I was kind of wondering if Blizzard would use the following from the new Christie Golden stuff.
You killed Krasus, you bastards!
But yes, I am pleased that it looks like a certain threesome will have no bearing on these instances.

Actually, it’s that beer mug you throw at a guy, IIRC.
About those trinkets, though: I have two of those on my acttion bars. Are those an automatic part of my weaponry or do I have to press them as I do everything else on the bars? I’ve tried clicking on them, but haven’t noticed any kind of difference in combat.
Thanks

If you mouse over them on your action bar, there should be a tooltip to tell you what they do. If it has something like “Use: Increases X by 156” or something like that, it means you have to click them to activate it, and it usually only lasts a little while. If it just says “Increases X by 156”, then it’s an always-on and you don’t have to click or anything.
Remember that if you get confused about what anything in your equipment or on your bars does, just mouse over it and you should get a tooltip to tell you.
The races that were live at vanilla have never been updated or changed. So that’s Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes for Alliance and Orcs, Undead, Trolls, and Tauren for Horde. People have been complaining about the harelip on Human males pretty much since launch, and some races arguably have it even worse–e.g., there’s a female Troll hairstyle that never even got finished.
All of the artists they use for everything are internal people–from vanilla up through Cata. The main problem with the older models is that they’re just not as complex as the newer ones, their skins aren’t as high-resolution, etc. They’ve wanted to update them for a while now, but people get very attached to their characters, and a change that some people welcome could cause a massive outcry from others.
I only have the ram on Sleutel because I unlocked the vendor the first year, when the mounts came from tickets instead of the boss. (At the time, I could only buy the slow mount, but I bought the fast one the next year. In fact, unlocking the vendor the first year is the only way you can get the slow mount: it’s not obtainable anymore.) The kodo refused to ever drop for me.
Silly question, but did you check to make sure you’re running on Heroic? The mount only drops there.
Ctrl+M. You’re welcome.
This is correct. There is no way to trade the mounts. Which sucks, because in the first couple of years, you could run with friends who already had the mount you wanted to increase your own chance of getting it. (You could also keep running as many times as you wanted, assuming you could find a group willing to take someone without a summon.)
For those raiding Firelands (and especially anybody who has struggled with the raid), the nerfs are in today, and they’re biggies:
Normal mode:
Heroic mode:
Should be seeing a lot more groups clearing FL now, that’s for sure. Personally I think it’s too much too soon, but that seems to be the new way. And it’s definitely a good thing for casual guilds/groups who want to see the content.
Man, that reminds me I gotta get on the Kodo train again. All I got is the stupid ol’ Ram.
I’m not a complete idiot. It’s a trivial run for an 85; I can run right past most trash packs and the ones I can’t, go down with a Mind Sear or two. According to Wowhead the pet drops about 10% of the time so I’m hoping not to have to run too many more times for it. The mount is a lot rarer, though, and I guess that because it’s a heroic you can only run it once a day and not manually reset it like you can for non-heroics.
It’s my turn to laugh! Last year was my first Brewfest ever, and I got the Kodo! Brewmaster was also my first title.
Let’s go Ram, let’s go! Woo woo!
So, yer sayin’, you can’t even get being an idiot right. Tut, tut.
I remember farming that extensively back in WotLK when my hunter was raiding and almost well-geared. I had a beastmaster build that made my bear tank almost indestructible, even if I had to fight a lot of the trash to get to Kael’.
Anyway, I had a lot of runs in, because there are several things in Kael’s loot table I wanted (being an engineer/leatherworker and a bit of a recipe completionist, for instance). I think I got one leatherworking pattern to drop the entire time; no schematics; and no pets or mounts.
So I have mildly bitter memories of farming that, and I hope you aren’t pinning your hopes too high against farming a reported 10% drop rate.
But maybe my luck was just extraordinarily bad in that respect.
I farmed up both the pet and the mount myself in Wrath, so I know what a pain it is. ISTR that the pet droprate was listed at 15% at that point, but I remember it taking forever (since, after all, 15% is only the average). I think the mount is the typical 1% drop rate.
And I got the Kodo on my very first Direbrew run this year. Hooray!
No internet connection (just moved house) just after dinging 85 on my rogue, especially bad timing when the holiday boss drops a sweet MH dagger that would be quite an upgrade. Damn you previous house owners who couldn’t cancel their broadband sub in a timely fashion, damn you to hell!
Though saying that should have it up and running by the weekend so that broken bottle will be mine, oh yes.
I’m having more fun that a priest in a playground PvPing on the rogue at max level, stray wanderers in TB are slaughtered endlessly…
Gratz!

They pulled out the Empire State Building sized nerf bat for Firelands. We cleared everything up to Domo easily even though we were being silly and got a few people killed on the way. The only reason we didn’t kill Domo is because people were falling asleep by that point and we still got him to 8%. I think one of our best kills was a full minute ahead of the previous.
Had our offtank get trapped and die while tanking Riplimb, no problem just heal the mage who was now tanking and still kill the boss. Alysrazor is pretty boring now, at least for me. I had fun interrupting all those Fieroblasts before the DPS, last night both DPS on my side went up flying just for the hell of it and I sat there watching the adds cast Brushfire over and over and over… even two healing most of the fights was a snoozefest.
Firelands felt more like a 5 man heroic with a few extra people along for the ride, at least to me. I think they went overboard with these nerfs.
Yay Brewfest! Cmon Kodo, that’s all my warrior wants!
Well that’s just silly - how y’all get along without me I have no idea.
That’s kinda sad. So much for working hard and having a sense of accomplishment when the last boss dies. Now it’s more “well, at least we beat the nerfed version”… if they want more people to kill things I don’t know why they don’t just recycle the ICC buffs and do it that way rather than one massive nerf that trivializes the place.
Only logged on last night long enough to do Direbrew on my three 85s. No mounts, but my pally got the BoE one-handed weapon. I wish I had a toon who could use it! I’m guessing it’s not going to AH for the 2500g people are asking for it; there were already 15-20 available for auction. If I can’t sell it I’ll probably donate it to someone in the guild.
The Pickled Egg trinket dropped and would have been a really nice upgrade for my shaman, but the druid dps out-needed me for it for his off-spec. Bastard! But I’m sure I’ll have many more tries.
[del]:shakefist:[/del] I mean, congratulations!
15-20% across the board is pretty extreme, especially since the next tier isn’t even out yet.
Very much this. I’m not even raiding anymore, and it’s annoying the shit out of me. Nerfing content that’s no longer relevant, fine (like they did for T11 when T12 came out). Doing it while people are still working on it? How fucking condescending.
IME, people are often surprisingly willing to trade pieces when there’s a situation like this. They roll Need so it doesn’t get sharded, but if there’s someone who actually could use it as a MS upgrade, they’ll hand it over if asked nicely.
0-3 on mounts from Direbrew yesterday, but my tankadin did get the trinket with +510 STA on it. He’s now at 159K HP self-buffed. Only blue item he’s still using is his shield. There doesn’t seem to be a JP upgrade for the shield slot, so I’m open to suggestions…
There’s a craftable and a BOE drop that are both equivalent to T11.
That’s a good point, I’ll ask nicely next time. I’m not too worried because it’s only the first day and I could run Direbrew all day to farm it if I want to, especially as a healer.
