I am struggling to remember any specifics. I think you just keep using the sabre to gee up the troops.
Quasi, just follow the crowd of troops – they will show you where to go. It’s a fairly winding route, but eventually you end up at a big square and then a scene plays out.
Use the sabre to motivate the troops whenever it’s available for you to use, but don’t engage the enemies yourself as they’re too powerful for you.
Q, when I did that quest, I stayed close to the front with the leaders and kept spamming that item they give you. I didn’t try to do much damage until we got to the final boss (Sylvanas). I don’t remember all the details of the fight, but just try to keep up with the group and follow them. Sorry I don’t remember more details.
If you haven’t done this alread, you should look up the quest on wowhead.com and read the comments - there will usually be helpful advice there.
Skammie
Yeah, I looked it up, but really couldn’t get it to make any sense, so that’s why I asked here. I have gotten into the habit of doing that first (wowhead, thotbot, et.al.) and then only ask here if I need to.
Okay, I understand now and we’ll try that this evening.
Thanks

I’ve had that happen a few times myself, and love it. It’s always nice when people help out, and I try to make sure anyone solo that’s around when I’m in the area gets some help if it’s a tough mob.
Generally, a /salute or /bow will be seen as such by the other faction, so that’s what I usually use when I need to thank or acknowledge one of them.
Whenever I see something funny or awesome I /salute or /cheer, but I always forget to target the person doing it, so I’m standing around a group of people that are impromptu dancing in the middle of Dal and I /cheer Marcia Chase. :o Happens way too often.
Like somebody else said, just stick close to Liam. One thing I’ve been doing when I need to follow or escort an NPC is click on that NPC to target them, then right-click on their portrait and select “Raid Target Icon ->” and put a star over their head. That way I can always see where they are even when I have something else targeted.
You only get a control panel if you’re on a “vehicle”. In this case, you’re using an item that you carry.
In a similar vein, I really really wish they’d make friendly NPCs (questgivers, trainers, vendors) invalid targets for spells. One of the most aggravating things, at least before they allowed flying mounts in Stormwind, was my mage casting Slow Fall and leaping off the Mage Tower, only to discover that she actually cast the spell on the trainer she’d just spoken to and forgotten to delselect :smack:
I’m having a bit of fun with my mage and my priest, dismounting high over Stormwind and then casting Slow Fall or Levitate. Here’s my priest:
I have the same issue in dungeons. I /ready to tell the tank that I’m ready, but it’s after I’ve selected the mob. So I usually get, “You tell General Umbriss that you are ready.” :smack: Of all things, that should aggro him? ![]()
Got not one but 2 great PUGs, over the course of which I hit exalted with Hyjal for the ferocious wolf belt and made it to 2200 justice points for the helm. ilevel 334.
Question for the other alchemists out there: are there really no level 60 elixirs? My main is a max-level alchemist, and I had her whip up a big batch of Elixirs of Draeneic Wisdom for my priest, who was level 50 at the time, the level required to use that elixir. Now that my priest is level 63 and has just about used up all those elixirs, I thought I’d make her a batch of whatever elixir would be appropriate for her at that level. And that’s when I opened my Alchemy window and discovered that the “requires level 50” elixirs are followed immediately by “requires level 70” elixirs.
Seriously? Nothing at all for level 60-ish toons? I’ve learned every recipe the trainer has to offer…

Here are the “Requires Level 60-69” elixirs. Not very many. Most appear to be BC-era random zone drops. Good luck farming (or farming the AH).
Okay, stupid hurts, don’t it?
I completed the quest, but then couldn’t find Lorna. (I know she was in the inn. Now.:)) So when I couldn’t find her (and hadn’t read all the instructions) I went back to the livery stable, thinking I’d end the quest there.
No.
So I did the whole quest again. Didn’t abandon it and do it over. Just followed everyone inn, thinking I’d follow them all around and find the inn, etc.
No.
First of all, I no longer had the saber, so it took them a lot longer to kill the bosses, and secondly, Lorna doens’t appear till the whole shebang is over so I had to wait till Liam died and then continue.
Slowing the invevitable is next.
Thanks everyone.
Q
The good news, Quasi, is that you’re getting very close to the end of the Gilneas quests. A few more and you’ll find yourself sailing away on a Night Elf boat.
Shows what I get for using a guide to power-level the profession. It skipped right over those! Looks like Elixir of Major Shadow Power is the only one particularly useful for my shadow priest…
Thanks ![]()
ETA: And :smack: it requires being Revered with Lower City to purchase
Because I’m a stubborn bitch, that’s why! ![]()
You and me both! At least your other Alliance characters are still Alliance–it still feels wrong every time I log onto Sleutel and she’s a Blood Elf in Orgrimmar instead of a Night Elf in Stormwind. ![]()
IMO, 5.9k is fine for Heroics.
Ack! I keep forgetting about that.
Let’s see. Here are all the dragons I can remember from non-raid PvE content:
TBC (6)
1-6.) Netherdrakes from Netherwing rep
Wrath (9)
7.) Bronze drake from Strat
8.) Blue drake from Oc (formerly 10-man Maly)
9.) Blue protodrake from Skadi
10.) Red drake from Wyrmrest rep
11.) Bronze protodrake from Time-Lost Proto (rarespawn)
12.) Green protodrake from Oracles rep item
13.) Red protodrake from Heroic meta
14.) Violet protodrake from holiday meta
15.) Albino drake from 50 mount achievement
Cata (5)
16.) Stonecore drop
17.) Vortex Pinnacle drop
18.) Alchemy-crafted BOE
19.) Heroic meta
20.) Tol Barad rep reward
And here are the ones from raids:
TBC (0)
None
Wrath (9)
1.) 10-man Naxx meta
2.) 25-man Naxx meta
3.) 10-man Sarth+3D
4.) 25-man Sarth+3D
5.) 25-man Maly drop (not including 10-man drop because it was moved to Oc)
6.) 10-man Ulduar meta
7.) 25-man Ulduar meta
8.) 10-man ICC meta
9.) 25-man ICC meta
Cata (1)
10.) T11 raid meta
So, actually, there are currently twice as many PvE drakes that *don’t *come from raiding. And that’s not counting the Arena drakes. Also, while the raiding meta drakes might still be hard (or at least inconvenient) to PUG, Sarth+3D is a faceroll zerg now (and has been since well before the end of Wrath). You could easily start doing that every week (although you’re now limited to either the 10 or 25 each lockout).
Unless they changed it, those drakes also drop in normal.
Actually, I thought the Violet was much easier than any of my raiding drakes. Mainly because it only depended on me.
Hit is absolutely your best stat, hands down, until you get to 8%. They changed the color of Hit gems to blue a while ago; the change applied to every Hit gem in the game. You will never find any gems with the same stats that are different colors. Like someone suggested, use combo gems if you have to, if there’s a really good socket bonus; but don’t gem for the bonus if it means you’ll be under 8% Hit, because whatever the socket is giving you will be necessarily inferior.
If you want to pick up a yellow gem slot bonus, your best bet is going to be a gem with the prefix “Piercing,” which will give you Hit and Crit.
Unless you’re over 26 Expertise, don’t pull stats away from it to put into Hit. If you are over 26 Expertise, you should be reforging all of the extra off your gear anyway.
Except Resilience.
Any preset emote will be seen by the other faction. You only get the “strange gestures” message when you make a custom emote.
Woo! Glad you figured it out. I’ll be raiding tonight, but if you get stuck again, drop me an email, and I’ll try to answer in between pulls.
I’m not usually one to mix my politics with my gaming, but I just saw a Loremaster Palin on my server and giggled. Not the title I would have associated!
All my action bars disappeared after the Liam’s tomb quest. Anyone know how to get them back?
Thanks

never mind. log out/log in

He wasn’t doing it as melee, what he did was use DnD and throw stuff at them. We did not have any AoErs available. So basically we were doing what you describe, but with extremely-limited resources.
