New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I’ve noticed that, since the last patch, I can’t ESC out of the opening narration when I start a new toon…that’s annoying.

Another Auction Q: If you see your time on auction items is getting short and you have no bids, is there a way to re-list all that are running short without having to receive them in the mail and going through the whole thing again? If not, it sure would be convenient to have such a thing, IMO.

Thanks

Q

I get the “Do you REALLY want to exit _________?” buttons, jay.

That quest was by far the hardest so far for me in Hyjal. Those little dudes are hard to catch!

Not that I’m aware of, but if someone knows a way, I’d love to know as well!

Yumpin’ Yiminy! These nonstop instant-respawn mobs are pure murder on my mage! I’ve never run out of mana so quickly and so often. She keeps getting stuck in one spot while one new mob after another appears in basically the same spot and immediately aggros on her.

OTOH, I’m enjoying the challenge of having to make full use of every tool at my disposal for once. Instead of Mana Shield-Fireball-Fireball-Fireball it’s more like Mana Shield-Living Bomb-Fireball-Dragon’s Breath-Fireball-Scorch…

Got both my paladin and my mage to 81. My paladin was so well-geared to begin with that the only drop/quest reward she’s equipped so far has been a trinket that beat Mirror of Truth. I’ve put several pieces of new gear on the mage, though. I’m finding GearScore’s rankings kind of puzzling, though. It would appear that, as far as GS is concerned, purple beats green simply by virtue of being purple. I’ve actually replaced a couple pieces of T10 with quest greens, and watched my GS drop with each replacement even when the new pieces are superior in every way, even taking gems and set bonuses into account.

Yes the Alliance get a cut scene showing Thrall at the Maelstrom.

Rolled a Worgen rogue and took him to level 12 last night, the story is very well executed. It was a bit annoying to ding during a phased event nowhere near a trainer to pick up new abilities but that’s a minor quibble. The music was awesome while the accents were pretty terrible but I expect only us Brits will consider that a problem.

Ooh! Ooh! I know the answer! waves hand

“Lor’themar!”

“Who?”

BTW Kushiel, there was a pretty decent WoW fanfic out there about Lor’themar’s difficulties serving as Regent if you’re interested. I thought it filled in the cardboard cutout pretty well.

jayjay, I’m pretty unfamiliar with Alliance politics, so if you could bullet point for a Hordie, that would be super. From what I’ve seen, it seems like SW, Darn, and Gilneas are dealing with the fallout of the Shattering + Sylvanas getting a bug in her bonnet. I still haven’t played through Hillsbrad as a new Forsaken, so I don’t know what the story there is re the bug-in-bonnet.

Re: the new hunter walkthrough – it drove me nuts when I rolled a baby worgen hunter. Argh. It’s really nice for people who’ve never played a hunter before, but for someone whose main is a hunter, it’s an itch you can’t scratch. “AIEEE MOB COOTIES! AIEE I AM BLEEDING!”

You can do this via the Armory Auction house webpage for your character (log on here World of Warcraft) or using the Mobile Armory App for the iPhone or Android though not in game as far as I know.

Yeah, happened to me too(and when the Burning Crusade was released), they adjust the respawn rate to the number of people in the zone, so with the amount of people leveling right now, the respawns are pretty short.

Oh, come on, have you ever met a real Gilnean? If you haven’t, how do you know that the worgens aren’t using a proper Gilnean accent ?

Anyway, me and my guildies have started doing a heroics now, only done three so far, Lost City of the Tol’vir, The Vortex Pinnacle and Blackrock Caverns. The trash isn’t very hard, but some of the bosses are pretty nasty, most of them have something new added on top of the abilities they have on normal and they have a lot of hp(or our dps is just very low right now) so it feels like it takes forever to kill them. All in all, a whole lot of fun.

Oh for sure could be real however it’s almost a comedy accent at times, think that American fella chimney sweep in Mary Poppins. Though it is the female voices more than the male that grate.

Alliance problems include Varian Wrynn (which is a previously known problem), Gnomeregan, while nominally under Mekkatorque’s control, isn’t exactly SAFE or even under his actual control, there’s all kinds of shenanigans going on in Darnassus with Staghelm’s disappearance and Malfurion showing up, the worgen are hardly a non-problem (they appear to have the same general relationship to the rest of the Alliance as the Forsaken have to the Horde), and there’s been a bit of a Dark Iron coup in Ironforge.

I’m surprised how quick getting to 85 is. I know it’s only 5 levels, but I’d had the impression they were putting in just as much high-level content as in Northrend and Outland. Go figure.

I was with ya until 84. It seems to be taking as long to go from 84 to 85 as it did to go from 80 to 84 - although that’s probably just me getting antsy to join the heroics/raiders.

Guild got down the boss in Baradin Hold last night! Not sure if it was realm first (no achievement for that), but most likely was. Sounded like an interesting fight, certainly harder than Archavon. I think they’re planning on doing some more raiding today. I’m just trying to hit 85 and get somewhat geared by next week’s runs.

I ran Halls of Origination last night - extremely solid concept in that one, IMO. Interesting trash, somewhat tricky bosses, and Brann - two thumbs up. Looking forward to it on heroic, where some of the boss mechanics will likely be pretty brutal.

I definitely had the impression that they’d skimped on the high-level questing somewhat to (1) re-work the old world and (2) get more raiding stuff in place immediately.

Would be nice to try it, too bad whoever designed Tol’Barad was an idiot. It is quite literally impossible for the attacker to win. You need to capture all three nodes(eots style capping) at the same time to win, so all the defender has to do is zerg one node and they win. Horde’s held the place since the release.

Hijack: In an interview on NPR’s show “Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me,” Dick van Dyke blames the Irish accent coach who was assigned to him for the abominable result.

Ha, great name!

The problem I’m having is that all the plate that drops is dps (or occasionally tanking) gear – I have yet so see any spellcaster plate anywhere. I would just start wearing the dps gear to quest in, but that’s an awful big hit to my mana pool. I’d probably have to go all the way and get a Ret spec, and then reforge a bunch of the new gear to bring my Hit up to an acceptable level.

I’d like to start queing for dungeons (especially with guildies) - is there a way to “discover” the dungeons before getting to them in the course of questing? I’m about halfway through Vash and have not found ToT yet – can I just go there? Can I just fly down to Blackrock Mtn to find the other one?

That’s a good point. The Horde’s issues are like that mobile home park down the road with the drunk dudes in wife-beaters, the drunk wives screaming at the drunk dudes, and the obnoxious kids shooting up street signs and shoplifting liquor. Absolutely obvious, even miles away. Whereas the Alliance is like one of those “perfect” families where they’re just one sharp argument away from a divorce, or worse. The seeds of their own civil war (?) are planted.

Maybe they’re trying to setup Warcraft 4. That’d be sweet.
