New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

My guess is that “250” is his current skill, “20” is his bonus (for an effective skill of 270) and “300” is the maximium level he’s trained for.

You’re correct.

Y’all know how I’m always telling you that stuff like this sounds like a foreign language to me because of all the “WoW Speak”?

Okay. In my fantasy, the above quote by Enilno got printed onto paper and sent through a tear in the fabric of time, where a strong wind in the parking lot of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA blows it against the windshield of the car belonging to none other than J. Edgar Hoover who peels it off, reads it and…

(y’all take it from here!:))

Okay, sounds good. My server is tilted toward Horde controlled so when Alliance goes we need the best people out there. I’ve never had trouble finding a time of day where Alliance controls it though, so I’ll just benefit from the hard work of our best PvPers. Especially since my strategy has become THERE’S A PRIEST, KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT WITH RANGED

is very confused. The only heels he knows anything about are the ones he allegedly wears for his alleged assignations with his alleged boyfriend.

Great! Thanks, Rik! I’m looking forward to upgrading my pole and my skills.

Also about those numbers? Yes, the second one is in green and also appears over the chat/combat log under the heading “Skill”.

Don’t have the hat, but I think I may have been given it, didn’t know what it was and vendored it.:smack:

Thanks

I wish there were a way to check what’s in your bank while you’re out in the field.

Also, back to Wolkie’s being knocked sideways or even backward…

The GM maintains that the best way to fix that way is to “steer” him back correctly with a mouse.

Well, if I do that, it’s like an 8-step maneuver, and, while that’s okay with lower-level NPC’s, I would die with anything 80 or above, if I tried to correct.

So… I have decided to play him that way and see if the game will correct him.

It does, but only when he loots. When he picks up his stuff, he’s facing correctly.

Additionally, if it happens that I leave him alone to fight with his back to the enemy and don’t make at least a MINOR correction so some of his hits get in, it goes on for forever. So sometimes his hits get in obliquely.

This happens mostly in Gundrak with the Raptors and it happens about 3 times an hour.

I know, that in a real world, it might happen that your enemy may knock you down, but not knock you backward.

Sorry, but I still think it’s a game problem and I’ve put in another ticket.

Y’all have never had this problem?

Thanks

I like to put together special Fishing outfits for all my toons, so I thought I’d throw together a collage of a bunch of my toons all geared up to go fishing:

Enjoy

Wow, Rik! Very nice!

I like them all, but my favorite is the nearly naked one on the left.

Don’t know if it’s the way her panties are made or a trick of the light, but it looks like she doesn’t shave her pubes.

They probably didn’t do that back then, huh?

Did you do the collage with photo-shop, 'cause I sure would like to do mine that way, once I get a few more levels onto them.

Again, great job dressing them out for fishing. They look awesome.

The nelf and draenei males look like they’ve wet themselves! Hee hee. Also, I would not fuck with that tauren. He looks like he could kill Deathwing with his fishing pole.

Those aren’t panties! That’s one of those “loincloth” things.

Yep, Photoshop Elements. It was kind of a quick, “thrown-together” project, though, so not my best work. I used to design desktop wallpapers featuring Japanese models & actresses that got lots of compliments (including one from a professional graphic designer who said my use of typography was better than a lot of what he’d seen from trained pros). That was when I still had access to the full, professional version of Photoshop. PS Elements is a very dumbed-down version, and it often frustrates me.

Thanks!

Nah, that tauren’s only level 33 :stuck_out_tongue: He and the draenei male are both protection paladins. My “main” is the human female at the bottom center (ret pally), and the two female draenei are my other 85s (the dark one is a fire mage and the really white one is an arms warrior). The male night elf and the female nelf next to him are brother and sister; he’s a level 80 hunter and she’s a level … 26 I think … priest. The lighting makes it hard to tell, but they have the same color hair. Their skin tones are different due mainly to him being an outdoorsy type, while she’s an indoors and nighttime type (y’know, moon priestess and all that). The gnome is a level 40-ish rogue; the dwarf is a level 47 hunter. The undead is Dimondley, my bitter, hates-being-allied-with-orcs-and-the-like arms/fury warrior, and the human male is obviously a DK (but don’t ask me what spec cuz I never play him and can’t remember). Oh, and the female nelf in the upper right is another priest (level 65).

I do know I’m not the bestest healer out there, but seriously… if the tank acts like he’s never heard of interrupt, pulls five of those razor-handed aliens and two crystal giants in the part right behind the worm, manages to place his ass in between the dragon and two dropped stones during the second bossfight (my braids were tickling the dragon’s chin as I cast), and later on pulls three groups of small mobs and a jumpy giant, it is not MY fault! (Wipes at the two multipulls, DPS warrior flat at the dragon)

Four melee group, too. I want to grab that tank’s shield and smack him with it, repeatedly.

Oh yes and he also didn’t seem to understand the concept of “move behind the gravity wells”. Apparently “behind” means “the area mobs come from”. Does anybody have a shield with a spike I can borrow? I have a tank that needs bashing.

Nice fishing picture Mister Rik

A good night for me starting with passing my trail for the new guild so I’m now down as social player which means I can be included in the casual weekend raiding. It’s a pity I don’t play that much at the weekends (that’s family time in our house) but hopefully I’ll be able to experience something.

My rogue hit level 60 and now can fly his helicopter! This is my 4th toon to experience Hellfire Peninsula and I have to say I really like the zone though I know that’s not a common opinion.

Preach it! Although I had a couple of good runs yesterday - a very smooth run through H Deadmines with the guild (but my bracers didn’t drop, dammit) and an awesome group in Auchenai Crypts with my shammy. That tank was running through crypts like the last boss had a pizza buffet for us. We did the whole instance in 9 minutes.

Being able to fly in Outland now at level 60 really speeds up the levelling, and reduces a lot of the frustration I was starting to feel on some of my later passes through there. There are a lot of quests were before you had to grind through many mobs to reach the target; now you can just swoop in and drop onto the target without any difficulty.

Congratulations. makes whuppawhuppa noises while mimicking flying a helicopter

Now you need a stealth helicopter. And the tribarrel 20mm cannon will give the hunters rifle envy. Seems a little unfair, but you can avenge rogues the entire game over who got ninja outrolled on obvious rogue lewt.

It’s hard to overstate how easy flying makes questing. No more fighting roadside pulls while riding to the quest area. No more fighting your tedious way in to a quest objective. No more fighting your equally tedious way back out after doing the thing. Vertical envelopment at its finest! DEATH FROM ABOVE!

I finally got The Shattering out of the library last night. It’s actually kind of disconcerting reading about people like Thrall and Garrosh and Cairne and Jaina in narrative, instead of through game exposition like I normally do.

And I had no idea that that old cow Magatha had her hand in what Garrosh has become…although I’m not surprised.

So how was the pizza?

More Nefarian attempts tonight, I think. Hopefully we can get folks familiar with the swimming out of the lava part and move onto P3… I’m not sure a kill is incoming, but hopefully progress.

Not just questing either - gathering herbs or ore is 1000% easier from my chopper as well, unless I’m in a zone twenty levels below me (in which case ground mounts are faster).
