Jas09, Flightless Bird, Captain C: Remember that we’re over a year out before Mists is released. Remember what LK and Cata looked like when they were announced at BlizzCon. It’s guaranteed that some of the features they announced won’t make it to release and some new ones they haven’t even planned for yet will.
Regardless of whatever gameplay or mechanics they do for this xpac, it’s clear at this point that they’re creatively bankrupt. Pokemon and Kung Fu panda … seriously.
I hear that jayjay - but to me there is one big difference. No matter what the difference between announcement and release, WotLK said we would fight in Northrend against Arthas, and kill the Lich King. Cataclysm said that Deathwing would be released, destroy Azeroth, and we would fight and kill him.
Mists says… new unheard of continent with Pandas? Who is the big boss? What is the over-arching story? What is the point?
Eh. I’ve never set foot in a raid in six years of playing. I have no desire to have another job that I don’t even get paid for. What’s endgame to me? New races, new zones, new quests…now THAT’S what I look forward to.
Yeah, it seems like it’s going to have a lot of new systems to play with. That’s what the expansions should be over advancement of their atrocious lore.
I was reading as it was announced and I am pretty sure they said it was going to be more Alliance VS Horde based, rather than an Lich King/Deathwing thing. What that means, I have no clue
I think there is sort sort of Shadow Demon for the Big Bad. Also some mention of a race of insect people breaking through a wall to kill the peaceful Pandas or some such. Not sure what the orver-arching story is supposed to be. The point, however, is obviously to bring in more money for Blizzard.
They know they will lose a large chunk of subscribers when the Star Wars game launches. They’re probably hoping this expansion will lure people back to the fold. I’d expect them to launch the expansion within six to nine months of whenever Star Wars goes live. Long enough for people to try it, but return to WoW for the new shiny.
They’ve said that there is no big boss, it will just ramp up the Alliance vs. Horde rivalry.
I see MoP being a stopgap measure. Blizzard has decided they can’t bring out the big guns yet (Azshara, Sargeras/BL, Old Gods). I foresee Blizzcon 2013 announcing epic story xpac to bring peeps back.

Hee hee hee! runs around frantically like a caffeinated gnome
You used to be sent to Undercity to play Halloween pranks, but I don’t know what the new quests are now that Southshore (which was the target of the Horde side) isn’t under Alliance control anymore. But that’s why you were sent there, probably. Something about stink bombs or something?
Yeah, there are two quests for Hallow’s End that involve going to Undercity. One is to douse the Horde wickerman–you will get flagged for pvp when you go to where the wickerman is, and some hordies were camping it when I did the quest, so me prepared to get ganked.
The other quest is a stink bombing run. You get sent up there on a flying broom, are immune to pvp while on the broom, and have to drop about 20 stink bombs.
The Southshore cleanup thing has been changed to Stormwind, works about te same way…you get an arcane cleanser, have to target horde stinkbombs (they look like orange smoke clouds on the ground) in Stormwind.
Hey, guys. Yep that’s it, stink bombs and dousing. Where do I pick up the broom - someone named Gertrude, but where is she?
And I was wondering, you know, if it would be worth my time (y’all know my playing style), since I haven’t been PVP’d in a long time?
jayjay, there’s 500 g’s in the bank of jaejae needs to go shoppin’
Thanks

ETA: Headed to WoW now, but unless ya got time, don’t worry about signing on w/ me in SW, unless you wanna check out the guild rankings and make sure I did everything right, jay!
The offer’s generous but I’m probably not going to need it right now. I’ll probably not be in until around 9:30 or so. Tonight’s Amazing Race night and I have a standing date on the couch with a black and white pooch for that.
The npc with the broom ride is just to the right of the questgiver. May as well do that one…only takes a few minutes, and you get to see the inside of Undercity with no risk. The other one, dousing the wickerman…meh…depends on if you want to go for the achievements to get “the Hallowed” as a title. If you get ganked, you always have the option of taking the rez at the graveyard–comes with 25% gear damage and a debuff that lasts a few minutes, but you can hearth out and forget about it if you want.
I had a decent weekend in game. No flying horse, but I finally finished the World Explorer achievement and title on the Mage, and got my hunter ready to hit Northrend. He just dinged 68, has mining and skinning up to par, so next time I play him it’s off to Borean Tundra…
Made a freebie account and am screwing around with it. Still kind of fun; I might get pulled in. For those of you on Cairne, I’ve very creatively called my undead hunter “muzungutwo”.
