am levelling up Blacksmithing. Anyone know why Runed copper gloves sell for 84 gold? everything else is a big loser compared to its material costs. What is so special about this item?
Nothing as far as I know +2 strength at that level is quest reward sort of stats, nothing special.
My DK hit 75 late last night so she can now level up alchemy and enchanting and I can start to earn some decent money again. I was struggling a bit in Northrend questing as it was rather dull until I hit Zul’Drak which even at the third time of asking is a joy to level in for some reason. Though I failed to solo Ragemane twice, I’ll be back you big turtle you.
Three shot Magmaw this Wednesday then had a surprising one shot of Halfus. Usually we die in the first thirty seconds of the fight, but we went through him like a hot knife through butter.
We had a tank sub in again for our MT and he hadn’t done the fight and neither had one of the DPS. I can really see how the drake combination make the fight much easier/harder. No tanking stuff dropped, only holy pally gear and an agility trinket from Halfus. We’re up to Valiona and Theralion now, had her down to 25% on our last attempt but people still have trouble with stacking, spreading out, and not standing in front of the dragon who’s breathing fire over half the room.
I’m still a little sad at respeccing to Fury from Arms, never really liked the playstyle. Arms is just a lot more fun to me, but I was pulling decent numbers last night on Valiona so that make me happy I was able to contribute even though it was my first day as Fury. I want my Bladestorm back though!
Hit 85 on the hunter last night, now comes the fun part of searching for things to tame and then leveling them through the random dungeon finder. I’m thinking Sambas followed by Terrorpene and then maybe the ghost wolf, though I’m sure he’ll be camped more than Loque. It’ll still be fun to try and if nothing else I can just fly around and mine win/win!
Picked up a new Castbar/Timer addon to replace Quartz, it just wasn’t impressing me. Happened to find Gnosis while watching some Rated BG action and picked it up. From what I can see it’s a lot more customizable than Quartz and a lot prettier too, which I like. Here is a screenshot I took after installing it and just moving my target cast bar. It’s a lot easier for me to see a cast now since I like everything to be a bit bigger than usual. I’m sure I’ll mess around with it more today just to see what other things it can do.
And why did Blizzard change the Faded Wizard Hat? You can still transform, but the moment you remove the hat the transformation disappears. I loved that thing, used it every cooldown but now it’ll just sit in the bank while I go back to my Noggenfogger. It’s a pain in the butt to go through H SFK with three taurens blocking the hallway, that hat was my savior.
Because Blizzard hates fun. And freedom. And apple pie.
Communists.
Seasonal crap. Lots of crafting mats, most of which are two ex-packs obsolete. (Just never know when you’ll need to craft some level-15 leatherworking stuff!) Reputations turn-in crap.
This last one torqued my jaw. I had about 25,000 rep points worth of Argent Dawn turn-in crap in my shadow priest’s bank. That’s 1 1/2 large bags worth.
If I had read the 4.03 patch notes, I may have noticed that the turn-in NPCs were being removed. That’s right. I had 20 slots worth of crap that I’d been saving for MONTHS that I’d just have to vend for a few silver or throw away (in the case of scourgestones).
So now my shadow priest has lots of empty bag slots.
Huh. I think I have a few bag slots taken up with that stuff. Oh well.
(I also keep some of my old obsolete armor if it looks cool enough).
New money making scheme: every day I play, I spend 10 minutes (one Fishing Hat cooldown) fishing off the coast of Twilight Highlands, swinging by the lava pool to see if there are any Volatile Fire nodes to fish. I usually end up with 20+ fires, 5 or so waters and, most profitably, half a stack of Deepsea Sagefish which sells for almost 300g on our server.
Chimaeron down. 9/12 now: just the end bosses left. Can’t wait until we open up our new dark phoenix mount! I never ceased to be amaze how easy fights become the second you’re able to stock your raid with even vaguely competent people. Should be all-guild runs starting next week, when our healer trial gets back online and a friend from my previous guild who transferred here is able to start making raids.
Yup, I agree that if it’s just a leveling weapon, it’s not worth the trouble.
It’s my understanding that the “limited number of restores” isn’t actually a solid number. They don’t have a concrete cap that they’re ticking off towards every time you open a ticket. Rather, they simply keep a record of everything they’ve done for you, and the “limited restores” gives them a polite way to decline if you demonstrate a pattern of carelessness, such as *repeatedly *vendoring or DEing your equipment.
Almost everything in my bank is soulbound items–anything that isn’t bound, or that’s account-bound, is on my bank alt/AH mule. I have a lot of random outfits: fishing, cooking, various holidays, mariachi, etc. Then I have a variety of items and trinkets with fun effects that I’ve collected over the years (though some of those travel with me at the moment, since I don’t have enough gear to build multiple tanking sets for this expansion yet). I also save a minimal amount of my raiding gear: helms (mainly Prot tier), weapons (mainly tanking), and shields. I used to save more, but I just don’t have the space.
ETA: Oh, and TABARDS. Dear sweet jesus, so many fucking tabards. I have a bag *full *of them, and it’s *still *not enough space. I must have about 30 of the damned things now.
Different world events use different types of currencies. If you mean the Coins of Ancestry that you’re getting from the Lunar Festival, those are used to purchase rewards like clothes and fireworks. There’s a vendor for the coins in Moonglade.
Not that much when you figure that everybody in the group should be over 100k. As a tank, unbuffed, I have over 160k HP. That’s over eight seconds to live without any healer intervention, self-heals, or CDs. More than enough time to realize that something is wrong and get the hell back into the correct room.
Could be the price had just shifted. Or maybe the person is a moron. Regardless, you’ll get the best price on the Horde AH, if you can finagle the transfer. What you want to do is have a friend help you, or if you have two accounts, you can do it yourself. One person posts the kitten on the neutral AH for 1c BO/Bid, and the other person immediately buys it out on the opposite side. (Obviously one of you will have to roll an alt if you don’t already have characters on both sides.) If you’re coordinating the posting and buyout over Vent/Mumble, it’s almost impossible for anyone else to snag the auction in the second it’s up for. I’ve muled dozens, if not hundreds, of items across factions in this manner, and over all the years I think I’ve had maybe one item get lost in transit (if that–the only time I can actually remember someone sniping the auction, they realized what had happened and returned it).
You’re having a melee work on the parasites? That strikes me as odd. IME, you want the melee to stay the hell away from the adds and stick to the boss, because if they pull aggro they’ll just get infected. Too, depending on how many melee DPS you have, they may also need to stick next to Magmaw to jump up and chains him.
We have one person out kiting the parasites and serving as a pillar target. Everybody else, including the ranged DPS, stacks up on Magmaw’s ass. When the parasites spawn, all of the ranged DPS switches to the adds and burns them down before going back to the boss. We usually only have two melee, so we stay on the boss the whole time and are responsible for the chains.
Do they *sell for *84 gold (i.e., you’ve had auctions bought out at that price), or are they *posted for *84 gold?
Are there fights where it’s useful now, or did they buff it? In Wrath, it was almost always a DPS loss to use it on a single target (there was one proc that made it worthwhile), and IIRC the last time I looked in Cata it was always a DPS loss on a single target. Fun animation, though.
Congratulations! That’s where my raid is too–we spend some quality time with Cho’Gall last night and I’m hoping to see him down next week. Fortunately another 10-man in my guild is already 3/12 heroic, so we got our first Dark Phoenix a couple of days ago when a guildie hit exalted. It’s a pretty thing–not quite as pretty as Ashes of A’lar IMO, and it’s a lot less substantial. But still very impressive! I can’t wait to hit Exalted so I can get mine. ![]()
That’s my understanding as well.
Why? There aren’t that many of them that you can’t replace by going back to the tabard vendor if you simply must have them for something, right? I mainly hang on to the ones that I earned and aren’t easily replaceable (like Argent Dawn and Tabard of the Explorer) along with whichever rep tabard I’m using to farm at the moment. If I have a burning desire to wear the Scryers’ Tabard again, I’ll just go back and buy another copy.
I have a confession to make.
I have a crush on Varian Wrynn’s hair.
I really don’t like the man. He’s a racist doucheface who wants to do right by his people but cripples them through his hatred for the Orcs.
But his hair. Argh, every time I see a player with that hairstyle, I turn into goo.
I bought a Taverncraft mug. I was going to go for Ironforge, because really, no one brews better booze! But guh, Varian and his hair are on the Stormwind mug. If I have to look at this thing, I might as well look at his hair. All the time.
I gave my blood elf warrior that hairstyle (in white-blond) just because I like it so much. So you’re not alone.
The only blood elf hairstyle I like better is the one with “wings” on the side (the shoulder-length male style). But yeah, the Varian hair is one of the few things that makes human males look halfway decent. If you can ignore the harelip. ![]()
I was happy when it finally dawned on me that I didn’t need to keep all those Northrend rep tabards hanging around in my bank. Also when it occurred to me that some of the holiday clothing is easy to obtain the next time the holiday comes around, so no need to keep it in my bank either.
I had one pair sell at that price. I have no idea what the buyer was smoking.
I could cure you of that crush, I think. My seldom-played-lately human priest decided to get that haircut, and between that and all his flamboyant, mismatched gear, he looks like…well, I just don’t know. Like a hell of a character, I’ve gotta say. ![]()
Tao, sorry my friend, but when I click on your link, it launches one of those “your computer is infested with spyware! Click and we’ll run a free scan”. “Cancel” will run the scan. “Okay” gets rid of it.
I have spybot and am running it now.
It may be legit, but I tend to be wary of those kinds of popups.
Sorry!
Q
Just the now-familiar RightMedia, that I get every day showed up. Don’t know why SpyBot can’t block that one.
Also for jayjay: I forgot to thank you for Usum’s flightpaths in Ashenvale a couple of days ago, so THANKS!

Re: Bags and what y’all store in them. I guess the reason mine stay so empty of the stuff you save is because I don’t play the game the same way you do, so I don’t get a lot of the “perk drops” that you do. I also auction those perky drops as soon as I get them, because again, I don’t play the game like y’all, so I don’t get a lot of gold.
Speaking of which, I need to get Wolkie back into that cave on K3 and that dinosaur place to farm some more leather. With him being an 81, that shouldn’t take very long.
Those bags do come in handy when I want to help my other toons with their professions, though.
Thanks

Not bragging, but I have had hardly any lag ever since I loaded Game Booster. 58-60 almost constantly, Oakie. The only times I have lagged seriously were when I forgot to switch GB on or I got itchy for another game and downloaded King Arthur recently. Guess my set can’t handle 2 games without lagging.

Gah, wt…?
It’s imageshack, which I always use, but they have changed things so you need to log in to get a straight link. I’ll try again and just create an account, I guess; I’ve been using them for almost a decade so I guess they’ve earned the right to know my email. ![]()
