New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Hey, for those getting impatient waiting for the new version of Gatherer, I thought I’d recommend GatherMate2:

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/gathermate2.aspx

I like the way it color codes the tracking circles — handy now that you can track more than one thing at a time, so and herbalist/miner can differentiate. It also tracks fish schools.

Oh, absolutely - but until this patch you could survive for quite awhile at max level (in fact I could routinely get all the way out of Darnassus without dying). Fighting your way in and out is no longer an option solo, is what I was trying to convey.

Darnassus is particularly dodgy because if you die before the portal you rezz in Darkshore and have to spirit-rezz and do the water run again (no way to get to your corpse without fatigue-death).

And I’ll betcha anything they’ll have a one-shot ranged dismount, too. “Death from above” will probably only mean the attacking PC’s death. :frowning:

Did any major city besides Ogrimmar get a third entrance (besides being vulnerable to air attack)? It seems pretty unsecure to me.

It’s not the third entrance that makes the new setup less secure, it’s moving Garrosh up to the Valley of Strength, right within view of the main gate. The new rear entrance is the furthest from Garrosh you can get.

On the other hand, by keeping all the commerce in the Valley of Strength, the vast majority of 85s will be hanging around Garrosh’s building. It’s going to be hard to get to him without opposition (although his personality will see to that).

I’m kinda wondering about Stormwind Keep letting you jump off a ledge, land in water (thus getting no dmg) and then have people living on little islands all over the place. Especially with a portal to Tol Barad (requires 85) on one of them. If they let you fly in cities, you can get into Stormwind via the portal, quick fly to the Keep and boom stabbity Varian.

Can somebody explain to me this Trade chat joke that involves multiple people linking Thunderfuy? Because I clearly missed something.

From an orc point of view, it makes sense for Garrosh to do that. I get the feel that to him, it’s all about the presentation. “Come get me… if you can.” Thrall’s room was much more open, but he has a twisty entry way with arrow loops so it’s much harder for The Enemy to charge right in.

s/boring/AWESOME, since it’s an actual goddamn world tree now and not a funny-shaped island.

Quasi–I’m available to meet you ingame. Will hang out here for a few minutes to see if you’re on…

Oakie!!!

Trying to find you, my friend!

I’m in Dal!!!

Thanks

Bill

Sorry, I’m not logged in at the moment…but I am logging in now. My guy is a gnome warlock named Graudy, and he’s parked outside the bank in Stormwind. See you in game.

Am on now, dancing gnome on the left hand rail as you climb stairs to Stormwind Bank.

OK, looks like I missed ya this time. I’ll have Graudy logged in again at 9:00 PM central tonight, still outside bank in Stormwind. Will check back here, too.

Rolled me up a fresh orc warlock, but I was a little bit disappointed to find that the Valley of Trials experience hasn’t really changed all that much. I did come across what appears to be a glaring oversight, though. The warlock quest, “Tainted Parchment”, which sends you to meet your class trainer, has the following “completion” text:

“And now you’ve joined our ranks also. Don’t misunderstand, <name>. Just because you have access to power that many will be jealous of, it does not mean you will be accepted easily. Hellscream allows our kind into Orgrimmar because we are still his fellow kin–he cannot turn his back on us, or we would become as pathetic as the humans who enslaved him. My point is: be careful. You can be powerful, but if you are foolish, then you are as good dead.”

It’s exactly the same text as before The Shattering, but with “Hellscream” replacing the old “Thrall”. So now it just doesn’t make any sense, because Garrosh was never enslaved by humans. I suspect the swapping in of the Hellscream name was meant to be just a placeholder, and they forgot to update the quest text properly before it went live.

Oh well…Sorry Quasi. We can try to meet again tomorrow.

Lor’ Danel no boat. Across the water from Darnassus, no water wlking potion. how do I get out of here to there?

Where is your hearth stone set? It will tell you on mouseover if you don’t remember. If you have never changed it, it will likely return you to your starting area. Failing that, there’s likely a flight master around there somewhere…you should have the FP for Rut’theran? Just fly there and take the boat to Stormwind.

my hearthstone is set for Lor’Danel. I am a low level caharcter so I have ever been to Rut’theran and I don’t hink I am high enough level to fly anyway.

Completely random post:

I’m surprised the Northrend (and Outland, presumably) maps weren’t updated to include showing flight points like the Kal/EK maps do now. Not that we’ve really needed them before, but it seems like it would have been common sense to include them in the update.
