Yeah, but WC is to Mauradon as Billy Barty is to Andre the Giant.
I didn’t know that the loot-roll function took your class into account. What if the pally is trying to equip as a healadin? Can he Need cloth then?
You can Need anything at lower levels; I don’t know what level exactly the only-your-class thing kicks in.
It comes into play at some point; when I was levelling my holy pally I would occasionally ask party members if I could have that spellcaster mail or leather that no one needed but I couldn’t roll Need for. Half the time it got disenchanted though :(.
Now that I think about it, my shammy has rolled need on Cloth gear (when there were no cloth wearers in the group) so Tom’s right, there must be some threshhold.
But at least the RDF breaks up Mara into 3 separate instances. WC is a significant time commitment at-level, especially since people are often still learning their class.
And at least Mauradon doesn’t have that one rock bridge with the hole in the middle.
I don’t think it really depends on levels, as I’ve had “all can roll on everything” at 85. I think it happens when the roller is set to “Free for all”.
OaOW, I think some of the skills you mention simply aren’t available at that level. Something similar happens when people reach Outland: “tank, wtf, use DnD!” “I don’t have it, two more levels to go”.
WC is quite short, now, at least if you only do the bosses that count. A lot shorter than it used to be, for sure.
Yeah, even going back to classic, WC was an instance you ran with friends or guildies, because almost no pug would last long enough to run the whole table. Nevermind that you could count on at least one puggie dropping group after scoring (or failing to score) the one drop they were interested in, just like now, but without RDF magic to fill in the gaps and allow you to carry on.
Mages seem to take a bit longer than other classes to really come into their own. Your arsenal at level 19 is comparatively slow-casting and pathetic. My mage seemed competitive on the boss fights, but trash would die too quickly to get more than one arcane blast or even a full barrage of arcane missiles.
Your dps on trash will suffer even more with hunters or sub rogues in the group – they frontload so much damage you may as well take any non-instant spells you have off your hotbar.
When do mages get Blizzard? Once they do it’s pretty much lolblizzardspam for a while in instances, at least if you’ve got a tank with any AoE.
When I hit 20 I get the one where it costs more and causes more damage on each subsequent cast. I believe that one is a staple of later level rotations.
The friend I’m leveling my hunter with is a mage, and when we did WC and SFK the other night I led all dps (the tank was second) and my friend was dead last except for the healer.
He’s at level 21. I’ve never played a mage, can somone give me a suggestion for him on improving his damage? What should be his bread and butter spell(s) at this level?
Im at 19 and my go to’s (in a dungeon) are arcane blast and the instant fire damage one. When it procs, if the target is still healthy enough use arcane missiles.
Fire bolt and ice bolt take too long. LIke I said though you pick one up at level 20 (arcane barrage?) That I see mentioned in level 85 rotations. It’s the one that each time u cast in sequence it costs more mana, but does more damage. Until I get to try it out later today I don’t know hopw effective it is at low level.
Against groups, once you get it, your rotation looks like:
- Blizzard
- GOTO 1
ETA: not if you have a Druid tank, though; they don’t get decent aoe threat till level 36 or so.
Quasi, are you talking about the one you get in the Dun Algaz pass on your way from Loch Modan to Wetlands, where there are two dwarves - one sends you to fetch the keg and the other tells you to kill orcs (The Stolen Keg)? I’ve done that one a couple times and don’t remember anything about getting knocked sideways. Granted, the first time I did it was on a hunter, who never gets close enough to the mobs to get knocked any direction, but I think I also did it with a rogue and still don’t remember any sideways stuff.
I’m also not sure which talent tree he is in. We can’t assume he picked the best one for levelling - the odds are about 1 in 3.
Endgame rotations are not a terrible concern at lower levels (unless you’ve got the kind of rotation that’s “Frostbolt until something more interesting is available”).
So last night I powered my way through the Lost Isles. I have to say that that was possibly the most fun zone I’ve ever played through. Even though many of the quests boiled down to being simple vehicle or special-item quests, the actual mechanics and content was different for every single one, and every single one was interesting. Pretty impressive, that.
Of course, it’s also a painfully linear zone, and of course you’re cut off from the rest of the world. That alone discourages me from rolling up another goblin any time soon, even if just as a bank alt. I prefer to run my bank alts straight to a capital city, not spend 3-4 hours of game time on someone I’ll never actually play.
Still, I got my baby Shammy into Orgrimmar, and it’ll be Azshara next. I have to say I love the changes to the low level Shaman. I’ve tried twice to level Shamans, and I can’t get them past 16; they just feel too slow most of the time. Now, though, playing as an Enhancement Shaman feels pretty speedy (even if Lightning Bolts and Earth Shock whup enemies faster and more safely than Primal Strike and Lava Lash) and being tied to totems doesn’t feel nearly as onerous as it used to. Also, dual wield at level 10 is freaking sweet.
I also had a moment of panic last night when laying in bed after that play session. I remembered that:
[ul]
[li]I had made the effort to purchase a full set of Enhancement Shaman heirlooms before 4.0;[/li][li]I had loaned the dual hammers to a baby Belf Rogue I’d been fooling with a while back;[/li][li]I had deleted that Rogue two nights ago after checking his bags but NOT checking his equipment.[/li][/ul]
Luckily, as it happened I had been playing ANOTHER Rogue, checking out the new Forsaken starting area before my subscription lapsed. He had the dual hammers. :smack:
You definitely still need the rep keys for BC Heroics, I can tell you that much.
I do! Sometimes it’s like I’m playing the game, and sometimes it’s as though I’m in the game (sort of–there are still sometimes game elements to it, but mixed in with reality). Usually I think it’s Sleutel, but I’ll also sometimes have dreams about other characters when I’m playing them a lot.
Hahaha!
Not sure exactly what the problem is here. Do you keep trying to loot the kegs while you’re being attacked? If so, you need to make sure anything that’s attacking you is dead first. Then you can turn around and pick up the keg.
Wooo, congrats!
Apparently Blizzard sucks at making spell animations that actually match the range of the effect. It’s a shitty fight with shitty RNG.
It’s not that they’re blaming me–it’s just that they’re expecting me to step up and compensate for the fact that they’re not getting it done. The Warlock says that Demo AOE got nerfed in 4.6, so he’s not using that spec; the Mage isn’t going Frost; the DK isn’t going Frost. Any time I run back to help with adds, it looks like they’re not slowed for at least part of the way. Just frustrating. And I can’t keep a close eye on what’s going on because I’m having to pick up every single stack of Fury.
Haha, right?!
Oh no, wait until you’re standing around some time. One Night Elf female idle animation is to bounce up and down on the balls of their feet, and let’s just say, there’s some… jiggle action.
Quasi, **Clawdie ***is *going to be allowed her own mount. There is *nothing *preventing you from buying any of the mounts every other race has access to except reputation.
No, she wasn’t a wolf *until *she was bitten: up until then, she was a Human from Gilneas (as opposed to Wolkie, who’s a Human from Stormwind). *That bite *infected her and made her a Worgen.
So now, she has two forms, and two sides. On one hand, there’s her human form. It’s still a part of her. But there’s also the wolf form, and it’s one that she can’t entirely control.
Running Wild isn’t a punishment–it’s a gift, an extra ability, just like the way she does extra damage (Worgens get a 1% bonus to Crit) or can put on a boost of speed (Darkflight, an ability that temporarily makes you run faster). It doesn’t prevent her from using other mounts. The only thing delaying the use of normal mounts is that the Gilneas faction doesn’t offer any for purchase, because all Worgen learn Running Wild instead. As soon as your reputation is high enough with another faction, you can buy their mounts.
It’s actually something that could be an interesting decision for Clawdie. If you think that holding on to as much of her Human side as possible is important, you could have her *choose *not to use Running Wild, and just travel more slowly, until she could earn a regular mount to ride.
My Mage always had solid damage in dungeons, but I don’t think the RDF existed for most of the time I was leveling her. It could also be an issue of gear, or spec, or rotation.
What I find helpful is that if you think there’s a chance there might be gear you’ll need, you ask at the beginning of the run for someone of that armor class to wait on rolls. Then, if there’s an item no one from that armor class requires, they can roll Need on it for you and trade it over, to avoid having it DE’d.
I heard they moved (or removed?) at least one of the bosses to make it shorter. Anybody run it since Cata?
Actually, the armor class restriction happens when you have the random dungeon finder loot sytem in place, which is a modified form of Group Loot.
ETA:
Actually, I personally find them very helpful for figuring out lower-level rotations. I just edit them based on what I have available, what my Talents currently are, etc.
Oh, and if you’d accidentally deleted your Heirlooms, you could have opened up a ticket to get them back. It just would have taken some time–but they wouldn’t have been gone forever. Glad you found them, though!
That’s just silly. Simply having a Frost DK with Chillblains will make add control 100x easier. I’m still not sure what you mean when you say you run back to “help with adds” - the only time I killed it (not in my main group) the tank had absolutely nothing to do with the Blood adds.
Strange raid night for my main group last night. Spent an hour wiping to stupid, stupid stuff on Conclave of the Wind - got so frustrating we were considering just calling it do to lack of focus. After the RL blew up a little bit at us we killed it and moved on to Bastion. Where we breezed through our farm bosses, had zero trash wipes, and got a new boss kill (Ascendant Council) after only 3-4 wipes.
So we added Atramedes, Chimaeron, and Council to our kill list this week, with Maloriak and Cho’gall on notice. Too bad we had so much trouble with Conclave last night - it made us not have time to check out Cho’gall and fills me with an overpowering dread about Al’akir…
Still really long - have to run all over the place, fight through about a million and a half trash, run all the way back, talk to the druid dude, follow him as he goes to point z (I think they speeded him up though), and so on. They might have taken out the Murloc chief; not really sure.
