New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

That’s bothersome … if I level the camera, I can’t see if my bobber landed in the pool or not :frowning:

Q_Q

gno, that’s something different. This is a separate bug; I’ve had it happen with my DK’s Path of Frost. If it were a camera angle issue, you’d still be able to jump back up out of the water again; with this bug, you can’t.

Wow. Even by WoW standards, that’s pretty borked.

That said, I have run into situations where it took several attempts to get above the surface of the water and have the water walk “take”, but it sounds like you’re describing a situation where either (A) the buff isn’t there, or (B) the buff is hypothetically present (still on the buff bar) but isn’t actually doing a damn thing.

The latter might drive me to ragequit if it happened when I really really really wanted to stay above water. Like, I ride out expecting to cross the water to the sunken boat where Captain Harris is, and I know I can avoid Tank the Shark if I can keep moving at +100%, but I’m boned when I get into the water and that damn shark eats me because I get into aggro radius because I’M SLOW.

Yeah. Tantrum time if that’s what happens. And I guess that’s what happened to Q. That sucks.

“Blizzard quality software.” :smack:

Found the link to the episode notes and it features a big paragraph on the interview - it’s their “Drop of the Week” item!

I was joking with some folks the week Cata came out about how silly the loot-a-rang was, but I carried it anyway, as I’m an engineering completest.
We were in Stonecore, and… The final boss could still bug and die, falling into the lava where you couldn’t loot her.

Guess what? Loot-a-rang saved the day! My guild does -not- let me forget that. Engineering rocks!

Yeah, I’d be on my DK, under water to harvest a resource node, and then I’d try to jump back on top of the water so I could mount up and fly off. No dice, so I’d have to swim to the shore and mount back on land. (Or pull my actual mount tab up and manually mount my flyer.) Obnoxious.

Y’all need to get yourself a turtle. I don’t have a problem staying away from Tank. In fact, amusingly enough, I actually have problems chasing him down when he’s the daily. We should trade!

Thank You!

While I was pleased with my killing ability before, it’s really stunning now. I’ve pretty much been doing this:

and am blowing through enemies. My mana problem is mostly fixed, but not 100%. I forgot to rearrange my glyphs, so we’ll see what happens then.

I just dinged 60. Is it generally assumed that one should make Shattrath City their home at this point? I assume it has everything - all the triners, fishing and cooking dailies, AH, etc?

Joe

Recommend against. When Shattrath had portals back to Azeroth, it was a no-brainer. But now it’s much easier to get into Outland from a capital city than it is to get to a capital city from Outland, primarily because of the portals to the Dark Portal in each city. Keep your home in whichever capital city you’re using, just in case you need quick transportation back.

Since you can fly in Outland from the get-go, and flying is much cheaper these days, travel in Outland isn’t anywhere near as troublesome as it used to be. Likewise, you’re going to FLY through levels 60-68, and then you’ll be moving on to Northrend. Shattrath would be a temporary home at best. I’d recommend you keep your hearth at a capital city, but use the amenities in Shat and log out there.

Shattrath does have it’s own cooking and fishing dailies, but like the Dalaran ones, they don’t share between the capitals. You can do the Shattrath Cooking & Fishing AND still do a cooking and fishing in a capital city, too, and I would recommend it because it’s easy XP and can net you some cool stuff (like baby crocolisk pets!).

Do I need WOTLK to get past 375 in professions?

Is there an easier way to get to outland from Thunder Bluff than going through Orgrimmar? I have a terrible time staying online flying into Orgrimmar - I get disconnected constantly. Do I HAVE to go through the portal in the Cleft of Shadow?

Joe

There’s a portal in the cave on the Spirit Rise. There’s one in every capital, actually (Mage Quarter in UC and in the mage side-room of the palace in SMC).

Yes.

Go to the Spirit Rise. There is a path leading down to a cave. Last I saw it was full of Forsaken, but that may have changed. In any case, there’s a portal to the Dark Portal there.

Every capital city has a Mage trainer, even if the primary race can’t access Mage, and next to that trainer is a Dark Portal portal.

Did Shatt get its portals back like Dalaran did?

Dal got its portals back?

I believe Dalaran got portals back to only Stormwind or Orgrimmar, and my husband just told me Shattrath got portals back to both those cities as well.

Well then. Hearth away.

Yeah they put portals to SW and Org back in Dalaran and Shat to make it easier for levelling toons to use them as hubs. I moved my hearth back to Dal for a bit but it just wasn’t worth it. The only thing I would do there was the Cooking daily in order to get more Baby Spice.

There is access to the AH in Dalaran now too. If you have a bank alt in a high level guild then it makes sense to park them there. You can pick up extra gold by using your mass summon to port people to Dal.

The guards in Shattrath did not have a menu option to find the AH. Is there none?

Joe

I know there is an auction house in the Scryer’s bank, so I would assume the Aldor bank has an auction house, as well. They added them, along with class trainers, when they took all the major city portals out.

Yeah the AH in Shat is in the banks. In Dalaran you find them by the gear vendors.
