There are some beautiful, almost ice-blue, foxes in Gilneas. If you turn to the right after you go through the gates and go up on that hill/plateau, they’re up there. Also, Gilneas Hounds…can a hunter tame those?
Yes, my hunter tamed one of the hounds. Interestingly, and confirmed at Petopia too, they change color each time they’re summoned. I think there are 3 color variations.
Sue-weet. Off to Gilneas!
I’d like a pet for Wolkie, but so far all I have is that core hound dog (“You ain’t nuthin’ but a core-dog…”), my polar bear cub and my kitten that SFG gave me, and I don’t think any of them can fight, but might give me a second or two while an enemy goes “Awwwwww, now ain’t that cute!!!” to get “rend” ready!
Q
You might even be able to use some of the guild bank stuff, Oakie!![]()
How do you wanna do this - I let you know when I’ll be on (about 7pm)?
Thanks
Q
Warriors have to buy/get them through drops, right, FH?
Thanks
Q
These are for hunter pets, which fight for hunters. You’re asking about what a lot of people call mini-pets, which don’t fight but look awfully cute.
Blizzard offered a couple more for sale through their online store. Last I heard, sadly, there will be no “hooray it’s our anniversary” free pets to people who log in this week. ![]()
The hunters, I believe, were talking about their combat pets, not the non-combat ones.
The non-combat ones are purchased from vendors, yes.
Edit: there are kill-dropped pets, too.
So Wolk’s always gonna be on his own, except for the Silkas, yes? All the more reason to get mah boy geared to the teeth, right?
Q
Ah! But you’ve got Plate for armor and awesome melee skills. If you got a hold of my hunter and I couldn’t get away from you, my pet would just be nipping at your heels as you hack me up with your sword! Pets are for keeping the attention of mobs so their masters can pew-pew them away with their ranged weapons. Unfortunately, real people are smarter than mobs. Unless we’re talking about the Royal Apothecary Society. Hee hee!
Hunter Pets: I noticed that those demon dog things in EPL are now classified as “Beast” rather than “Demon”, so I schlepped my nelf hunter out there and tamed him a green one. I named him “Limbo”, which is the title of an instrumental song by my favorite band Rush, and the song appears to be named after a dog owned by one of the band members, judging by a photo in the liner notes of the “Test for Echo” album. All of this hunter’s pets have Rush-related names, with his three primary pets sharing the commonly-known nicknames the band’s members use for each other. And I assigned the names based on each pet’s “class” and the relevant band member’s role:
Cat (ferocity): “Lerxst” (Alex Lifeson, lead guitar)
Ravager (cunning): “Dirk” (Geddy Lee, bass, keyboards, vocals)
Turtle (tenacity): “Pratt” (Neil Peart, percussion, lyrics)
And today I went ahead and did the digital Cataclysm purchase, and I think it’s all downloaded already. The 500+MB that is currently available, anyway. So I’m ready to go
The Alliance has one, in Chillwind. The little house.
Way too complicated for the demented “German Boy”, kuschie! ![]()
I think I chose the right character when I chose Da Wolk’. He’ll always be special to me, even though I have other toons loaded and ready to go.
I know: we look really stupid and clownish in our gear, but godammit, it’s our gear and we fought hard to get it.
Am I taking this RP too seriously?
Maybe, but I sure am having a great time with Wolkie and our Silkas.================================
Got a “Rut-Roh”, to tell y’all about though…
smack:
SOMEBODY got greedy and moved his Borean Leather price up to 15 g’s:eek:! (wonder who???)
No one’s buying and I think that’s a sign I may be saturating the market.
Whatcha’ll think?
I saw someone underprice me with 14 g’s…
Thanks
Q
Really? I even had “Innkeeper” turned on in my tracker and didn’t notice that one.
Also, I wonder how many people are going to pay outrageous prices for the Savory Deviate Delight recipe before everybody realizes Blizz dramatically upped the drop rate on it? Seriously, my priest got it three times while questing in Southern Barrens. Learned it for herself, mailed one to another toon, and auctioned the third off for 200g+ (almost doubled her cash-on-hand!)
Actually, tonight is not really a good night for me. I’m be making a phone call that will run 2-3 hours. Tomorrow would be better, but I could maybe do something late night…like after 10:00 PM central, tonight.
I won’t need anything from your guild bank. I’m just making a disposable character to help you out. Whatever I make will likely be a level 1 human something.
Post the server here and the spelling of your 80’s name, and I’ll check this thread after the phone call tonight.
Oh no, you’re not too attached. I feel kinda like I’m betraying my first hunter pet, a cat named Chubbs, whenever I use a different pet. Chubbs was my brother’s cat and he was in the family for half my life.
When you post things using Auctioneer, do you scan the prices before you post an item? Auctioneer keeps the information from the last time you posted something. If the market suddenly went down in a week and you don’t rescan, the price you’ll be posting at will still be the higher rate from last week.
One thing that you might consider is that in about a week now, there are going to be a whole lot of new worgen out there trying to level tradeskills, which means that there’s going to be a big market for basic mats. That’s not to mention the guilds who are going for the realm-first “let’s get all our tradeskills to 525 as fast as possible,” who are going to be buying up mats like there’s no tomorrow.
My advice would be to farm a whole bunch of leather, hold on to it until next Tuesday or Wednesday, and then put it on the AH then at whatever you think the going price is. You’ll probably make quite a bit of money.
There is going to be a huge number of gatherers too. You’re just going to see price increases where the supply drops, which is going to be WotLK materials. That’s only after existing stockpiles are exhausted though. The immediate place you’d probably want to be is TBC materials. Those will experience increased demand from 80s re-rolling professions over to the new best-raid-level profession but not immediately see a glut of supply from new players.
Hooray!
My dwarf hunter, Boragnir, obtained the quest, Foxtails By The Handful, in Loch Modan, and decided he’d tame a fox while he was at it. So he stabled his bear and tamed a nearby bobcat to be his temporary pet, and headed out to collect some fox tails.
No sooner had he killed his final fox for the quest, when this little fella right here just strolled right out in front of him. So Boragnir quickly shooed his bobcat away and tamed this sexy little fox!
First ever rare spawn tame for me
This is also allegedly the only fox with that coloration in the game.
Congrats on the new fox! I’d seen that one around but thought it must be a spectral fox or something. Neat!
Regarding the auction house and pricing levels: It might be just me, or just my server, but prices on general goods seem to dip way down on weekends, due to more casual players levelling their own skills and making some cash. Middle of the week seems to be a higher-priced market. <Which is why I don’t buy midweek, but hey, not everyone’s as smurt as me
