I’d disable AV, then try it. If that doesn’t work, I’d run the WoW repair utility for an hour and then, if that doesn’t fix it, a memory test.

Heh, my troll DK is an herbalist/scribe. I tend to say stuff like, “I take da time to stop an’ eat da flowers, mon.”
Audio Video? I guess I’m being a little dense atm…
Anti-virus
Yeah, in case your anti-virus software is scanning stuff as it loads into memory and preventing WoW from accessing it when it needs to.
Anti-Virus, I’m thinking…
Happy New Year to everyone.
Hit 84 on the warlock not long after Deepholm so skipped Uldum for later and hit Twighlight Highlands. Half way to 85 and being very careful died a few times already from over enthusiastic pulls. My Pally nearly at 525 JC and starting to earn some decent money from cuts at last, still a few thousand gold down from where I started though so a serious effort to make money required soon.
Best bit of news from this week’s patch, must have heard our moaning:
Tailoring
Tailors with 400 skill or higher should now receive additional cloth drops 50% of the time from anything that drops cloth, up from 25%.
Awwww, martu!
Your 'lock and Pally will bounce back, I’m convinced of it!
I’ve got Wolkie in that place where you have to go up and up and up and up before you finally land? Confidence is high (as I may have mentioned in another post) and we’re not being killed (at present).
Double L (Wollkie, the bank alt) is levelling and he’s at 18 and lookin’ good. Can’t wait to get him on a mount, and he’s very happy about his “promotion”.
Clawdie (my female Worg hunter) is rockin’ as well, although she’s just right now a 5.
And Usumbij (Nelf hunter) is rockin’ too. (and gettin’ laffs about his name when people sound it out to themselves. People laffin’. It’s great!:))
Long story short - y’all have helped me soooo much that I have been able to actually retain your instructions and don’t go batshit every time I get mobbed anymore.
Thanks

Last night I had hoped to get my priest to 85, but first, I thought, I’d try a random heroic on my pally for the Valor points. Got put in Deadmines, but the first two bosses were already down so I thought it would be fairly quick.
Two hours later we’ve managed to get down Ripsnarl and Cookie. Just the trash pulls in the mine were crazy, then Ripsnarl was good for 5-6 wipes (usually getting him to about 2%). Cookie we one-shotted and we even got the achievement, but since 4/5 of us had never done Heroic before, we had no idea what to do when the last boss dream event started and gave up after we quickly wiped on that.
Spent the rest of my time leveling archealogy up to about 225 before going to bed.
Sorry, I screwed up names, levels and factions.
Clawdie is a level 4 Druid.
Usumbij is level 11 Nelf Hunter
Horaz and Double L are correct: Both 18 warriors.
There are some others in Alex, but I haven’t been working them as much.
Thanks

I’m not sure about DK’s to be honest. But i know for druids we just take whatever hit and expertise we happen to come by since threat does not seem to be an issue.
I believe all tanks want to reforge for avoidance these days (for example all my reforging as a druid is done to add dodge rating, or mastery if the piece already has dodge rating)
/cheer
Yay! Santa came early this year! Or late. :dubious:
Is that in today’s patch, or has it already been patched? Because I was questing in Twilight Highlands on Sunday and noticed that mobs were dropping a lot more cloth than they had in earlier zones. I don’t know if it’s because of the high level mobs, the patch, or I was just on a lucky streak.
Ok…I was downloading many updated drivers from the Dell site (about 13 of them) and I guess that did the trick. I got on last night, but now I have to fix all the ingame settings that I was accustomed to and also need to get updated addons as well. I should be on for a lengthier session tonight barring my wife’s need for a bed warmer.
That’s why we have a dog…
I think the tailor’s talent of finding extra cloth has gotten a double buff. I don’t think they did anything with the frequency of the drop.
On another note, have any healers noticed that in heroics that everyone seems to get knocked down to less than 50% quickly, and kind of sit there for the rest of the boss fight? It seems I can heal them full, but then 10 seconds later, they’re sitting at 30%. I find it annoying as I think everything is going great, then all of a sudden everyone is knocked down by a % of health instead of a straight damage number, but they seems to stop after like the 30% mark. My guild tank had 214k hp buffed and a pug group tank had like 160k, but they still just kind of sat around the same health amount.
It makes for some intense endings when I’m just about out of mana, and everyone has like 10% health right as the boss dies.
The only thing I can figure is that it is linked some how to the amount of mana I have; as I can somehow keep everyone alive and at about the same health pool with <20k mana for the last 10-20 seconds.
I almost thought about dropping healing for a Retribution version of my paladin, but I think I’m going to stick with it. I’m even hanging on to my +mastery items, hoping that they’ll change that to make it more useful for us. Now if there can just be a way to make heroics last less than 2 hours, it’ll be great. I really don’t mind that trash pulls are much more difficult, even more so than some bosses, I just don’t like that it takes so long to get through them. A challenge = fun for me. A 2 hour heroic does not.
If that’s the case, I think this falls under the heading of “ridiculous mechanics” that some of us have talked about. Somebody on the official forums mentioned a boss in one of the new heroics with a particular attack that instantly takes everybody down to 1 hit point. What, the big bad just couldn’t squeak out 1 more lousy point of damage? I mean, that’s just silly, to me anyway. It’s a mechanic for the sake of a mechanic.
That sounds like you have some less than stellar DPS players who like to stand in the fire/voidzones/goo, though it varies a lot with the different bosses. I’m a healer too, and sometimes I have half mana left and everybody at 100% health at the end, and sometimes half the people are dead, rest at 10% and I don’t have any mana when the boss finally hits the floor.
Just yesterday we did TotT which was kinda new heroic for most of us, and the first try on the second boss I ran out of mana when the boss was at roughly half hp, desperately trying to keep everybody alive with my big heals. Then we revised our tactics and on the second try I had over 40k mana left and everybody was near full hp when we got him down. SFK has gotten to the point where I don’t even need to drink during the whole run, assuming we skip Springvale.
I find it when your group has gotten some gear and starts to know the fights and the trash, the heroics are going faster. HoO and DM are kinda long no matter what, though.
I found the idea silly too, but the actual fight isn’t too aggravating and I found the healing challenge it presented me interesting. It’s also one of those rare fights where multiple melee dps are actually benefical.
He’s not even the first boss to do so – Prince Malchazaar(sp?) back in Karazhan did the same, first reducing half the raid to 1 hp and then doing a medium range AE shortly afterwards.
