Why the HECK did the devs make Chaos Orbs BoP? I have all the mats necessary to have a LW make Chestguard of Nature’s Fury and a ton of gold extra for the tip, but nooooooo, I can’t get a LW on Cairne to make it for me because they don’t have any chaos orbs…which only drop in heroics…and are friggin’ BoP! nerdrage
I gonna punch that dragon in the face!
Heh heh - I just stumbled across this little quest chain today. What fun! I think the best part of the whole thing was mousing over Deathwing and seeing in the tooltip, “NPCs GearScore: 314910”
The healer has been vegetating these last few weeks, but I was doing fine healing on raids with them pre-expansion. I did use a very light setup of Grid, though.
We keep having to comfort our GM (She Who Loves Gnomes) re. the 1000-gnomes quest: those of us who are Nice, Damnit tell her to remember they’re cursed, people are putting them out of their misery; those who are not go mwahahahaha and tell her to racechange.
But what I liked best about Uldum was just the movie at the beginning, I thought it was neat (although not as neat as the one at the cathedral in Gilneas, with that poster-worthy shot of the worgen on the spire).
I was in my first heroic yesterday, guildrun. We didn’t finish (we got the “egyptian tomb” one and three of us hadn’t even been there in normal) but it was fun. Our first raid is scheduled for Jan 6, when I can’t be in, but hey, that saves me a few facerolls
the way I use @mouseover is in macros that bind my healing spells to my mouse buttons + modifier keys, then I can have the mob/boss as my target (to see when he is casting or how much health he has) while healing by pointing my mouse cursor over the raidframe of the person I want to heal and hitting the button/keys. That saves me from having to left-click the raid frame to target the person then click again to cast my spell - I just click to cast on whoever needs the heal.
Also - ding 85 on my pally! Ran a few regular 5-mans tonight but askeered to try heroics yet until I can get a couple guildies to go with me. I also re-specced out of my holy-damage build to a holy-healing build – unfortunately it now takes most of my mana bar to kill anything
Also worked on my spriest in Hyjal a bit and holy cow does leveling go faster when you have a dps spec. Got half way to 82 in almost no time, it seemed.
Yes it eliminates the need to click the mouse instead you click a button. For example this macro:
#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help]Holy Shock
is bound to my ‘R’ key on my Holy Pally. While I’m out questing I can use it as an offensive\defensive spell as usual just press the ‘R’ button to cast. When healing a dungeon or a BG however if I have my mouse over a player directly or, and this is more often, over that player’s raid frame it will cast Holy Shock on that player when I press ‘R’. The added bonus - you do not have to target that player and it does not switch your target after the cast. So for a Boss fight I will have the Boss targeted for judging and occasional dps (OK Hammer of Wrath…) while my mouse flicks over the raid frames healing by hitting keyboard keys.
Grats! I have two Holy Specs; one for questing\dailies with the damage talents and one for healing. Though I am seriously considering going back to Prot for levelling as killing mobs is sooooo slow as Holy after doing a couple of levels on my warlock.
Any other ret paladins getting a little … bored … with the new paladin abilities? Particularly now that Divine Storm shares a CD with Crusader Strike, I’m really starting to feel like that “push one button” class some people have accused us ret pallies of being in the past. I cast my Judgement on my target, and then basically just hit Crusader Strike every time it’s available. It feels like my damage output depends entirely on waiting for Art of War and Hand of Light to proc. Aside from that, it’s just “CS -> CS -> CS -> TV -> Repeat”. At least before I could mix in Divine Storm when it was off cooldown, but now that it’s on the same CD as Crusader Strike, and isn’t guaranteed to generate a charge of Holy Power, using it is a net DPS loss.
Like I said, it seems that I really really really need to get plenty of Art of War and Hand of Light procs in order to put out decent damage. But those are so random it’s ridiculous. I can attack one mob and these things will proc over and over in rapid succession and that mob goes down in about 3 seconds; then I attack the next, identical, mob and nothing procs at all so it’s just CS -> CS -> CS -> TV -> Repeat and it takes 20 seconds to kill it.
Unless I’m just Doing It Wrong.
Got my Fossilized Raptor mount! Also, I just did the Katamari gnome-obliterating quest in Uldum, and that was a damned near religious experience.
Lag is awesome, let me tell you.
So I’ve been experiencing random 5 second lag spikes since 4.0 dropped, which was annoying but chalked it up to blizzard still getting things ready for Cata, but it didn’t get any better when Cata dropped. In fact it got worse, to the point where I was scared to tank an instance, or even heal. It’s a little frustrating since I was the tank/swing heal/DPS for our raid group. So I update all my drivers, get a new PCI card and update those drivers, follow Blizzards advice and delete my WTF, Cache, and Interface folders. Nothing helps.
Wednesday maintenance comes with a supposed fix to the lag issues. Well… no. It made mine worse. Now my ping rarely drops below 1k with spikes over 6k and the occasional disconnect. It’s also spread to my other online games, which makes it doubly frustrating.
I’ve posted in the Blizzard Tech Support forums, I’ve updated every driver I can think of, I’ve run several virus scans, malware scans, and spyware scans which all come up clean. I just got off the phone with my ISP and they’re as confused as I am, but they told me to keep an eye on it and to call them back if it doesn’t improve or gets worse.
I’m frustrated, I can’t play WoW… okay well I can but it’s not as fun when I can’t join my friends in instances or raids for fear of lagging in the fire.
At least I was able to finish questing my way to Exalted with the Guardians of Hyjal… yay.
Sad panda. Merry Winter Veil.
I swear, if Liam Greymane doesn’t put his shirt back on at some point, I’m never going to be able to finish these worgen starting quests… fans self
I couldn’t wait to get out of the worgen starting zone. If I had to hear “Get gabbin’ or get goin’!” one more time…
My favorite worgen NPC was the one in Vashj’ir who speaks in rhyming slang
Christmas Eve randomness:
So last night I was questing in Uldum on my mage, and I was killing Riverbed Crocolisks. I finished off the crocolisk, looted it, and then noticed I was still “in combat” and that, apparently, something was attacking me but being rather ineffective, judging by the “Miss” text and occasional “-1” that kept floating up the screen. But I couldn’t see what it was. I looked all around me, I looked up, and couldn’t find what was attacking me. So I shrugged and walked away from the crocolisk corpse…
… and out from under the corpse hopped a Mac Frog. An angry Mac Frog.
Somehow or other, one of my spells had aggroed this little guy (I think it must have been Fire Blast) without killing him, and now I was being viciously attacked by a level 1, 42 hit point Critter.
Sadly, I had to kill him if I was ever going to get out of combat so that I could fly away
Boy, Therazane’s a real cutie, ain’t she?
Finally got Loremaster! All that work for an ugly tabard…
I have a reindeer, I have a reindeer…*
Is it silly that I rolled a new alt strictly for the bank space all those snowballs is going to take up?
I got a reindeer, I got a reindeer… I wonder if it flies with me when I’m flying on my reindeer mount?!
I can’t stop channelling Eddie Murphy* >.<
** “…and you ain’t got one, 'cause you on welfare…”
My rogue is happy because she got 85 this morning (yay) but sad because one of the skills which doesn’t need to be skilled up any more is Lockpicking, which used to separate the rogues from the “wannabe warriors in leather”. Oh well.
My main can go into heroics… now I have to work up the nerve to start pugging them… will this hurt? C’mon I can do it… Got Exalted with Therazane, getting exalted with Hyjal today (which I don’t really need, but what the heck, I just grabbed the first tabard I could rather than minmax it), think it’s the Egyptian kitties next (that head enchant will look good on my engineered helmet, once I can get hold of a Chaos Orb). I’ve got Plans, but they’re not very organized.
Those are two macros I created for you. They’re two separate things.
**Intrpt **is your interrupt macro. It will either Shield Bash or Pummel depending on what stance you’re in and what you have equipped.
**CD **is your major cooldown macro. It will use Shield Wall in Defensive Stance, Retaliation in Battle Stance, and Recklessness in Berserker Stance.
These two macros are not linked in any way. You would need to drag them onto your bars and then either click them or type the key they’re on to make them work.
Are you sure he was helping you? Maybe you were fighting enemies he’d tagged. Maybe he was just trying to clear the way so that he could do the same quests. Really, after you’ve said, “Thanks, but I don’t need any help,” there’s really not much you can do to control what anybody else does. And if he was just doing your own thing and all you said to him was, “Please stop,” he would be confused and think that you were asking him to stop questing on his own, which would pretty sensibly make him angry.
Pretty much. Obviously you’re still pressing whatever key or button is bound to the macro, but you don’t have to target the player you want to cast the ability on.
I’m sure you’ve tried this already, but since you didn’t mention it specifically…
Have you tried disabling every single addon and then playing for a while? There are reports of addons, even theoretically updated ones, causing massive FPS dips; it could be the case that they’d cause latency spikes, too. If that clears up the problem, you could then start adding them back a few at a time to see what’s specifically causing the lag.
Hahaha! I had that happen once with a cockroach. Funniest thing, with the little guy flying up at me and me dodging.
Yep. Deleted the Cache, WTF, and Interface folders and no dice. Since I’m also lagging hard in other games as well as timing out on regular websites it may be an issue with my ISP. Just got off the phone with them and they’ve escalated my ticket it to the next level and I should be getting a call within the next business day, so I’ll see where that goes.
The game is basically unplayable for me right now, at least I can work on my crafting professions and daily cooking/fishing quests.
But I really miss tanking and healing.
Oh yeah, if it’s cross-application, that’s definitely a problem with the connection (the line, the modem, the router, or the network card).
