Heh heh heh - dwarf flightmaster in Wetlands named Elgin Baelor (Elgin Baylor) ![]()
Also, don’t you hate it when you get sent to kill some horrible, marauding wild animal, and after you kill it you discover it had babies?
Yeah, Ol’ Sooty in Loch Modan now has a couple cubs, named “Smokey” and “Scoot”
I wouldn’t have noticed them because Ol’ Sooty came out of her cave after me, but it seems fox pets have this little trick where, after a kill, they’ll run down the nearest “critter” mob, which is what Smokey and Scoot are classified as. So we killed Sooty, and then my fox took off after something, and something else came zipping out of the cave. I’m all, “WTF is she doing? And what was that?” I clicked “Follow” to call her back to me, then went into the cave to investigate, which is where I found Smokey. A couple seconds later Scoot returned.
Quasi…turns out I already had a character on Alexstrasza. A level 3 gnome warlock named Graudy. Made him when I wanted to check out the new Gnome starting area. Got him parked outside the bank in SW. Gonna log in several alts on my main server to get them the 6th Anniversary Achievement, but I’ll check this thread about 10:00 Central time to see if you want to hook up and get your alts in your guild.
I need to get from the ruins of Auberdine to Westfall and no boats as far as I can tell. Any syggestions for a level 17 other than swim? Can you swim that far? I have seen some nessie type things in the water alreay so I would guess you wouldn’t survive one way or the other.
Go back to Darnasus, take the boat over to Stormwind, grab the FP in Stormwind, then run down the road to Westfall. Or buy a mage teleport to Stormwind. Lots of mages advertising portals lately.
My mage has been making money by the system of
- log in Dalaran to check mail,
- toss invites to the people yelling in Trade for portals
- profit!
The ones I’d like to use as basket balls boing boing boing boing… on grounds of utter idiocy, all-caps and usage of multiple exclamation marks are the ones who pay most. So far I’ve refrained from dropping any of those in Theramore, but maybe I should
Note to Oak: Sorry, late-night ER trip with sister in law last night and wasn’t able to sign in to WoW. Let’s try again, please?
Thanks
Q
Alliance? The boats that were at Auberdine should now be docking at Lor’danel, on the north coast of Darkshore.
OK. I expect to be available this evening.
The boats to Storm Wind and Exodar now dock at Rut’theran Village at the base of Darnassus. You can’t swim across the map. After a certain distance you will get fatigued and die.
Although, as I discovered doing the Pilgrim’s Peril achievement, you can take a Water Walking Elixir and ride across - you will get the fatigue count-down, but will make it across in time. It works well if you depart from just North of the new village.
I have 8 of those water walking things, and I haven’t used them since last Summer. I’d be happy to gift them to you, if you are on Alex and are friendly?
Thanks
Quasi and Wolkie/Silka
Can all races use the teleporter thinger at Rut’theran? Well, I suppose they must, there’s no other way to Darnassus!
There’s a flight point in the city itself now, so if you can get to Rut’theran you can get to any other flight points (such as…Theramore? or Menethil? I always forget which one is on which continent).
The flight point inside Darnassus: The only thing you want to use that FP for is travel between Darnassus and Dolanaar. If you’re going anywhere else, you’re much better off going through the teleporter and then taking the flight from the FP in Rut’Theran Village. Right now, the flight from Darnassus to Rut’Theran is long and boring. Likewise, if you’re flying to Darnassus, fly to Rut’Theran instead and take the portal up.
The pink portal has always been accessible by everyone, yes. Otherwise Horde would never be able to complete the various capital city and exploration achievements.
Yeah…judging from falling time, that’s a freakin’ LONG climb…
Note for Horde that are contemplating this right now… don’t. You will die immediately. If you must do it (like I had to for the Thanksgiving achievement) take off all your gear and bank everything before you set out. The guards (now level 85) will one- or two- shot you, but most likely you will die after teleporting. You can then spirit rezz in Teldrassil and do your thing.
As far as I know there is no way to “climb” Teldrassil. You must use the portal to get up there, and there is currently no way to survive it without a raid helping you out (I guess in theory just a tank and healer could handle it, if the Alliance left you alone).
Obviously much of this will be easier once flying is possible…
Naked corpse running is nothing new.
That will be interesting…I wonder if you can fly into Darnassus from sea level?
But I have a feeling that old world cities will have the same aerial defenses that Outland cities have always had. There are formations of war wyverns flying around Org already. I haven’t been in any of the Alliance cities long enough to be able to tell if they’ve got patrolling flyers, too, though.
They do.
