Now just get me a portal out of Uldum, please. The only daily I do there anymore is the thieving little fuckers one, and if I happen to port there from that little island outside of SW, then there’s no way back unless I hearth and that seems a waste. I do kill some time killing for savage leather, but I have so much damn gold now, it’s getting boring. Even after I pay the alts their 25 every Friday, I still have over 25 k. Anybody need some that’s in Alex?
Here’s a pic of my latest wallpaper. I’m calling it “Night Patrol”. He’s over in the Sentinel Hill area. Just got through “being with” Heather at the inn.
Depends on where your hearth is set. If you have all of the Kalimdor Alliance and Neutral flight points, you should be able to go anywhere in Kalimdor from Ramkahet. If your hearth is set in Menethil, then you would hearth out to that inn. If it’s set to anywhere else, you’ll hearth there.
Hearth is set in Dwarven sector, due to the fact that all the portals are nearby. But that’s what I was saying: it’s a shame there’s no SW portal on Uldum, 'cause right now, I’m in Dwarven having just hearthed back here, and if I need to hearth out from somewhere I have a 30 minute wait.
I’m sorry, Quasi, but I’m not understanding the problem. You can hop a taxi for pretty much any Alliance or Neutral flight point in Kalimdor in Ramkahet, or you can get on Silka and fly anywhere almost as quickly.
Okay, if you will all let me be a cranky bitch for a moment…
So we’ve been working on Heroic ICC10 for a while on multiple days. I’ve been with the guild group from the start. Calendar said 6:30 server time was the start, and I was online at 5:30 server time. 6:30 rolls around, RL doesn’t show up. I figure he just forgot it was a special time since we usually go at 8:00 server time. 8:00 server time rolls around, I notice the RL is online but not saying anything. We’re a little flexible on our time and often start late. But 8:45 server time rolls around, and no one in guild chat is talking about the raid, so I assume the group just fell apart today. Right before I decide to log, I check the guild roster.
There are 10 people in ICC.
I whisper the RL that I never got an invite, and he tells me that we needed a 3rd healer on the Dreamer and he’ll invite me after. What the fuck? How long have you guys been in there? Why did no one at least tell me I was the one being swapped out for that battle? Better yet, why was I the one swapped out, when I was 2nd on the damage list? I would have gladly sat out if they had asked! I went Away for a little while but alt-tabbed about every 5 minutes, so I would have gotten any messages.
If I hadn’t checked the guild roster before I logged off, I would have left and not gotten into the raid!
Most of the time this doesn’t bother me - this is the only raid we need more than one night for (we only retro raid) but I want to finish ICC. Between all our attempts since April, I’ve probably put as much time into ICC as raiders did when it was top content!
I have had 2 guild tabards available to me for about a month now and have been forgetting to buy them from the SW vendor: Illustrious and Renowned. They both increase my rep with different groups, but need I have bought both to get the one with the most rep?
Those tabards only increase reputation with your guild by 50/100% not a faction so unless you want to get exalted with your guild faster you don’t need them.
There’s never anywhere that you “have” to put your hearth. When I’m max level, I keep my hearth in a hub city (Shatt in TBC, Dal in Wrath, SW/Org in Cata); but when you’re still leveling, it’s usually much more useful to keep your hearth as close as possible to your current quest hub (meaning, an inn in the zone you’re questing in, close to where your questgivers are). You’re going to be turning in quests much more frequently than you need to train or use the Auction House.
This is specially true if you’re like me and have a whole separate alt who handles all your auctions. If you don’t, I’d recommend it. It’s a lot more efficient to just find a mailbox and send all your auctionable items to the bank alt than to haul your butt to the AH on every alt that has items you want to sell, every time your bags start filling up. It’s also easier to just post a bunch of auctions from one character than it is to post them on every alt and then have to deal with the money coming in, expired auction items, etc.
There are actually only a few zones that have portals back to the capitals: Twilight Highlands, Deepholm, and Tol Barad. There aren’t any for Vashj’ir, Mount Hyjal, or Uldum. The portals are a bonus, not something that’s to be expected. All it means is that you have to strategize your hearthstone usage: save the Uldum daily for when you know you won’t have to use your hearth again afterwards for more than 30 minutes.
For instance, you can start in Uldum, do the daily, hearth back to Stormwind, hop through the portal to Tol Barad, do those dailies, and then hop throgh the portal back to SW. By that time, your hearth should be ready to go again, so it doesn’t matter where you go next.
Good stuff!
You don’t need to buy the lower-level one to get the higher-level one: you can start with the better tabard right away. However, these tabards (other than looking pretty) *only *increase your reputation with your own guild. They don’t boost your rep gain with any other faction.
Hyjal has a port as of 4.2. Unfortunately, it’s over in the intro part of the zone where the port from the capitals stick you, instead of somewhere near the Sanctuary of Malorne or the Molten Front.
I went with the moonwell as my first new vendor unlock, mostly because I wanted the +340 Int trinket, but also grabbed the pet and mushroom chair while I was at it. Also finished the Leynara (something like that) quest line, including the locket quest. I can sorta see why she chose to become such a flaming (heh) bitch, but mostly I like the Fire Druid costume thingy. Quite a change from my usual Gnomish charm…
When you port in, you’re in front of that building, and there’s a mailbox on your right. Further right is Org port, if you go left towards the stablemaster there’s the Stormwind port.
Yes…if you face the entrance to the building looking in, the Alliance portal to SW is to your right, kinda in the outside corner of the building—it was obscured by the huge bonfire from the recent event–Midsummer Fest? Something like that.
Horde portal to wherever Hordies go is to your left.
To be fair, most of the crap I was giving you was because you refuse to acknowledge my incredible warrior prowess. The fact that I was killing every mob while you slowly looted [Slimy Bone]s and 12c off of every mob was more of a side note.
Not sure how serious you are about raiding, since you say you only do “retro raid[ing],” which I’ve never done (other than for funzies outside of raid time), but if this were to happen to me in my guild, I would most definitely find some time and have a chat with the guild/raid leader, ideally over Ventrilo/Mumble. Don’t stew with it, especially if you actually like your guild, as I highly doubt your guild/raid leader is going to approach you about the issue. Being up front about this stuff will help avoid future conflicts, especially if you couch it the way you have here, i.e. “I don’t mind sitting for some bosses, but not being invited to the raid and only being told about it after I whispered someone/checked the roster was both frustrating and insulting.” I wouldn’t really mention numbers, but mentioning your experience and performance insofar as avoiding boss mechanics and survivability are solid points to bring up. Hopefully, your guild/raid leader will understand, but if not, at least you’ve brought your points to their attention and have a chance to figure out whether or not you’re getting what you need out of your guild. Good luck.
