New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

They’re all around the crash site. Wonder around the wreckage keeping your eyes open for sparkles. I think you maye have to go onto/into the wreckage for some of the items.

There are quite hard to see objects on the ground, they do sparkle though:

Unexploded Artillery Shell - on the ground near the southern part of the wreck (56.7, 76.4).
Slain Cannoneer - on the ground between the two halves of the wreck (56.1, 74.2).
Captain Skullshatter - inside the quarters on the northern part of the wreck (53.5, 73.8)

I finally had to stop, because even though I found her three times, she isn’t giving up the sword. I speak to her, ask about the sword, but then she just stands there.

Am I supposed to swim to the bottom of the lake? The quest giver doesn’t say so.

Very time consuming/frustrating and plus it would have fulfilled my 25 Valiant seals.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Q

Never mind. I forgot to click on my dialogue in the yellow box, goddamit.

Okay, well, I turned in my 25 Valiant Seals and now, sure enough, the guy wants me to joust a champion again, just like I started and couldn’t finish last year. I may give it one more shot, just because if I can’t do a quest the first time, if I leave it and come back to it, sometimes I can the second time.

There’s a couple of dailies I can do there (Killling the converted heroes is a good source of cash and frostweave cloth), so I will continue those. Then there’s those fish/food dailies in SW.

However, there are some dailies I just don’t “get”. “So far, so bad” is one (reliquary of pain) and “the troll patrol”.

Also I found a way to occupy my time while waiting for the Northrend boat: fish off the dock. It’s mostly junk I’m pulling up, but it gets my skill up (currently at 41).

And I’m going to start doing what you recommended, Oak and not depend on Auctioneer so much. I’ve got about 8 stacks of leather which aren’t selling, because at the time, they were up in Auctioneer prices and I undercut those quite a bit, but not enough. Someone came behind me and undercut MINE, so they’re just sitting there.

My plans are to let them expire and then re-list after first looking at what they’re going for at that time.

Now if I could find where the arctic fur is dropped the most, I’d be set. Sometimes the spiders at the Vanguard place will drop one or two, as will the Gundrak Raps and the spiders in the cavern on K3, but it’s very time consuming and meanwhile I have another 8 stacks of leather holding in my bank bags! Iceweb spider silk from the K3 spiders is another good seller.

As soon as I get my artisan riding, I’m going to get back to my quests, professions and working with the alts. Farming was getting kinda boring anyway.

Thanks

Q

Thanks guys. My problem with that area is that it’s dark and I get disoriented, but I’ll try again. I guess the screenshot I included in the post wasn’t it, huh?

Sure did look like it, though. That arrow pointed right that way, and I was sitting right on top of it. Is there another set of quarters up higher that i’m not seeing, maybe?

As I said, I got the other two, no prob. Saw the sparkles and clicked 'em right away, but this one’s tough.

Thanks

Q

Go in the wreckage and you’ll see it.

First, here are a few screenshots courtesy of Wowhead. I don’t know if they’ll be helpful, because they’re so dark and kinda confused.

This screeny shows an overview of the three locations. “3” is the cannon shell on the ground under the southern wreckage (the bow half of the gunship). “2” is the dead Horde gunner, on on the ground between the two halves. “1” is the clue that’s giving you problems, the gunship captain (and his log). This clue is not on the ground, nor in the “belowdecks” of the stern half of the gunship. It’s in an enclosed “pit” on the main deck of the gunship. This screencap shows what the enclosure of the pit looks like if you’re hovering off the port side of the ship. (Yeah, it does look like a toilet seat. That’s one unfortunate application of the Horde Seal. :smack:)

For that last screenshot, I believe the point of view is (onthis map) about where the “o” in “Storm’s Fury” is, looking approximately southward.

Anyway, land on the maindeck in there and Captain Skullshatter (and his log) are to your left (as you face into the pit, towards the back of the ship).

I have to admit, this is a lot easier for a Horde character, since we’re already familiar with the layout of a Hammer-class gunship. At least, if we’d gotten to Icecrown while WotLK was still on.

Arctic Fur is a pretty rare drop from skinning, you probably won’t find a specific type of mob that drops it more often than others. If you look up Arctic Fur on Wowhead it will tell you which animals have dropped it most often, but it’s rare enough that it probably doesn’t matter which creatures you are killing in terms of how many you can expect to see. It might drop more frequently from higher-level creatures but I’m not even sure about that.

Dammit, this is embarrassing. Anyone done the great divide? I can’t seem to swim into the cave and thottbot says she’s not where the ? is. Here’s a screenshot:

In this shot I just crossed some writing which said “Damplight Chamber”. I try to swim forward and no matter which way I turn I cannot advance into a whole cave. Keep bouncing into a back wall.

Thanks and sorry to bother!

Q

PS: Never mind, I got it.

I found it difficult to find the caves for the first time in Hy’jal. Make sure you pick up the flight (swim?) points

I seem to be sending a lot of screenshots, don’t I, but I think it kinda helps explain a little better what’s going on.

So here’s one more. Ever had this happen?: http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff71/Drummerboy49/blockeditems.jpg

Those two superimpositions are keeping me from choosing reward items and finishing the quest which is complete. Every time I move my cursor to one of them, they suddenly appear and I can’t get any further. Logged out and in. Left the game and came back, nothing works, so I opened a ticket.

How much time would it take an “average” level 85 character to earn 100 gold? I am curious because my good friend recently suckered me into playing WoW again (I had played it briefly years ago), and he donated my level 12 character 100 gold.

I feel kind of bad about it and was wondering how much of his blood, sweat, and tears that gold represents.

100 gold? No time at all. One 5-man gives 88g, I think. A single quest at 85 gives quite a bit too (not sure of the exact amount). Any sort of profession can make many times that on the AH with little effort.

Don’t sweat it till he starts giving you thousands.

Anecdotally, last night I started running my level 85 Mage through Hyjal. Since max level characters don’t earn XP, they earn additional gold instead, so quests will give something like 7 or 13 gold on completion. In addition, many quests provide gear you don’t need, and weapons in particular vendor for 16-20 gold at levels 80+.

The end result is that in about 2.5 hours, I earned about 980 gold. Much of that’s one-time, since it’s not like you can repeat most quests, but the point is that 85s earn gold stupidly fast. 100 gold really isn’t much to worry about.

You can earn quite a bit on dailies if you do all of your available slots, too, so it’s not like the cash flow shuts down once you’ve done all of the standard quests, either.

The converse of this is that pretty much EVERYTHING at 85 is really expensive, including repairs and especially vanity/achievement items like Kirin Tor rings.

Oh sure, but dailies don’t give items for vendoring, which probably increase average gold per quest by another 3-5g.

The nice thing about everything costing so much more, though, is that professions are worth that much more too. It takes the same effort to collect high-end ore or herbs as it does to collect low-end (though with increased competition) and you can sell them for much more.

/wrists

Though, i probably came close to doing that for a couple weeks during Burning Crusade trying to get my epic flying.

Anyway, 100g is pretty much chump change to most 85s, you should ask him what your supposed to do with 100g and why he’s being so cheap

I didn’t say it was SANE…I just said it was possible.

Even by accident.

On my main, I did the Therazane dailies (kind of a waste, since I was already exalted), then the Tol Barad ones (Peninsula, and 2 rounds of PvP area ones), plus cooking and fishing, and then Dragonmaw Clan ones.. and couldn’t turn all of those in, because I’d inadvertently gone over daily limit! That was most annoying.
