Yeah, but it evens out because taxis take the most idiotic routes from A to B.
Finally did the jousting quest everyone was talking about, daaaaamn that was hard. But I found it rather fun for a WoW minigame.

Heck, even one of the male draenei /silly emotes makes a reference to “little tiny horsies”
Indeed. I was doing some archaeology on my paladin, and discovered that 310% flight speed + Crusader Aura + more or less straight line made the trip from SW to Redridge stupidly short — less than a minute, I believe.
Has anybody else explored that big ocean-filled chasm that used to appear as dry land between Elwynn and Dun Morogh? It’s the area where Deathwing was originally announced to be busting out from, though that was changed later, but it still looks like he must have been responsible for the, um, “excavation” there, as the cliff faces appear to be charred black. I spent some time underwater trying to see if I could locate the Deeprun Tram, but had no luck. Also, the “fatigue” zones are really weird through there. You can travel in a straight line through the chasm, and your fatigue bar appears, disappears, appears, disappears…
I use the flightmasters when I want to hop on and go afk; otherwise flying yourself takes much less time. I swear the flightmasters get paid by the mile. :dubious:
Edit: Oh, and I don’t even have fast flight, just…regular flight. And it’s STILL faster.
BWAH-HA-HA-HA! Vindication!
From WoW Insider:
Interact with target keybind gets you past players atop NPCs
And it goes on to explain and point out the “Interact with target” keybind that is actually in the game. I was getting the impression from the comments here that this was something I needed to write a macro for.
Okay, got to level 20 last night and got my “Hawkstrider” (in blue). It pained me to see Usumbij riding that thing until Keyne told me to jump it and that looks a little better, so thanks for that.
I hope that at some point, Blizz provides a less-silly looking mount for the Belves, because I can just see Alliance laughing their asses off as I approach.
Luckily though, BDL recently scored the “Mount Up” perk which lets us go 10% faster than normal.
Thanks
Q
Nope it seems it is a bug as I raised a ticket and got a (very late) reply to say it’s a known issue and will be fixed in the future. Going to see Lord Romano resolved it as he gives out the quest.
Dinged 82 and I still have quests in Mount Hyjal to do and I’m enjoying the story too much to move on yet. I really should as I need to mine the next level of ore really. Though mining going very well tailoring is a nightmare, Embersilk drop rates are ridiculously low and priced as such on the AH, only using cloth gathered I gained a grand total of 6 points in tailoring.
Yeah, there seems to be a viciously low number of humanoids to kill in Hyjal and Vashj’ir. Most of the humanoids in Vashj’ir are naga, but the majority of naga killing happens in “visions” or scripted fight sequences where you don’t get to loot anything.
Am I supposed to stay in Undercity and do quests now? I have a few left to do upstairs in Eversong, a couple of them group ones.
Also I found the fm in Undercity, but no fp to Eversong, right?
Q
Seeing as I never played the prior Warcrafts and just ran through Outlands…do we ever see Kael’thas on a war chicken? giggles
Also, I’m going to pick up one of Tortolla’s children and run. They are so bloody adorable!
You can go back to Eversong if you want to finish it up, but by now you probably want to move on to a higher-level zone. That could be Ghostlands (which is just south of Eversong) or Silverpine Forest (which is south of Tirisfal Glades where Undercity is). You might like Silverpine better, since it was totally revamped for Cataclysm.
And you’re right, there is no direct flight from Undercity to Eversong unless it has changed recently. You’d have to pick up some of the FPs in between. But that doesn’t matter, it’s much faster to take the translocation orb between the cities now that you know where it is.
I dunno about “on” a war chicken, but he does have one.
You’re level 20, right? In general, you want to move to a zone that has quests and monsters about your level. Zones tend to have similar level ranges (10-20 is common, so is 20-25), occasionally there are breadcrumb quests that will lead you to a zone in the next tier, often not.
Another way to find an appropriate zone is to check out wowhead’s zone page (sorted by level range). There are a few 20-25 zones:
Ashenvale (forest region in Kalimdor, north of the Barrens)
Duskwood (forest region in Eastern kingdoms, I think you’re pretty familiar with this from your warrior. I don’t think there’s much for Horde to do here)
Hillsbrad foothills (plains and villages in Eastern kingdoms - I haven’t seen the revamp since Cataclysm, but it’s a mostly Horde area now)
I’d recommend going through Silverpine Forest to reach Hillsbrad for more questing.
Woohoo! Hit 85 on Makig last night. My apologies to guild members for not responding to the much appreciated grats (isn’t that a southern breakfast food?), but I dinged right at the wire for my play time.
Now I need to work out a priority queue for the many things I’m looking forward to doing:
How many 85s does the BDL have now? We’ll be 10-manning in no time ;).
I went back to my 74 pally a little last night and practiced tanking (RDF put us in Nexus again), then got back on my “main” pally and healed Throne of Tides with Rahuul and Cornballah from the guild. I hate those guys who throw you in the air and then pound you, but otherwise that’s a fund and very pretty dungeon. I also discovered Blackrock Cavern and… Stonecore? so looking forward to doing those. Also everything in ToT was dropping for me, I got the holy pally shoulders and chest and a decent caster ring (it had +hit which I don’t need, but I was able to reforge a lot of it to +haste instead).
Muz is poking along at 83 :(. I tanked ToT (with Bird) and Stonecore (again) last night, and have said goodbye to the last of my T10 gear. Also did the miniquest to open up Uldum (don’t know if it’s really necessary); should get a chance to look in there this weekend.
If you have Old World Flying, it’s not. Not to get there, anyway. You can just fly over the mountains. I didn’t try to quest yet, and I’m only 80 anyway (just got Cata on Tuesday), so I don’t know if it just wasn’t open to me or if they weren’t showing because I’m too low.
Queued for a couple random heroics last night. First, I got Lost City. It was fun and was going really well. We had a mage & shammy so we poly’d & hexed on nearly every pull. Hit a snag when we got to the phoenix boss, i think the main problem was lackluster dps. They were all doing about 6.5K with me doing 6K as the tank, we just couldn’t get out of the shadow phase fast enough, so that by the time we did everyone was too low on health. Everyone dropped group after 4-5 wipes.
Then I queued again and got Shadowfang Keep, but with only three bosses left. I thought the next to last boss was really fun!! it just felt and looked like the room was filled with utter chaos haha.
I’m also pretty excited that my guild dinged last night so we get the Mr. Popularity perk for increased reputation gain.
That, coupled with the fact that I’m willing to queue for heroics now, should make all these rep grinds much less painless!
Quasi, one thing you can do is check out the “bulletin boards” posted in most major cities and some outposts; I think the quests you get from them start with “Warchief’s Command.” They’re intended to be pointers to check out level-appropriate
areas for more quests. Feel free to move on if they’re not quite to your liking.
And for my “duh!” moment of last night - my lvl 84 priest just has the Uldum and Twilight Highlands quests to go, but I decided to pause to grind more on Archaeology. (I hit 225 this morning.) Last night I ran into an Alliance PC who had the title “Assistant Professor” and I asked my guild how you got that. Someone answered that it was from Archaeology, so I pulled up the Achievements page and checked out Professions - oh, there’s an Archaeology category now. I scroll down the list… I have that achievement. :smack: I’d accomplished a rare artifact recently, the fossilized hatchling mini-pet, and was so pleased about that achievement (called “I Had It in My Hand,” I think) that I’d completely missed there was a title!
That guy really is a bitch on heroic, no?
It is amazing to me how much better a group goes with two reliable CC’ers (mage and shaman being basically the best you could hope for - although a hunter that knows how to use freezing trap or a good rogue are solid as well). Get a group with DK, Warrior, Cat or something like that and you can be pretty much screwed.
I was pretty excited about getting close to Guild Level 5 (the money one), till I realized what a tiny amount of gold it really ends up being. The XP and Rep ones are excellent though, as is the mount speed (frees up a talent point, since it doesn’t stack with On a Pale Horse, right?).
