New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I personally think that 99% of the Thrall/Jaina stuff is fanship and was never intended by the story devs. Although if the only thing you had to go on was forum posts, fanfic and fancomics, you’d swear the two of them have been getting it on at every possible opportunity for the last five years.

Yeah, I never went for the whole Thrall/Jaina thing. They’re good friends, but that’s all. Besides, if they ever ahem got together, Thrall would *break *her. He needs a woman who’s as tough as he is and can keep up with him. And Aggra’s got enough spunk that she can put him in his place when he needs it. I love the little one-off lines in the Thrall quest: “Have patience.” “You did *not *just say that.”

Random WoW bumpersticker idea of the day: “My other ride is a worgen.”

Well, maybe there’s a type of Mage armor that they don’t tell us about in the game.

Interesting. 107 WoW-related bumper stickers, and the only “My other ride” one is about a “swift purple gryphon”.

Really? REALLY?

That’s kinda… lame.

I think jayjay’s idea is far better.

Now that you mention it, some of Thrall’s lines when he’s in elemental bondage are very revealing. Did you catch him rage at Garrosh for killing Cairne while you’re in the Firelands? That Orc had better watch his step around Thrall. The only reason he’s alive now is (A) the Horde needs some kind of leadership, while apparently the whole world needs Thrall; (B) the two haven’t had a rematch since Thrall ding’ed “World Shaman”; and (C) Thrall is too damn forgiving. For now.

I think it’s would make an interesting death pool: who kills Garrosh, and when, and why?

It would not surprise me at all to see Garrosh as a raid boss in whatever the last patch to Cata is. It would certainly get me to consider resubscribing.

Dude, Jaina has plenty of backbone! Just because it’s not as explicitly shown doesn’t mean she doesn’t have it. She managed to group together her people and move them to a different continent. She stood against her entire family for her beliefs and continued even after her dad and brother died. Blizzard just nerfed pretty much every preceding female character in WoW.

As for the physical part…special size potions are pretty much a trope of Illidan/Kael fic. As is the mysterious oil conjuring spell.

Dude. A Fourth War Raid. End boss is either helping Varian kill Garrosh or vice-versa.

Or helping Thrall and Jaina kill both and write another peace treaty on their bones.

There’s also “My other car is an epic flying mount.”

Basic Campfire; end of the expansion; to be a ten-times better faction leader.

Won’t happen until the final expansion pack, or it will be the flagship of WoW 2. It’s just way too much of an event. Maybe the next expansion, which will be the end of life cycle for the current game engine.

Oh, yeah, another random thought from playing through the Thrall quest line last night:

Majordomo Staghelm” has a strangely appropriate feel. To me, at least, this seems like the natural and inevitable conclusion to that ratbastard’s miserable progress through life. May he die as horribly and ironically as his predecessor.

I just went through the TB portal from the island outside of SW city on Silka my gryph! I’ve never been able to do that before and although she can do short hops, she cannot fly and there are other “birds” with their riders hopping all over the place in the camp!

Anyone know what’s going on?

Thanks

Ardor Armor Level 85
Increases armor by 9000000 while under an orc and causes you to emote /flirt every 5 seconds. In addition, the effects of all love potions are increased by 100%. Only one type of Armor spell can be active on the Mage at any time. Lasts 2 mins (10 if you are lucky).

You can’t fly in PvP zones and TB counts as a PvP zone. You can still use your flying mount but you can only stay on the ground with it.
Ok to answer my own question above re PvP weapons but add another. You can buy the Season 9 weapons for honor but only after you have gained x honor for this season, 7245 I think it was for the wand. Does anyone know where I can see the amount of honor I have gained per season?

All I have to say is “Turtle Punting”!

Punting turtles is awesome.

Unlocked Firelands this morning – the vendor immediately had upgrades for me (4 items in all – caster necklace (int/sta/haste/mastery), agi ring (agi/sta/hit/crit), strength dps something (necklace or ring, don’t recall), and plate tank boots – all ilvl 365). It looks like 150 tokens to unlock the next vendor, ended the morning with 25 marks, and it looks like 14 possible marks per day … so 9 days to the next stage.

Also, BBQ Tauren.

Ran the first two bosses of Bastion of Twilight last night just for giggles (they were already farm status for us) and they were laughably easy. Still very possible to be killed by the mechanics if you’re not paying attention, but small (and even some large) mistakes no longer guarantee a wipe. Very forgiving now.

It’s not as fun as the Rolling ball of flaming death in Uldum, but it IS satisfying.

Welcome to Argent Tourney 2.0, though at least we don’t have to traverse half a continent for these dailies.

IIRC, WowInsider said that it takes about 31-32 days of doing the max number of available dailies to get everything unlocked.

Hey, if we can resurrect thousands of years dead Ancients, we can resurrect a BBQed Tauren

In other news…I don’t like the new Druid mastery so far. Maybe it’ll grow on me, but it’s now yet ANOTHER timer I have to watch. So Rejuv and LB on the tank, WG CD, Swiftmend CD, and now Harmony. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, some very amusing cameos in one of the new dailies. King Mrgl-Mrgl was my party’s healer! (and yes, he was still wearing his murloc suit)

I’m annoyed that Firelands is a no-fly zone. It’s not very large, but it seems pretty creature-dense.

Last night was probably my last chance to play for the next week and a half or so, but I was able to run two of my toons through the Thrall questline and one of them through the new Hyjal dailies (the other one hasn’t finished the normal Hyjal zone quests yet). Glad to see the raid browser, maybe it will be a little easier to pug raids later on.
