to grind Goblin rep (I’m exalted with the rest of the Horde). The tabard will do nicely. I picked up the UC tabard yesterday, just for racial pride, which gave me the Ten Tabards achievement.
Do all Horde factions start Friendly with Goblins? Or do I need to do some quests to get there? IIRC Forsaken/Belves start Neutral with Orcs/Trolls/Tauren and vice-versa.
World of Warcraft uses the default D3D settings for vsync; you can disable it through your driver settings. I wouldn’t bother though. Just turn on triple buffering.
Another 1k G sent to Wolkie by Double L (from auctions - I guess I could let Wolk’ do that, couldn’t I - but I just like giving L something to do). He’s a Level 11 right now and I really need to level him up some more.
Haven’t been to the Argent Tournament grounds in quite a while and there are some dailies which I’ve been avoiding, so maybe I’ll go back there tonight.
I still farm in that cave on K3 and tried to see how far back it goes, but once you pass the purple spiders and the snowblind miners, that’s pretty much it. There is one quest in the cave which I have yet to master and it’s rescuing that one little miner, but I’m still having trouble finding our way out of there and he gives up on us, once we double back a couple of times.
The good thing about that cave is that when another player is in there with me, they will let me skin their kills (always makes me feel like a dumpster diver/scavenger, but it brings in the g’s). Sometimes I’m lucky and the other player will have hearthed out or left and all the spiders will not yet have re-spawned. The spiders are 77’s and I really need to go after some 80’s now. It’s just that they’re so convenient, ya’ know? I DID go to that Brunhilde Village (where the Silkas get small?) and found some 80’s wolves.
I also keep checking in the AH for better gear, but there’s either none to be had or it is so outrageously priced that I don’t even bother with it. I now buy mostly potions, elixirs and foods there.
So for now, I’ll just keep pluggin’ away in the BG’s (I did Warsong Gulch and Alterac last week)
while I wait on Cata to begin.
How do you show it (the actual animation) off in guild chat? I clicked on the weapon link you provided which just displayed the stats (as usual)…is there something new here that I don’t know about?
Some new achievements have been added since the last patch…I’ve been poking around the new fishing achieves that you can work on now (the Oceanographer and the Limnologist) which is essentially fishing for virtually every single fish from all continents (including Cata fish…so you can’t finish the achievement just yet).
Also, has anyone noticed the loremaster achieves? They did keep the achievements and divided up the number of quests for each zone now (like they did for Outland and Northrend), but the numbers they gave me are all screwy. I read somewhere else where they RESET the quest chains, which I haven’t verified yet. Maybe someone mentioned this upthread, there was way too much stuff for me to catch up on over the last week.
Also, I propose a new thread to start when Cataclysm comes out on December 7th…with a very descriptive thread title, so we get more people in here.
Though I noticed over the weekend you can now zoom in (mouse-wheel) on the dressing room window. I think this is new, but maybe it was there all along and i never knew it.
They don’t get smaller — you get bigger. Those women there are all the same size as those big vrykul you run into elsewhere in Northrend (that is, 2-3x bigger than you), but if you did the quest chain that leads you into that village, then you’re getting a disguise (actually an illusion) that makes you look just like them, size and all.
Been there since 4.0.1, I think. Not just the dressing room, but also your regular character portrait in your character screen, and the preview window at the AH.
Grinding up goblin rep has been interesting this weekend.
I started by buying the tabard and queuing for heroics. That worked ok; I think I was pulling down 900-1200 rep per heroic run. But the H HoR was kinda painful in the middle; for some reason, the dr00d healer started spamming HoTs on everyone in the party between spirit waves (before pull) and all four ghostly baddies in the next wave fell on him like 15 tons of ectoplasmic rage. I have never seen a healer die so fast. The discipline DPS priest tried to take up the slack, and we survived one more wave, but the next one after that, it was wipe-time, followed by nerdrage, followed by mass disband.
I tried tracking down quest chains that give Bilgewater Cartel (henceforth, “BC”) rep. The quest lines in Azshara were worth a few K rep. It turns out there are about a dozen quests in Felwood, worth about 2-3k rep mebbe, AFTER you’ve ground out all the Emerald Circle quest chains (starting in Emerald Sanctuary). So that’s about a dozen or more “non-productive” quests to get out of the way before getting into the “gotta get mah Trike” quests.
Also, I’d never recommend this because it’s actually less productive than running 80 heroics, but soloing old-sk00l instances (pre-Burning-Crusade) also grant BC rep, at a rate of 3 per elite mob and 60 per boss. The upside is that you’re only responsible to yourself, and you’re the only person who can be a d-bag in your group. The downside is, as I mentioned, reduced productivity (for time spent). OK if you also wanna grind out some old recipes or materials (enchanting reagents, for instance) or just see the revamped dungeons (and kill their inhabitants). For myself, I went to Deadmines for about 700 rep, to see the place, and to tame a monkey with a pickaxe!
Several people in my guild got Exalted with Bilgewater by taking advantage of something that has since been hotfixed–apparently you could kill 6 of the 7 dwarves in the encounter in Blackrock Depths, then wait for them to respawn and keep killing them, which got them 360 rep per respawn. I didn’t get in on this so I’m not sure how fast they respawned, but my guildies were saying that it took about 3 hours to get to Exalted.
