New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I honestly am expecting something more along the lines of what EVE did with the Trinity expansion–a MASSIVE graphics/textures/meshes facelift. We already saw a major ruleset change with Cataclysm.

The devs have been talking about how much they would love to update the graphics and engine for years now, but just don’t have the resources to divert from new content or can’t figure out how to do it without knocking lower-end systems out of the game. It seems every 6 months or so they respond to someone on the forums saying “would be nice, love to, but probably won’t happen.” They’re probably feeling like WoW is too close to end of life to be worth it, too.

Note to my “Little Sis”: Missed you, Kiddo!

I know dear friend, jayjay, and I also know to appreciate it. Just like I appreciate my “Li’l Sis” and ALL of you who have helped me get to 85!

I still remember what you said about putting a kid through college when I hit that number, jay! I laughed so hard I farted!

Many, many thanks!

WANT 4.3 NOW. NOW.

For those of you less inclined to Stormrage fangirlism, MMO-Champion also has Jaina, Sylvanas and Thrall scoop.

Also, I have a feeling I’m going to wipe a few groups because I’ll be staring at stuff and not paying attention AT ALL.

With the Bronze Dragonflight, time is merely a setback!

And there’s no story complication or continuity problem you can’t solve with either a holodeck or time travel.

Yaaay. At least within the Caverns of Time, it was kind of constrained, and kind of “necessary to protect the timeline”. Now we just filch artifacts from it.

Meh.

For those of us behind internet filters, how about a summary of your link?

New dungeon. The Well of Eternity. Nozdormu sends you back in time to retrieve the Dragon Soul and bring it back to the present to defeat Deathwing, and in the meantime you must ensure history proceeds correctly, that the Well Sunders and splits Azeroth in two.

So what does this do to the theories about the infinite dragonflight hinted at from Chromie’s quests in Northrend?

In a nutshell, the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight is an alternative timeline Nozdormu. The speculation is that the dragon boss at the end of the first of the three dungeons of 4.3 is that alternate Nozdormu preventing Noz from sending us back to the Well of Eternity to retrieve the Dragon Soul in the second dungeon.

Ugh. That’s… Ugh. shakes head sadly
Upon edit: Actually, I’ll hold judgment. They -might- do it well. I just don’t like the concept.

Apparently I busted 10,000 Achievement Points a while back: I’m up over 10,050 now. Seems like I may have spent a bit of time playing this game…

I can’t predict the future or how they’ll react to it. All I can report is what they’ve said, which is that there will never be a WoW sequel MMO. Of course, there was *also *never going to be flight in the old world or appearance-only gear.

It’s good to be back, Big Bro!

Seriously, do yourself a favor and go read the full text descriptions of the new instances. They sound pretty fucking awesome. And the best part?

They could end up completely removing the Knaak changes from the timeline.

We’ve discussed this before, but how long have the WoW toons looked like that? Wolkie looks like that Ron Perlman guy who looked like a lion in that tv series from long ago.

‘Cause if they’ve looked like that from the beginning (whatcha’ll call "vanilla), I’m wondering if when they started up they couldn’t afford an artist and they used one of their own guys, and now that they’ve probably had a lot of complaints (about the guys’ faces) they probably don’t want to hurt that guy’s feelings by getting someone decent.

Of course I could be “way out there” in my theory.

Anyone know?

Thanks

Q

Brewfest starts today! I have 3 85s this time, so that’s three shots at the Kodo mount per day. Really want it for my tankadin, as he doesn’t have any cool mounts yet. I’ve never gotten a mount from this event, so maybe this is the year…

Oakie, I kept an item from last year’s Brewfest. Will it work this time? I can’t see it right now because they’re patching (aren’t they?), so I won’t know what it is till this evening.

Thanks

My poor priest has been doing Brewfest every year since Cairne launched - 3, 4 years? - and never a mount. And that’s my mount-collecting toon. My pally on the other hand got both the Kodo and the ram in his first Brewfest season.

At least now with the RDF it’s easier to find a group for the holiday bosses.

Speaking of mount collecting, I’ve been running MgT on my priest to try for at least the pheonix pet if not the mount. No luck so far but I at least I hit Exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive last night. Only two expansions later!

Oh, god…Brewfest! I’ll have that damn music pounding in my head for weeks…the worst decision Blizzard ever made was not having the Brewfest music fade out as you moved away from the festival site…

Quasi--You may be talking about the remote thing…basically it summons a drill that will teleport you to the dungeon where the boss spawns. I think that probably still works, but you don’t really need it, as the dungeon finder will have an option for Corbin Direbrew.

If you aren’t used to tanking, you can still queue for this as DPS. It’s a short, one fight dungeon, against an easy boss. The first time you do it each day you get a keg’o’loot (forget exactly what they call it) that will always award some Justice Points. That’s where the mount will be if you are lucky enough to get one–either a ram or a kodo. Might also get a dagger or a BOE mace. The boss himself drops a trinket that may be an upgrade for ya–or otherwise neat to have.

I’m game to group up for the Brewfest mounts…I need the ram, and I will pass on the Kodo which will increase the chance of my fellow guildies to get the Kodo.

They don’t work that way anymore…Direbrew doesn’t drop the mounts. They come in the “Treasure Kegs” that you get for using the RDF for the holiday fight. I’m pretty sure they’re BOP, and you can’t trade them because you have to pick them up to get them out of the keg.
