I’m in the same group as Shin from time to time on an alt (although not this week). I had to be the one to turn on the Vamp add-on in our 10-man group, so I’m guessing the RL isn’t using it. Hopefully I will be there this coming weekend and we shouldn’t have any issues with it.
The reason she is hesitant to really push progression with this group is because the overall raid DPS is pretty low (even with the buff!), and single-point failures have been very very frustrating. Obviously BQL and Sindra both have multiple ones (I’m picturing chain ice-blocks and half of the raid dying to Blistering Cold…)
I have no doubt we will try (and likely down) BQL next week. It’s just a matter of not nerd-raging on the inevitable mind-controlled vampires…
Yes, the RL made it pretty clear that Sindragosa isn’t really an option right now either. She is well aware of the relative difficulties, having done them all on both 10 and 25 on another toon, as well as HM-25 BQL (not sure if that group has HM Sindra yet or not - I’m guess not).
Basically the guild has maybe 20 solid players (read: good enough to kill 25-man LK in a solid raid). Only around 15 of those can make the 25-man raids, however. That leaves us pretty short, and with very little in the way of “sorry, you have to get better if you want to come to this raid” leverage. Add in that Cairne is a veritable raiding wasteland (still only one guild in each faction with 25-man LK)…
ETA: Actually, in hindsight, there are likely well over 20 solid players… but a smaller percentage that can make the raid times. The point of having at least 10 PuGs or “under-skilled” players in every 25-man raid holds, however.
If you’re talking about the model I think you are… there weren’t any leggings. It really *is *just a furry codpiece.
Try /dance on a mounted female Nelf some time.
Really, out of the three, I’d say BQL < PP < Sindri. If you guys could comment specifically on what’s been killing you before, we might be able to offer some suggestions–although on preview, I see that **Jas09 **might have indeed pointed to the big issue as being not using a bite addon, which would indeed make the fight a bitch, especially on 25.
Whew! Back from vacation! Looks like I missed the whole Real ID in Forums kerfluffle. Good timing for me!
Tried to do the weekly raid quest last night (Malygos). I hate EoE anyway, but people should really know that it’s not possible with a 1-day-old level 80 tank with a GS less than 3k. Maybe I’ll get another chance before or after the BDL raid tonight. I only need 12 more frosties for my last T10 piece.
:smack: Please tell me you dropped group as soon as you saw the tank… or at least that you didn’t let yourself get hit with more than one repair bill.
Little Arhiatlel got to /flex her healing epeen this weekend – she’s getting more experience with raid healing, and got to tank heal ICC10 up to PP and EoE10 (the weekly). She’s doing that with a raid-renew spec, too, and didn’t find herself sweating too much. Having done that, I think I’ll be comfortable volunteering to tank or raid heal. I’m not sure I have a strong preference for either, although when the tank wasn’t taking damage I was throwing out CoHs/PoMs and spot heals.
However, I think what made me the happiest this weekend was finding a set of Worn Troll Dice on the AH for 20g. Cue me flailing and going BUY NAO and then promptly mailing them to my main. hearts I can totes have awesome loot rolls now. Right? Right?
And in alt news, I can’t wait to get my 67 paladin away from the clown suit zone though – his current headpieceresembles nothing so much as a blinged out candy box unceremoniously strapped to his head. Oy.
I got my 80 troll priestess Exalted with the Netherwing this morning, woot! Yes, that old BC quest line - funny how much easier it goes when you’re 80, eh?
While I was at it I flew back to the camp and bought up the other 5 nether drakes, and then I looked at my mount count on her - 46 out of 50. And somehow I was missing 4 raptors from the basic troll vendor? A run down to Sen’jin Village later and bingo, got the achievement to get the albino drake, my first!
Then I saw the 100 mount achievement and almost cried, but that’s another matter…
Oh, and something I forgot to mention…
We finally got around to killing LK with Shadowmourne in the raid. The items are banked for now; the GM was offline for the kill. It had been previously stated that it would be an open bid for everything, with all the proceeds going to the gbank.
With just my own funds, I’m up over 19k gold. There’s another 2,400g no one’s using in the alt guild that I could borrow. I really, really, *really *want the mount. Praying *very *hard that nobody else wants to drop 20k+ on it.
Easy-er, but still a hell of a grind! Congratulations! Which drake did you pick for your first one?
Woohoo, congratulations again!
I’m working on that one myself. I’m into the 90s now… I really need to stop slacking on my Shatari Skyguard rep. I should also start doing weekly OS10 and 25 zergs.
never mind misread.
I grabbed the Violet as my first. My husband went with the Onyx - I told him a day or two after I started that I was grinding the rep, as the drakes are neat compared to the now-plain-looking drakes/proto-drakes of Northrend, and he started up as well. Then I took a couple days off from the grind and he beat me to it, getting the achievement yesterday.
I still haven’t done the Mag’har rep grind; that will unlock a lot of talbuk mounts. Then there’s the PVP mounts that I think I only need honor to buy, and the Shatari Skyguard, and the mounts from the Argent Tournament - she’s a Crusader so they’re all unlocked, but I’ve only bought the Argent Charger so far.
I did the Alliance version of that before I did my Netherwing. Expect more of the same, only much, much more tedious. Like, “kill several thousand ogres” tedius. I mean that absolutely literally. After you finish all the quests, you’ll still need to kill somewhere in the range of 2,000 ogres to get all the beads you need, if I’m recalling correctly. And they’re BoP.
Yeah, I’m working toward the rest of the PvP mounts myself–I think I have two so far, but then I needed to blow a bunch of honor on gems after I got a DPS upgrade that dropped me way under the Expertise cap and I had to regem a bunch of sockets.
I also need to get back into the Tourney grind. Don’t forget that all of the *original *models of the faction-mounts can be bought with a handful of seals and a few hundred gold–it’s a nice quick bump to your total. After that, though, you’re looking at 100-150 seals per mount, depending on if they’re ground or flyers.
On the first attempt, about four people (out of 10) got killed within 15 seconds. Since I’m raid heals, this concerns me. We wipe, obviously, and run back. The mage says “uh, is <name> supposed to be the tank? Has anyone checked his gear?”
I checked about half his slots and there was nothing even at iLvl 200. His libram was level 70. He had NO trinkets! Seriously both trinket slots were empty! He said he hit 80 the day before, but even that doesn’t justify empty slots.
So yeah - I told him he needed to run some heroics and get some gear before raiding. And seriously, put something - anything - in his trinket slots for now. Then I dropped and immediately got picked up by an ICC25 run – which turned out to be a colossal waste of time as well, since they couldn’t even get Deathwhisper down. But that’s another story.
Grats.
I’d consider you pretty damn lucky if it only goes for 20k, however… guess it depends on how rich your guildies are.
Oh, and I did the Mag’har grind before WotLK came out. Hope you like killing Ogres. At least, if you’re 80, it will go a lot faster than if you’re a level 70 holy priest. But I like the talbuks; they’re pretty.
Yeah, in all honesty, I would not be surprised to see it go for 30k or 40k.
Speaking of which, my paladin just picked up a Silver Covenant Hippogryph a couple days ago, for her 55th mount
My guild had its first run into the new raid yesterday (10 group, as usual). We didn’t manage to kill the fuchsia dragon, but considering the horror stories we were getting from the people who’d been there with other groups we didn’t do too badly. One wipe before the final boss; people were making suggestions, coming up with tweaks… the Raid Assistants kept chanting “there is a suggestions for raids area in the webpage, guys”.
Having been in a couple of High End guilds where they would yell at you (well, at me) if you missed doing your dailies for two days due to some weak excuse like “moving house”, it’s lovely being in a group where people can get up from a Total Splat making jokes about it and coming up with suggestions in a friendly way, rather than “where wz tthat healing you &/$/&%/!!!”
The guild I am in is about to start raiding, but the time commitment is waaay too much for me. 8 - 12, 2 evenings a week is just flat out not doable for me, so it looks like I will stick at heroics, and maybe try the odd PUG raid of a weekend afternoon if i have the time. Achi whore and alting will be my thing for now.
Hmmm maybe it’s time to start considering a new game. How is CoH/CoV? Or I believe there is a Star Trek MMO? How about Star Wars?
Last night, since the BDL raid failed to materialize, four of us ran a couple of heroics. I didn’t really need the badges or anything but it was fun to run with guildies. For fun I healed H-UK and H-OK using nothing but Holy Nova. 1.3k damage!
PUG raiding is doable, if you don’t care so much about downing the end game bosses. For example, I really only have M-W-F nights that I can reliably play for longish chunks of time. Of those nights, Monday is when the Burning Dog Legion raids (or tries to) and Wednesday I run dungeons with my RL friend (and some guildies). So in reality my only raiding night is Friday, and no guild is going to want someone who can only raid once a week on Friday night. But I’ve been able to run more than half of ICC enough times to be >< this close to Exalted rep, and I’m about to get my fifth T10 piece. It just takes a little bit longer.
Regarding killing ogres for Nagrand-area rep: Yeah, many of my characters were 60 before BC was released and thus went through a lot of that content when it was new to everyone. I got a vague idea of how many ogre kills it’d take - something along the lines of “kill ogres until you puke, then kill several thousand more.” Oh well.
My priest is dual-spec’d shadow/disc, so at least she can rip through stuff better solo now than back in the day. In fact, because of my memories of what it was like before, I hadn’t even killed Zuluhed the Whacked in Shadowmoon to start off the Netherwing series, until I thought ‘wait a minute, I’m geared fine to run ICC-10, I can deal with this chump.’
