I haven’t played WoW for fivish years, but have a craving to try it again. I’ve long since lost the disks, so presumably would have to download the game and patches and stuff.
But question: if I buy the “full version”, does that include all the expansions, or do I have to buy them all separately. Cuz I don’t think I’ll bother if I basically have to buy the game three times in order to acess the full game, especially on top of the monthly fee.
The website lets me get a free trial version, and says I can upgrade to the “full version”, but its not super informative what the full version actually is.
If you haven’t played in fivish years, you probably only have a license for Vanilla. The client you download has the potential for all the xpacs, but you’d have to buy a license for at least Lich King and Cataclysm. I think they include Burning Crusade in the Vanilla license now. You shouldn’t have to rebuy Vanilla, at least, since you HAVE an account, it’s just inactive. You’d have to reactivate it with the monthly sub.
Incidentally, you can play Vanilla and Burning Crusade for free up to lvl 20. There’s no time limit on it now. You can have up to the 50-toon limit, all up to lvl 20. But it’s subject to the usual trial limitations: no mail, not able to join a guild, no auction house, no pm.
Anyone else think Shaman would make more sense than Monks to tank? I think I will like the monk class, if I ever get around to creating a new character! (all 10 slots are full on Proudmoore and I only have bank alt to delete)
Thanks and thanks, jay! I finally found the exit from Silvermoon, I don’t know how I missed it. Also, strange that they started my hunter in the city, isn’t it? I’m used to Elves starting at Falcon Wing.
Oh, crap! I forgot I was playing the new Wolkie as a hunter and he’s a level 9 and was in the city on a quest. I thought I was playing my other hunter, Rothenburger all that time. Sorry! My bad!
Opposite faction NPCs are never safe! You still have to avoid the scouts. It makes sense - we’ve won Tol Barad, but it’s a constant battle to keep control, so neither side is ever completely neutralized.
That was indeed the problem. I dropped Call of Duty and was able to continue with the Creepy Crate chain, although I haven’t finished it yet since I was only killing time while queued for HH.
My god…there’s so much QQing over this xpac, and it’s not even close to being released. It’s not even in beta yet, AFAIK. But “OOHHH! RAEGQUIT OVER KUNG FU PANDA!” “OOOOHHHH! RAEGQUIT OVER TALENT FUCKERY!”
Sorry, Quasi…I was in bed by the time you posted that. I’ll probably be able to play later today. I’ll hop on Jaejae and whisper you for an invite if you’re on, too.
On the one hand, I agree. On the other, I’m almost certainly canceling my account after Deathwing dies. Nothing that has been announced so far appeals to me in any way (pet battles? really?), and a good number of things actively upset me. It’s just become very clear that the direction the game is going holds very little appeal for me.
Maybe they’ll announce something that changes my mind, but it doesn’t seem likely.
I think I’m pretty much with Jas09. I just re-started playing about a month and a half ago and had been excited at the idea of a new expansion. However, nothing announced grabs me. I think the talent trees are too narrow as-is. My favorite part of RPGs is the character customization options, which this expansion seems to be reducing.
Additionally, I hated the movie Kung Fu Panda, and Pokemon makes me roll my eyes. With a budget of at least $100 million per month, you’d think they could have come up with something better than that.
I dunno, just my personal opinion. It just seems when the game came out they targeted an older age group. All these changes seem to target a younger demographic, which I am not a part of. It seems to be making the game more simple, not more complex, and I prefer more complex games. Probably just going to switch to Star Wars Old Republic if that turns out to be alright.
I’m still in. I have the panderan monk pet which I like to have out occasionally.
At least until Deathwing dies, and then I may consider Star Wars-ing fulltime.
Talents have always been a problem for me. It’s always, been: “Here’s the best spec for you - you have 3 points that won’t matter.” If you look at wowpopular, it’s the same thing, the 2nd, 3rd, etc most popular specs are all single point changes.
So then they went with glyphs, which had the same thing. “Here’s the best prime glyphs. You have to have 3 of these 4.”
I only see the monk and pally talents on the wow site, so I’d like to see more, but unless there are more ‘best’ choices than slots, there will always be someone saying, “This is the best way”.
I may not be able to make it this afternoon, jay. I played too long last night and my degenerative disc disease is killing my neck. Been awake all night with the pain.
So if you don’t see me on, sorry. We’ll try to make it another time.
