New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

It also seemed to me that the number of human-side face and hairstyle choices were fewer than what’s available for “regular” humans, though that’s probably because there are fewer corresponding worgen-form faces and hairstyles.

I think he meant that his partially-completed achievements reset, which is the same thing that happened to me. My paladin completed everything except Elders of the Dungeons last year, only getting 3 or 4 of those elders. This year, the achievement said I didn’t have any of them and so I have to do those same ones again in addition to the ones I didn’t get last year. It looks like you have to get all of them for a particular achievement during the same year’s festival.

Dear Og that one in Maraudon is a PITA!

Mauradon is a PITA!

ahem . Reckon I might oughta leave that one alone.

As far as the German language package goes, reckon I might oughta leave that one alone too.

I have enough trouble with the English language servers.

Speaking of servers: I was on Darrowmere with my new Worgen hunter Fokko (!) during the night, and it occurred to me that I might be the only player on the server. Meaning the only Worgen in E. City So…

I logged out and the population was “medium”, so there had to be some other folks there.

I guess there’s no way to pin it down any further than that though, huh?

Thanks

The packs are compatible, and people will, if he links the quest/item and they click on the link. In the Spanish servers I play in English; people speak SMS-Spanglish… and you get links from people using the German, French or Russian language packs as often as from the English or Spanish ones. Click on the link and you get the info from your language pack.

Using the barbershop on a worgen is a PITA: some changes (for example hair color) affect only the human form; others affect both - but you can only use the barber in werewolf form, so aiming for a specific design on the human side is a matter of trial… nope… back to the chair… nope…

Worgen forms only have black manes, black manes or black manes - talk about needing a redesign! My worgen is part of my guild’s “baby runs group” (we’re getting every baby instance achievement as we level); half the time that means 3 male worgen who can be differentiated by their clothing and two females who can be told apart because one has a bow :stuck_out_tongue:

There is a fix in the next patch regarding the Worgen and the barbershop, not sure of the details though.

If you want to see who - from your side (Alliance/Horde) - is in a specific zone, type in:
/who (zone name)

So if you want to see a list of everyone in Stormwind, type “/who Stormwind” and a box will pop up with a list.

Figured out last night that I can’t solo Halls of Stone because I can’t keep Brann alive through the Tribunal event.

Also figured out that I just plain can’t do Skadi in Utgarde Pinnacle solo, which means I’m going to have to ask my guild for help to get the last dungeon elder. :stuck_out_tongue:

So my guild had a Bastion of Twilight attempt scheduled for last night, but alliance was actually defending Tol Barad for once, so we decided to help defend and then did Baradin Hold.

As frustrating as TB is on offense, its pretty fun on defense (though my serever is notororious for a higher population of horde players). We had some really close shaves but won in the end. The Boss in Baradin Hold was fun too… we wiped 3-4 times before we got him (including one attempt where he enraged and wiped us at about 145k HP). Probably would’ve got him sooner, but one of our healers was severly undergeared (part of the reason we didn’t do BoT) and didn’t even have any gems or enchants (/sigh) and he was going oom by the first fire phase.

All in all, it turned out to be really fun, my guild may not be cutting edge, but we have fun together

Also, for the first time i did the dailies on Baradin Peninsula… what a grind that is!! i’m making sure to never do those solo again.

Get into the chair as Worgen.
/change while in chair
Tada  It works.

Doesn’t help that it’s about useless, though.

Only by some very strange definitions of “works”, since it takes me out of the chair. It works like casting midflight works, albeit I must admit less painfully.

That’s why I want the ability to random queue for old dungeons. At the end of Wrath I used to tank queue for random regulars like Nexus/Utgarde Keep. Those level 70s sure appreciated having a decently geared lvl 80 tank! Now wouldn’t it be even more awesome with a level 85 running through regular Deadmines?

I’m having trouble with this one, y’all.

I have the staff, and I think what you’re supposed to do is target (R. Click), and then click the staff (Left Click) and those guys are then supposed to bust up into little pieces, but that isn’t happening for me, even though they’re only 81’s.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Q

Ever try to catch a just-departed ship on your Gryph?

Can’t be done, or can it?

Q

Are you in range? You’re looking for the Blazebound Elementals or Blazebound Revenants. Target, then click the staff on your action bar.

I can do it with the zeps on Hordeside, but it depends how late you are. Once they get up to speed, you probably can’t, unless you’re coming in the other direction.

Ah! I was going after the first elemental I saw in the area. I’ll try again.

Thanks, jayjay

I do it all the time in Stormwind. Usually, though, I’m coming from the Dwarven District, so they’re not headed purely away from me. But it’s definitely do-able, and leaves you with a sense of hard-won victory when you do it.

Or maybe it’s just me, but I’ll take what I can get

The gryph Silka has to land like a helicopter, because I can’t swoop down on the deck like I could if she were to take a running start on the ground. This results in a very comical “trial and error” method to make sure we’re landing on solid ground/deck, so unless the boat’s empty, I just get on board on foot or with Silka the mare.

The reason I asked is because I got to the Theramore docks just as the ship was pulling away and took to the sky to try to catch it, but even though my gryph is flying faster these days, we couldn’t catch it.

Quasi

I just fly over the boat then dismount in mid air and I also do this when entering buildings, if you time it right you sort of drop into the entrance on the run. Looks pretty smart if you ask me. No one does mind you…

Halfway between 84 and 85 on my pally having managed to pick up enough gear from quest and rep rewards to respec from Holy to Prot. It’s nice to have an axe in my hand again though I am not looking forward to the first hour or so as I get used to my new key bindings and abilities.

Arg! flails around Some people piss me off. Hunters have a two-step process to CC right now - you have to hit Trap Launcher, aim, then select the trap type. That step right there - aiming - increases the time needed to use it. It isn’t like a spell, where you can just target an enemy and hit one key. Even all the macros require two key presses. Plus, like I said, you have to aim. So most hunters are going to be slower than someone using Hex. I fucked up once - got too close and got aggro - and then the healer mocked me and the tank just said we’ll use Hex.

Goddamnit, how am I supposed to learn CC if everyone gives up after one problem? Ugh. And these are just regular dungeons. I’m not even going to touch Heroics until summer when everyone gets their panties out of a knot. I wouldn’t even be doing randoms right now except I need the rep boosts.

In happier news, I cracked 5k DPS yesterday. Also finished up Uldum! Off to Twilight Highlands I go.

Uldum end of Harrison quests spoiler:

The cutscene where Brann saves you from Schnottz froze for me. Just before he was going to leave the coffer - I don’t know how he does - it froze at a closeup of the coffer. Luckily it let me just skip the cutscene instead of crashing the game, but now I’m hoping it’s in the Cinematics screen. I mean, it’s Brann fuckin’ Bronzebeard saving you from a Nazi goblin. Fabulous!

/cranky Wrath newb

Too bad Brann f’n Bronzebeard doesn’t sound more like Sean f’n Connery.
