New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

That would be cool.

I might not be on at all tonight. I’m not feeling so hot. I may just go home from work and go lie down.

Feel better, my friend!

Quasi

PS: But the Pandas, jay!!!

Seriously, Blizzard, seriously? I was on Mannoroth who is the final boss in the new Well of Eternity 5-man dungeon, and I died and released in the middle of the fight and he was downed while I was a ghost going back to the entrance and I apparently didn’t get credit. I thought that bullshit mechanic only counted in raids! Well then, I’m never releasing in the middle of a battle again because I won’t get any fucking credit for the kills.

All Add-Ons “out of date”. Looks like I’m gonna be busy for a little while, puttin’ em back.

Q

Been trying to get on for almost 4 hours now. My computer hangs up and Task Manager tells me WoW is “not responding”.

I can’t even minus out of the WoW program! Took everything else off, did a soft and hard reboot, but still nothing - it just sits there, and unless I go to Task Manager and get out of it, I cannot go elsewhere on my machine.

I had that problem, too. Locked up my entire computer. I had to completely reinstall WoW. It messed with all of my add-ons, though, so I don’t recommend doing that (saving your settings is a little complex). But it’s not just you, if that helps.

Thanks, Angel, good to know.

I got in a few dailies before this whole thing began, so I reckon I’ll just head on off to bed then.

I wish you all a good and warm night!

Quasi

Pandas aren’t on this patch, Quasi. They won’t come out until the expansion releases late next year.

Oh.

Well, in that case, I take it back.

Suffer.

:):)

Just kidding! Doctor up, rest and liquify, my friend!

See you soon and feeling better!

Your pal

Quasi

Thanks! Called off work, seeing the doctor tomorrow. :stuck_out_tongue:

My Impressions of the new dungeons and Looking-For-Raid tool:

**5-man Dungeons: **I think the new dungeons are pretty cool, with some neat animations and fight mechanics on the bosses, but i’m kind of disappointed in the difficulty level. THey were pretty much a cake walk. I think my group had 2 wipes in 3 dungeons. A guildy told me his pug earlier in the day one-shot everything.

Looking-For-Raid: Again, the raid itself was pretty pretty cool with fun fight mechanics and cool boss fights. But egads! with no vent and little coordination (well the 8 memembers from my guild were on vent) we had 2 wipes over the 4 bosses (once on 3rd boss, once on 4th boss). I know the LFR bosses are supposed to be easier, as they should be, but it was too easy. It just doesn’t feel right spending a night wiping on Ragnaros on Monday because we tried to swap in some new players, then on tuesday going to a brand new raid and just basically brute forcing our way through it. (by the way our wipe on the 3rd boss was at 1%). It will be interesting to see how much harder the normal 10-man raid is when we get there later this week or next week.

The thing about Sylvanas is she’ll be back..

Anyone know the iLevel of the best PvP gear one can now buy with honor? I wont be on until much later tonight.

It’s still the same until the new season starts, as far as I know, but I only looked at the Conquest vendor.

They were pretty faceroll-y, I died a couple of times but that’s to be expected your first time on a boss. But I didn’t care too much, with the continuous loregasm.

Is it just me, or did Illidan’s voice actor change?

Agreed.

In Well of Eternity i actually said out loud “Hey! It’s Illidan!”, then later “Now Malfurion’s here!!!.. AND TYRANDE!!!”

No one else in vent was nearly as excited as me…

Agreed on all counts (although a few of the fights were kinda dull, and the RP will get old fast I think). Although we had 3 guild-mates in our run (and the other two DPS were also from the same guild), it was really, really easy. We out-geared it, sure, but at about the same level we were for the ZA/ZG dungeons - and that was waaay harder. I don’t think we lost a single person on a boss in all 3 dungeons - certainly no wipes (not even really close, to be honest). We knew nothing about the fights before hand, and only read the Journal for maybe half of them.

I haven’t done LFR yet, but I’m not at all surprised. As soon as they announced a 25-man PuG the only way to make it not result in a massive bitch-fest is to make it ridiculously easy.

It all comes back to that statement Blizzard made a few months ago - most players dramatically underestimate the skill gap between raid groups that went 7/7N (or, more likely 2-3/7H) in Firelands and the “average” player (those that do LFD and now LFR). If you could kill Ragnaros then you are not the target for LFR, and should really only look at it as the equivalent of an over-sized 5-man as far as difficulty goes.

Now the Normal scaling will be a different matter - I’ve heard reports that it’s undertuned right now as well, but that could be a result of lots of early raiders being heroic geared (especially considering the big nerfs to Firelands Heroic modes).

I really think they’ve undertuned the new content–including the raids. On our server we already have one group that went 8/8 last night, and another group (the top raid team in my own guild) that’s 7/8 and will no doubt be 8/8 tonight. I fully expect my own group to get to at least 4/8 tonight after talking to folks who’ve already been in (my group doesn’t raid on Tuesdays), and 6 or 7/8 by the end of our raid week. That just seems way too easy. Even my undergeared alt’s group in my other guild one-shotted the first boss last night.

Compare this to Firelands, where most groups struggled to get past Shannox.

Ever hear the words “happy medium,” Blizz?

Just out of curiosity, Infovore, were these groups 6/7H or 7/7H before this patch?

The 7/8-and-soon-to-be-8/8 group was 7/7H before the patch (they got H-Rag three or four weeks ago) and they’ve been spending quite a bit of time on the PTR (I think they were either 7/8 or 8/8 on the PTR).

My group is 6/7H and has been for several weeks (we’ve pretty much given up on H-Rag until we get some 397 gear) and spent a little time on the PTR.

My undergeared alt’s group (the one that’s now 1/8 on a one-shot) is 6/7 normal with no PTR time except my experiences from my other group.

Yeah, that sounds about right then.

I think the big difference is the Firelands Heroic nerfs. T10 was never nerfed on Heroic mode, so folks like my raid group (who killed Nef Normal like a month or so before Firelands, and only killed Halfus on Heroic) started out in Firelands with almost all 359 gear. Now groups at roughly the same skill level are almost all 6/7H, with tons of 391 gear.
