[QUOTE=4.1 Patch notes]
Work has begun on a new Looking for Guild system. Further details will be provided when we are ready for feedback.

O rly?
I miss the BDL, but I don’t want to Faction Change my main. But man, I want some guild rewards and do some guild dungeons runs. I could always join an established guild, but it’s no fun if you don’t know anyone.
It’s hard for me to give generalized “ranking” type information, because WoL is all top-parses are just a step above useless. Here is one data point - Atramedes from WoL:
40th best Frost DPS - 16.2k. Unholy - 17.5k. Kitty - 16.5k. Ret - 18.6k. Rogues - 18.6, 16.5, (no numbers for subtlety - nobody seems to use this…). Enhance - 18.7k. Fury - 17.5k. Arms - 14.7.
It’s just one data point. But I’d say that we’re basically behind everyone but Subtlety rogues and Arms warriors. I verified the same pattern on Chimaeron.
The bigger problem with Frost DPS is that so much of the damage is proc based. If you get a good run of Killing Machine procs (gauranteed crits on Oblit) and Runic Empowerment procs (useful runes being regenned), then you can do quite well. Otherwise it can be quite bad (like, barely beating the tank bad). Obviously top-50 logs are going to be fights with good RNG.
I know I dropped from near the top of my raid to near the bottom (about a 1.3k loss, IIRC, perhaps a bit more) on single-target fights after 4.06. Hopefully the death rune and frost strike/hb changes will bring it back in line with the rest of the melee.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen that happen since Cata dropped. Did they get rid of the ghouling party members thing or is it just nobody bothers anymore?
Still works. I probably used it more often post-Cata than pre- since the boss fights were longer and more likely to end up with party members face up, but it’s still more of an amusement than an actual contribution to a successful fight.
Nobody bothers. The ghoul doesn’t do much damage, and the person likely doesn’t know how to use it. I used it a few times in Wrath just to watch the person run off and blow themselves up. I could have added a whisper or something explaining how to use it I guess, but never got around to it…
It was a cool mechanic, and if they made it do significant DPS (say, 75% of the dead guys DPS), then it would be pretty neat to use. As it is it’s just a waste of time, and thus is getting replaced with this new BRez.
I still think it would be cool if they kept the ghoul graphics for the raised person though.
Oh, excellent. That means that when our druid isn’t around, we still have a Brez.
I am bummed, though, that they’re dropping the amount of gold generated by things like Magtheridon and Gruul. My mage friend and I make a quick 250g + whatever we can vendor loot for, for 10 minutes work every week killing Mags. It’s going to suck to lose that.
My jaw hit the floor when I saw the DK brez. And promptly shared the gobsmack with my guildies. I’m not sure I like the idea, honestly, from either a lore or mechanic point of view.
Also: Buffing HB? My 2H Frost DK is 75 and can peel off the tank easy as spit with that move. I suppose it’s different at endgame, but having to pretty much leave HB to the middle or end of my rotation or drop it altogether to avoid peeling is rather tetchy. I don’t suppose you have any suggestions for how to manage threat other than dancing on eggshells?
kushiel, from some datamined info courtesy of Boub, the Looking for Guild system will probably be something like the LFG finder, only with checkboxes and comments for applicable qualities that you’re looking for.

My priest is back in the Cata heroics game. cheer After a string of frankly fucking depressing pugs, I had the luck to stumble into a H VP with a very awesome pally tank from Cenarion Circle. She cheered me up by noting the three things for a successful pug: Appropriately geared and skilled tank (check), non-oblivious healer (check), and competent DPS (check). We had a good run, joking around and CC’ing and killing things.
As a result I’m about ready for raiding I think (342 gear), and I haven’t had to consider chewing glass since (that’ll probably change if I have another bad string of pugs). And I’ve been specifically thanking the decent pug tanks for tanking ever since – tanking Cata pugs is often a thankless task.
Last night we did a guild run of H DM with a pug tank, and good lord. That instance is on serious crack, especially when you get to Vanessa. I loved it but it’d be hell with a less competent group.
It’s not a straight Howling Blast buff - they are increasing the primary target damage but decreasing (again) the secondary target damage, such that the AoE portion is left pretty much the same. It’s only a buff for single-target DPS (where Frost is lagging right now).
As far as trash pulls in dungeons, you just have to kinda lay off HB. It stinks, but most tanks don’t have great snap AoE aggro anymore, so if you want to start with HB and then follow with a Rime-procced HB, you better also be ready to pop IBF.
I always use my normal AoE rotation at the start of a 5-man and gauge from there how good the tank is at AoE threat. Unless it’s a guild tank and healer - then I pop trinkets, PoI, and HB spam just to annoy them.
I’m a bad person. I giggle whenever I’m taking a flight in Northrend and go over the Wrathgate. I’ll be browsing the net waiting for my flight to finish and then the anguished screams begin.
Also, proving that I have absolutely nothing else better to spend my gold on, I bought a Ring of the Kirin Tor. Right now I’m juggling Netherwing rep, Oracles Rep and Time-Lost Protodrake camping so having my hearth in Shadowmoon Valley and a ring to take me to Dal is awesome.
When we hit 20, we went looking for her mount, only to learn that she doesn’t have one: she’s her own mount, even though she’s been on a horse numerous times in numerous quests, and said horse did not mind.
But this? This is horrendous looking!
It’s called “running wild”, but to me, it looks like my hero has just been demoted!
She used to be human, godammit!
When she stops in front of anyone (like a gryph master) she looks like she’s grovelling fer Chrissakes!
No, sorry, but this won’t do.
She’s not a “wild animal”. She’s a human who can’t help what happened to her, she’s intelligent, and she’s been on mounts before, so let “Sally Ride”, dammit!
I don’t mind the shape-shifting, because it helps her in her battles and travels, but this is totally unacceptable for one of my heroes and I will retire her rather than have to watch this.
