What do you do after the 10th day of doing the same damned quests every day? Tol Barad has a refreshing amount of them which is good, but I assume within the next week I’ll be wanting to tell Blizzard to stick their lumber up their arses.
This was just one particular day. I did chain powergrind WotLK dailies for a while, basically for reputation. I guess I have a higher tolerance for boredom, especially since grinding is almost the only way to get some good rewards.
You want Tol Barad rep? Welcome to daily-land.
I know, I just have a tendency to bitch about it - grinding is the exact reason I waited 6 years to play the game. ![]()
Yeah, 100g is not hard to raise at 85. The regular TB dailies are paying 16 gold each, and there’s usually 6 available, so that’s 96 gold in 30 minutes or less usually. The 6 TB dailies that are available when your side controls the area pay 18 gold each…and can be done in another 30 min or so.
Plus vendor loot, plus harvesting sales, etc.
I wish I could do the TB dailies in 30 minutes - I guess I should work on my DPS gear a little more.
I’ve only been in the guild for about two months now. My guild imploded, and a few friends came over to <Aftermath>, so I decided to join them since raiding without friends is rather dull. I was hesitant to do so, since I had to drop my main of the past 5 years in order to raid on my alt priest: World of Warcraft
Overall, it’s been a good decision as I like the guild and the environment. As for Mistax, I have seen him around, but he’s no longer a regular raider so I don’t know him at all. Now that you’ve provided me with your Armory, be prepared to be whispered incessantly as we wipe to the bosses you have on farm. ![]()
Any time I stop to actually think about it, I’m always amused that bosses spend all their time hammering on those of us with the most health and heaviest armor, when they could just turn around and go after the skinny dude in a dress.
Blizzard makes a lot of things available, like keyboard turning and being able to spec into both Titan’s Grip and Single-Minded Fury at the same time. On the other hand, de gustibus non disputandum est. ![]()
If you’re having problems getting him to 20% because of tank deaths, you may want to change that. I actually do the fight in Prot spec but DPS gear, except for my shield. I tank for most of the fight; my co-tank (in normal Prot spec and full tank gear) taunts him off as soon as he gains Double Attack; and then I taunt him back again as soon as that buff is off.
Any item enhancements are purely optional for you. Your belt is probably a high enough level that you require the Ebonsteel Belt Buckle, which will be several hundred gold. Since you’re not raiding or running dungeons, it’s not anything you need.
Keep in mind that your Frost numbers will probably be lower on the dummy than they will be on an actual boss, since Deep Freeze can freeze the dummies instead of doing massive damage as it would on a boss. (Unless they fixed how boss-level dummies respond to that mechanic, which I doubt.)
While not as high as Fire, Frost is still doing respectable DPS and has been since Wrath. It’s no good if you want to min/max, but for just running dungeons (or even casual raiding) it will be fine. I was often at or near the top of the meters in five-mans as Frost in Wrath, and the handful of times I PUG’d a raid boss or two as Frost I was no further down than the middle.
You are not a dork for ordering both. You are a dork for ordering them, period.
(Says the woman who owns a couple of WoW t-shirts…)
I think these actually still go for a few hundred gold. Again, remember to check Wowhead to see the average price they’re selling for.
Cap brought over his Dwarf Priest, made him a Goblin, and leveled him to 85. He’s been having sooooo much fun with Leap of Faith. Our resident Priest (who’s on an IRL hiatus from officially raiding and was my fellow tank when we originally raided together) also has lots of fun with it. I think there’s been at least one dungeon run with those two together, and maybe another Priest all, all randomly Life Gripping people.
You’re not just undercutting people’s bids, are you? Your bid price should undercut their bid price, but your buyout price should undercut their buyout. If you’re undercutting their bid price with your buyout, it would be no wonder that your leather is selling quickly, because it’s probably being posted under the market value.
This was a classic way to skill up fishing back in the day.
I felt like this so often in Vashj’ir. There were some nice things about that zone, but navigating it could be such a fucking pain. Remember that there’s no reason you can’t skip it entirely, at least for now.
Do they just stay up like that? They shouldn’t, when you move your mouse around. They’re just showing you what items you have already that the quest reward would replace. Next time, try moving your mouse away from the item you want to select, and the tooltips should also go away.
Approximately two seconds.
What really helps TB dailies to go quickly is to group up for them. Run with guildies if you can, or even try to find some strangers once you get to the zone.
I can confirm that the Raider training dummies (the skull-level ones), at least, do not freeze. I wondered about that too, but I distinctly saw giant numbers plus Immune when I hit it with DF.
- Blizz says I didn’t complete the quest, even though, (if you look closely) both actions in that quest were completed and it says that, and they’re saying that is why I cannot choose my reward. Moving the mouse away makes me not be able to click on either of those 3 items. I don’t feel like I ought to have to abandon that quest and start over if the game says it’s been successfully completed, and I will tell them so.
By the way, how do you give them an answer on an existing ticket? I can’t click on their last word of their response and the other two options make the whole thing go away and you have to start over with a new ticket.

SFG, can you see my auctions and would you take a look, because now I’m not certain I’m doing it right, thanks!
-
Speaking of auctions, I’am at 5.989.00 gold up from 5,951.00, but oh, lord we did it the hard way - by going on a killing spree and looting from enemies we knew were going to drop money. It’s taken much of the afternoon, and for a long time my auction was “frozen”, but I noticed just now that someone’s just bought out one of my Stormweave Cloth stacks and that 28 gold is going to put me over the top of 6k gold, which means I can buy my artisan riding skill tonight! Yay!

I see y’all are talking about Tol Barad. Gonna try to go there (if I’m a high enough level at 82, that is).
Thanks
Q
Hey, you are further than I am…haven’t even started TB dailies…let alone know what they are and where to get them.
Well the answer to #4 above is I need to be an 85 before I can go to TB.
I’m getting increasingly frustrated with my raid group. We downed Halfus again last week–easy money–but repeatedly wiped today (this is regular Halfus, not heroic; we are not epic). I’m also still running it with my Felhunter out instead of my Imp, as per request of the healers. I’ve tried to point out the following to them:
1.) With our Pally OT back, we have Blessing of Might up, so what you’re getting is just over 2K max mana. No regen boost, since they don’t stack.
2.) With my Felhunter out, I’m losing around 2-3K DPS, since I’m a Destro lock (I’m still pulling second DPS overall, so I’m not totally failing). Which is fine, normally; I know that when I’m on the floor, my DPS is 0. However. . .
3.) . . .the RL keeps on telling us we need to drop the first dragon ASAP. Which I agree with, since we need to get the second dragon loosed as soon as possible, since it’s storm-then-time this week, and it’ll let us avoid the fire on the floor, which I’m sure is making raid heals a bitch and a half.
Still, the healers go “we need the mana!” and they’re very nice overall, and I’ve never played max-level heals. Because of this, and since I don’t know how to run simcraft, and I’m new in the group, I’m keeping my mouth shut. It’s really, really starting to get to me, though; I’m not really doing anything on my main as a result. Instead, I’m leveling my priest. Then I can tell other people how to play their class!
“El’s Extreme Anglin’”: Anglers, is this a pretty good directory for me to learn from, and does it do me any good in catching better quality fish at a low level (just passed 100) if I use a lure, or does it matter at this stage?
I’ve improved my rod to a “strong” one but I’m still catching sick fish, whiskered cats, and those snapper things, and I’m in Valley of the Heroes right now.
Also, just picked up artisan, and I guess master is next at 300 and level 80 (I’m 82 and a half).
So, I tried to read up on riding, mounts, skill levels and everything I have found is outdated by at least 2 years and more.
So how does one get to 300 - quest chain?
And when can I buy an epic mount?.
Thanks
Q
Well, tried my first heroic today (Stonecore). Was a looooong run, we wiped a bajillion times on Ozruk. But it was a group thing, not me being the only fuck-up thing, so I consider it to be a resounding success! I even topped the DPS charts for a little while, so I’m not so much worried about that any more.
As others have said, it takes no time at all. My alchemist can buy a stack of 15 Volatile life from the AH for a bit over 100g, take a portal to Uldum, transmute the stuff into 15 Volatile Air, and turn around and sell those on the AH for over 300g. About two minutes of effort.
Well, in your screenshot, you were looking at your quest log. So it will show that you’ve completed the task(s), but the quest itself isn’t actually “complete” until you go back to the questgiver and turn it in. The questgiver will give you the reward.
You get better fish from higher-level zones, more or less.
But it was the same guy I was standing in front of: that Farseer Guy. See, I was asked to share a vision, then it all looked I went through a portal and we fought the naga and killed the chief Naga.
Here’s what happened later though: a game manager entered my play and explained the same thing you just did, but by then I had left the cave and couldn’t find it again later when I tried.
When I told her that, she asked could she “move” me, and I told her yeah. Well, when she did, it was that same Farseer guy.
I don’t know, Rik, maybe it IS me. I’ve been forgetting a lot of shit lately.
Thanks

That El Angler says that after you get to 75 you don’t get junk anymore, but I pulled up twisted lines anyway.
But yeah, it makes sense: higher levels, better drops. I was just looking for fish with precious lockets inside of them as that El person described it.
I’m almost to 125 now, so maybe I’ll hit some better places soon.
Thanks

TB is a tough place. Expect to die early and often as you learn the zone and the quests. I rarely complete all the dailies without dying. It is very easy to get “one mob too many” there.
On the upside, you will love being a skinner there. In the pvp area, the crocolisks are skinnable, get slaughtered in epic numbers for one of the dailies, and you can skin the corpses others leave behind. You could easily get stacks of savage leather, which sells decently. In the pve area, the Broodmothers (and maybe the smaller spiders, too) are skinnable, get slaughtered in epic numbers, etc.
I had a good night tonight. Reached exalted with Baradin’s Wardens, got a win in my first BG of the night, and got my first taste of Cataclysm raiding on a BOT trash run with my guild. Not happy with my DPS. I was posting about 7500 in arcane spec, and my gear is ilevel 343ish. Think my latency issues have a lot to do with it.
The Dreamless Belt is friggin’ huge.
On the upside, my mage actually has some decent gear on now. I finally swallowed my pride and bought the Prime glyphs I needed but still hadn’t learned through Inscription, put on some gems and enchants, and respecced my talents into something a little more focused. I’m hitting 7k+ DPS now on the training dummy, although it could still be loads better. I’m still only at 8.something% hit chance, so there’s a whole lot of wasted spells going on. It’s painful to watch a Deep Freeze miss.
