Yah, a “g”. I wanted the “zomg it’s Rob Zombie” effect.
Beyond the name, I didn’t do much with him. I just couldn’t get the knack of leveling a mage.

Gotcha!
Re: levelling a mage.
I haven’t started playing Boyhowdy yet, so thanks for the heads up. I think I’ll hop on him tonight!

Looking at Wowhead, Muddied Water Elementals cast Water Bolt (which got mentioned) and Water Spout.
It has a 1-sec cast, so it’d be very easy to miss and even harder to interrupt. I suspect the best strategy is like you said: move. Don’t stand in the blue bubbly ground effect.
Geez. Something else to add to the list.
Well, one nice thing about the obscene scarcity of certain herbs in Cataclysm: my enchanter can sell the new healing potions for an equally obscene price. My herbalist sent my enchanter enough Twilight Jasmine to make 25 of those potions, and I posted the potions on the AH in 5 stacks of 5 at about 132g/stack, or over 26g/per
Heh…cool! Those tornadoes in Westfall really pick you up and throw you through the air.
The other part of that is that the only way to get healing potions now is to buy them from an alchemist; I never bought them before and relied on random drops of Runic healing potions, but if I was serious about tanking I’d now have to either buy them on the AH or level my alchemist.
Well we didn’t even make it past trash last night in BoT, but we did get in a guild heroic run which was pretty fun and got some upgrades for people. Though trinkets still refuse to drop for me.
From my large hunter stable I have:
-Black Bear “Grissholm”
-Ravager “Bebop”
-Cat (Black with white stripes) “Imriel”
-Hyena “Jackson”
-Dog (Green demon skin) “Carbon”
-Corehound “Adranos” (The Beast from BRS, let a friend name him)
-Gondria “Anteros”
-Wolf “Crispin”
-Devilsaur (Black) 'iROAR"
-King Krush “uROAR”
-Fox “Kaiser”
-Bird of Prey (Dark red) “Khonsu”
-Bird of Prey (Bright Green) “RaHorakhty”
-Seagull “Skipper”
-Sithlid (Hive Controller) “Krang”
-Spider “Oxford”
-Dragonhawk (Red) “Pasha”
-Cat (Snow Leopard) “SaveMeh”
-Monkey “Spike”
-Raptor “Tai”
-Sithlid “Zephyr”
-Loque’nahak “Cecil”
I think I have one more stable slot, but I make get rid of a couple birds to make room. Terrorpene is next on the list, going through a few names like “Mac”, “ICECREAMTRUCK”, or “Firetruck”. Must tame them all!
That would be a cool hunter-only achievement…
Gotta Catch 'Em All! - Tame at least one of every tamable animal species in the game.
It’s called Water Spout, and IIRC it can’t be interrupted. Don’t remember for sure if it can be dodged, but I think so. I really didn’t bother too much, since my health pool is so high and I have a lot of self-heals now.
My Eecheyakee is named Jiichan 'cause I thought he looked kind of grandpa-ish. ![]()
They don’t drop anywhere, which is driving the market up crazy.
The new healing pots are pretty shitty for tanking, even with an Alch Stone equipped (+40%). Unfortunately, I’m not sure there’s anything else that much better, and the slashed duration on the Armor pots means that it’s not even worth your while to pre-pot anymore. Thanks, Blizzard.
See also: the stat budget on flasks is *completely *fucked up. The raiding flasks all give +300 [Stat X]… which is a problem, because Stamina is worth less per point than any other stat. Compare this to gems, for example: a current Rare gem would give 60 Stamina but 40 Intellect, Strength, etc. If the other flasks are giving 300 of their stat, the Stam one should give 450 (50% more).
Thought y’all might find this guy’s blog entry interesting:
I was thinking of changing from English to German, just to challenge myself, but wasn’t sure if WoW had a language option “button”.
This sounds like you have to download a “patch”?
Thanks

Having a hell of a time farming for Volatile Air…what’s the easiest way to transmute…who in BDL or Cairne has the mute?
I can’t verify, 'cause I’m not able to access most WoW stuff at work, but I believe the only way to get Volatile Air is though Transmute Volatile Life, and the results of that are random.
Doing the xmute in Uldum should yield volatile air every time, unless something has changed recently.
I also got 21 VA in a H: Vortex Pinnacle run, but YMMV.
Yes, it’s called a “language pack” and you can get it from their webpage. Once you have it, you can switch language either from the Launcher (under the “Options” menu) or from the Interface options ingame (under “Languages”, the very last option).
It only translates game messages: quest descriptions, stuff mobs say, spell names; whatever players say will still be in English.
If you’re an engineer there’s a gizmo which lets you collect volatile air when you mine (I think it also works for the other collecting professions). Other than that and the transmute, there’s air elementals, but we don’t have many of those and, as pretty as the Vortice is, you can only run one instance so many times before you start to hate it.
Been using this chart to kill the mobs in Twilight Highlands and Uldum, but I’ve only wrestled up 8 VA for a couple hours of farming. Those listed percentage rates are off by a factor of 10. And I haven’t been on a stable enough computer to run heroics let alone 5mans.
I think the best I can do is fish up Volatile Fires, sell it on AH and just buy the VA on AH, although it will take 2 VFs for 1 VA to do it at Cairne Auction prices.
But, apparently, only collecting professions. Great. My engineers are leatherworker/engineer and tailor/engineer. Hosed again, especially since the Zapthrottle mote extractor now appears to have absolutely no use in Cata.
Way to play it, Blizz. To suck so bad, you HAVE to try.
More raiding tips: So simple, a 3-year-old knows how
I have the mute and am a transmutation master which sometimes procs a second set of 14-16 volatile (usually not air, the last few times it was earth or fire). Keep in mind that the mute is tied to an alchemists global mute cooldown, so if they’ve already done it for the day (or transmuted pyrite or truegold or one of the Wrath Epic gems), they’re stuck until midnight server time before they can do it again.
I’ve been using mine recently because I can purchase Volatile life for relatively cheaply and transmute it to Air and make 2-300G profit per day on the AH.
Jay, have you ever tried aktep’s tip?
Oo, it worked! Better yet, the resulting 14 Volatile Air sold within 60 seconds of posting.
