4.5k is REALLY bad. I’m not even a well-geared tank, and on boss fights where I don’t have to move / deal with mechanics, I top 7k.
But… but.. they were closed when I got there! I didn’t close them!
Are we talking about the same doors? I fought Lord Incendius on a skinny stone bridge with The Black (Dark?) Anvil in the middle, and then continued on in the same direction and there were the closed doors. I can’t think of any actions of mine that would have closed the doors - I didn’t touch anything, I just killed the mobs I came across.
If it makes any difference, I used my Direbrew’s Remote to start at the Grim Guzzler; I didn’t start at the instance entrance. And actually, to tell the truth, I have no idea how to get to the Grim Guzzler without using the Remote. EDIT: Though with the new and improved maps I probably could find my way there. Past attempts at starting at the main entrance always ended in me getting completely lost and disoriented (i.e. every passage I took just seemed to circle around right back to where I started, or ended in a locked door and no indication where to get a key).
The way BRD is set up now (which I just discovered last night on my Classic Dungeon Master run), there aren’t any locked doors in the beginning like there used to be. Once you go up into the barracks to assassinate the general, you can keep going out of that building and right into the Guzzler. It’s the next stop on the outer circle, and there’s another questgiver there.
I noticed that they basically took most of the scattered questgivers for most of the classic dungeons and actually put them IN the instance (having done Scholomance, Stratholme, BRD, LBRS and UBRS all this weekend (solo…I’m 85)).
This may be it, normally, in order to get to the Grim Guzzler you have to close those doors, so it’s possible that when you enter with Direbrew’s Remote that they start out closed, enter through the instance portal and they will be open.
I noticed this when I ran WC yesterday - all the quests were inside the entrance portal. Nice!
They also apparently removed the dwarf king’s ghost quest for BRD…I went to all the trouble of flying to the ceiling over the central rock and dismissing my mount to die just so I could run in and talk to him to get that quest and…pfffft. Not there. Never saw him inside, either.
ETA: I’m wrong. He was there, but he didn’t have a quest to give me. No quest mark over his head.
There are some class quests you have to pick up from the trainer or wherever, but yeah, all of the “go to instance x and do y” quests have been moved from the cities to inside the instances.
Thanks jayjay and Mogle!
In other news, my 84 mage apparently finished Uldum last night. Are the 3-4 quests leading up to Gnomebliteration really the entirety of the quest chain involving those gnomes?
My paladin did the quests in SW with Prince Anduin a few days ago, and since Anduin had a horse I decided to break out my Argent Squire and have a bit of fun:

It took quite a bit of shuffling and dancing around to get everybody lined up like that.
I’ve done LBRS at least four times and I STILL get lost in there…I can never seem to remember how to get from the lower level of the troll area to the “outside” of that area so I can get to the spiders.
Boy, Anduin got the Humvee horse, didn’t he?
1.) Manually check to see that your drivers (especially video card) are updated. Don’t do this through Window’s Update–update manually from the manufacturer’s site.
2.) Make a copy of something like UBCD and run some of the tests. Running memtest overnight could be helpful, for example.
3.) If the BSODs start happening more frequently (or with every boot), try running from Safe Mode and see if that lets you get in. Unfortunately it’s harder to diagnose problems this way if the crashes are intermittant.
Holy shit, yeah, that’s completely unacceptable. *Absolute basement *numbers for DPS in a Heroic would be about 5k, and even that would be really low. For comparison, my Fury offspec gear isn’t even enchanted, and I’m still running at just under 10k DPS in five-mans, and that’s on moving fights. I’m also low on Hit and Crit–if I switched to Arms, I suspect that my numbers would be higher.
Are those the doors that you close in the room with the big wheel? I think they are. You go up there and kill the guys and click the thing, and that opens up the passage, but it also closes the doors. Or something like that. I don’t know, the place is such a fucking maze that I can’t keep anything straight. If I were physically in there I could probably sort it out, but from here…
Phew! Hopefully all of the changes to your characters will be beneficial ones.
1.) WoW is a game. The entire point is that it’s fun. If it’s not fun anymore, there should be no reason to feel like you have to keep playing it. Even stepping away from the part of the game that isn’t fun anymore can be helpful.
2.) The only time I’ll nerdrage on people in randoms is when (a) they claim to know the fights and then clearly don’t or (b) are so ignorant of their basic class mechanics and/or terrible at playing that they have literally no place in a Heroic group. So as long as you make sure that you wait to queue for Heroics until you’re comfortable playing your class and spec, as well as having enough gear to push out the necessary numbers, and then be sure to tell your group what fights you don’t know, you shouldn’t have any problems with people who aren’t assholes that you’re better off avoiding, anyway.
Jeeze, I’ll bet!
What rep level do you need to be with your guild to get the various rewards? My chars are still, I think, just at Friendly. We hit 10th level this weekend, and got the Alliance Killer achievement as well, so I think we should at least have the Guild Page and heirloom cloaks, and maybe something else?
Easiest thing is to just walk to the Guild rewards vendor in Orgrimmar and see what you can buy.
There’s nothing that I can see on the vendor, though.
I didn’t see anyone answer this, so I’ll take a stab at it.
It’s probably easier to state what we have covered: paladin, priest, druid for sure.
We have an 85 rogue in the guild, but not one that raids. I don’t think we have an 85 shaman – so both of those are holes. But really any class is welcome, whatever you would enjoy.
In terms of roles, we still struggle to fill a 10-man raid, so any role (tank/heals/dps) is welcome. It’s probably hardest for us to get two tanks for raiding so that might be the main need, but we don’t have an overabundance in any role. Whatever you like.
In terms of professions, I think we have all the crafting skills covered although I’m not 100% sure about engineering or alchemy. But again, whatever you want; we’re not picky.
Actually, the *easiest *thing to do is to hit J to pop up your Guild interface and look at the Rewards tab (or a similar title). That will show you every single reward, how to unlock it, and what guild reputation you need to purchase it.
And the quickest answer is that most of the early awards require Honored guild reputation.
Well tell him to get off his lazy butt and help out his guild, I mean what kind of…oh…wait…that’s me. ![]()
I’d love to try raiding, the BDL raid time is just too late, but I think I am going to try some pugs so at least if I do try raiding with you guys I won’t be a complete anchor. I am scared of pugs though. Anybody who has raided with me on the few times I have come along can attest that there is a lot of “Lar, get out of the goo” “Lar, when the guy throws the spear the size of a redwood at you, move” “Wait, is Lar dead again?” going on.
I am trying to work on things like using my interrupts and CC and other fundamentals in everyday questing to get ready. Oh oh! And I actually mapped some stuff to my mouse now! AND I changed from the default UI to a whole different one the other day. I feel so grown up now. So once I remember that being a noob in a raid isn’t that bad, I will probably try some out. What’s the worst they can do? Kick you? Slander your name across Trade? Organize the entire Alliance to gang up on only you in BGs?
Update:
Trashed AVG and looked at SpyDoctor, realized that I needed to make a purchase…passed on that and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials. Found a regcure trojan and 5 similar strains of another trojan…a second run later in the day picked another one. The soundbite popups stopped (temporarily) until I heard one again this morning before I left for work. The Tazinga virus seemed to stop as well although I have not done a search on Google since yesterday.
Got a hold of Blizzard Technical Support yesterday and spent an hour with a rep named Sean, nice guy, very patient.
We tried several times to log on with and without me using the authenticator…still got #132 error. With that we ruled out (99%) that there was a keylogger involved.
Checked all the driver updates (nVidia). Told him about the 9800GT concern (that Palooka brought up). It didn’t seem to bother him at that point in time…still got #132.
DxDiag…#132
MsConfig set only to opening windows related processes… still got #132.
Download a memory test using memtest86.com recommended by Sean. At that point in time, he was going to send me an email to tell me what to do next (although I haven’t received it yet), and we said our goodbyes and let the computer run memtest overnight. This morning, it had done 22 total tests with a 100% passrate for each test. Will report that (through email file) when I do get the email from him.
Sean recommends running Malwarebytes as well rather than MSE. I will probably download that and run it alternately with MSE. We’ll see.
Got a lot of other stuff done yesterday instead, like taking down the christmas tree and lights, even washed my car since it was a mess going to that frozen tundra also known as the Grand Canyon back on New Year’s Eve…freaking -22 degrees at midnight. But that is another story.
And here I sit, no closer to solving the #132 error.
Hey no worries Lar, it’s nice to have someone around who can pick locks for us
Raid with us if you can and want to, but there’s no pressure. If you want to start doing some dungeons I’m sure there are a bunch of guildies who would go with you. I don’t see you online much though so I think our schedules are pretty dissimilar.
