So far, from Hyjal, I’ve only replaced a couple pieces of 245 gear, plus my helm (which I’m not sure was the right move, given that I thereby lost my meta slot) for a blue long-line quest reward. Oh, and my two-handed weapon; so far the stam is still a bit less than I’m already getting from my gemmed-up tank 251s and 264s.
I’ve replaced my weapon and neck (I love that they got rid of weapon skills, yay for being able to pick up an axe for the first time and being able to use it!), but like I said no spell plate yet :-(.
That wasn’t intended as hyperbole. The only time I’ve had any problem clicking on an NPC that wasn’t being deliberately blocked by a large mount, ever, was just before Cata launch, when there were literally dozens or possibly even over a hundred PCs on top of the new flight trainer in SW (IIRC to defend it from a Horde attack). And you know what? I was still able to interact with the NPC after only a couple of seconds, without using a target macro combined with an “interact” keybind.
So if I, in that clusterfuck, can still manage to reach an NPC (as it appears that you were also able to do), surely you won’t be surprised if I make this face :dubious: about someone who claims to be blocked from a questgiver–who has extra interaction space due to their ? or !–by a handful of people on flyers.
Someone running at you or through you really isn’t a negative thing to do. It’s possible that it wasn’t even about you–sometimes while waiting for boats, I’ll run around or fly around, and I’m sure that sometimes I run through other people without even noticing it. Spamming duel invites would be rude, though.
Yeah, I see this happen, too–when I’ve been out questing, each NPC usually has at least a handful of people sitting near or on top of it. I just turn my nameplates off for a second so I don’t accidentally attack a Horde player and get on with my questing. It hasn’t caused me any problems with being able to interact with NPCs.
The mounts are cool. Of course we’re going to use them. What, I should get a lucky drop or a reward for hard work at meta achievements and then never use it? I shouldn’t ever put on any of my titles, either? I’ll admit it–when I got my Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher, you bet your ass I hovered in front of the bank with some of the friends who’d just gotten theirs, too. It’s an achievement and I have a right to be proud of it.
Because you don’t just vent. You turn it into a critique of the playstyle. If all you said was, “Man, it really bugs me when people don’t dismount before talking to NPCs,” I’d probably just let it pass. But what you *did *was make a massive blanket *ad hom *against everybody who doesn’t dismount. Which includes me, and a lot of other people in this thread. Which, of course, I’m not going to react kindly to.
I mean, how would you react if *I *said something like, “Everybody who isn’t a hardcore raider is just too stupid to learn basic mechanics and they should stop playing the game”?
Which patch? I’ve had no problems doing it–I just get a confirmation box when I hit Esc now.
AFAIK, there’s no way to “extend” existing auctions. It sounds like the big PITA for you is the mail. I’d suggest picking up an addon called Postal. It adds a button to your mailbox that will open all attachments on your mail, including mail from the Auction House. (You can customize it to open or ignore AH win mails, AH canceled auction mails, AH expired auction mails, and non-AH mails.) It makes life sooooo much easier.
I have no idea what you’re talking about. Pip pip cheerio crisps lorry guv’nah!
Hah! I’ve been seeing a lot of “Pally trash,” at least as quest rewards.
BRC you can discover just by running up to the entrance. ToT I assume is the same, though I was summoned to the entrance by friends. Vortex Pinnacle you can fly to at any level (it’s in the air off the southern coast of Uldum, kind of like the Tempest Keep instances in Netherstorm). Stonecore, unfortunately, I think you have to be 82 to discover, since AFAIK the only way to get to Deepholme is to port there from SW. (Possibly party members could summon you to the instance–I haven’t tried.)
Cool, it sounds like I only need to look at a map to figure out where they are and go there.
There I go again, forgetting to make my post!
New info of note: If you’re questing in a group, and one of you picks up an item that starts a quest, **share the quest with your party **after you accept it. It will give them the quest and create a copy of the item in their bags. When I was questing in VJ last night, I figured this out accidentally, and I was able to share every single drop quest with my friend (except for the one from the head on the elite giant dude, but he was in range when I killed him and was able to loot the head himself).
Pushed a bit into 83 last night, as well as Honored with Hyjal. Was annoyed to discover that you can’t even buy the rep rewards until you reach the right character level, so I had to haul my ass back to get them instead of picking them up at 82 and carrying them around. Oh well–I eventually got the tanking neck and DPS ring, even if I had to go back for them. I’m working on Earthen Ring, now, since they’ll be my Arcanum. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that only the quests from actual ER NPCs in VJ were giving rep, so I “wasted” a lot of time on other quests there instead of pushing hard rep-related quests.
Did a tiny bit of Archaeology at the end of the night. It makes a nice way to wind down, so I think I’m going to do that. On the agenda for this evening: profession leveling. I really need to get crackin’ on those so that I can take advantage of the crafted items (e.g., the Alchemy trinket). I’ll probably spend some time farming on the DK and then buy the rest of what I need–I’ve already picked up a few thousand more gold since the xpac launched, bringing me up to probably about 25k, so I won’t be hurting there if I need to blow a wad on mats.
Nice, thank you ![]()
SFG, did you mean “mail opener”, because there isn’t an add-on that is just “mail”.
Thanks
Q
My copy still hasn’t turned up, so no Cata for me this weekend. Looks like I’ll only get a chance to dip my toe in before Christmas, and I’ll be doing my levelling in the new year.
Wow. THAT would have changed the Broken Hilt dynamics COMPLETELY.
I just tamed a beetle and called him Ringo. I am endlessly amused by this.
Ah fuck. It’s POSTAL, Quasi, you idjit.
Sorry,** SFG**
Gonna pick up Archaeology for Usumbij. Already made him a skinner and blacksmith.
Q
PS: levelled him to 8 last night. It sure helps to have done this with Wolkie and makes things run a lot quicker.
On the gear upgrade thing, i think by the time i got to 83 i had only replaced one or two items (as a druid tank). But now a little into 84, the only thing left from level 80 is my trinkets.
I really enjoyed Hyjal & Deepholm, and now i’m working my way through Uldum and that zone is really cool too. Maybe i’m easy to please, but i am currently loving just about everything about this expansion.
I also have the feeling that leveling was happening too fast… just want to take in all the zones. but i guess getting to the level cap won’t really stop that.
The only thing i’m down on, is that i’m pretty indifferent towards archaeolgy. I did a couple digs and i’ve gotta say it’s lost my interest lol. does it get better?
Ran vortex pinnacle last night - pretty cool, but worried about what heroic will be like lol.
I equipped a couple of pieces of gear that gave me more AGI for my hunter and my Gearscore went down around 2000 points, so I think I’m going to go back and equip the previous gear. ![]()
That’s the one with the crazy glowing orbs of doom, right? Wiped a few times on those… can’t imagine what the AOE damage is gonna look like on heroic…
Are you sure you want him to be a skinner and a blacksmith? The gathering skill that synergies with blacksmith is mining…you use the metals you mine to make stuff with BS. Skinning won’t help you with BS at all. And with the new ability to track more than one thing at a time, you can be a hunter with a gathering skill that tracks (like mining or herbalism) now.
yeah, seeing them the first time is the best, i think my thought process went something like:
“hey i wonder what all those glowing things are… are they moving towards us?.. wait, i think they’re shooting at us… ZOMGWTFBBQ”
my group didn’t wipe, but we sure tried!
Quasi, I agree with jayjay. If you want to try a crafting profession, I’d recommend leatherworking. The raw materials for it are provided by your skinning, and as a hunter you wear leather (before level 40) and mail (after level 40), both of which are made by leatherworking.
Alternatively, you could pick another gathering profession like herbalism (flowers can brighten your day) or mining (back to the slave pits).
The best match for any crafting profession is whatever activity provides the highest gold per hour. It might be mining, skinning, farming golden pearls, running dailies, going to your real job and buying gold. Whatever. Picking a gathering profession because it supplies materials ignores the realities of how the WoW economy functions.
The reason not to take skinning on a hunter is that running up to a mob and skinning it kills your XP/hour. If you don’t care about hitting 85 ASAP, that doesn’t matter.
Am I just projecting every time I read a post by you and hear you thinking as you typed it, “What a bunch of stupid newbs! Don’t they know anything about the Right Way To Play WoW (i.e., My Way To Play WoW)?”, or am I really picking up an awful lot of disdain?
